okay, listen up. when Castiel manages to travel back from 1978 in The Song Remains the Same, he’s weak and disoriented and about to pass the fuck out, right ?? Sam catches him as soon as he sees him, and Dean comes and grabs him too, before he falls. Cas looks at his own hands first, surprised he even made it back. He glances at Dean next for like half a second, and then it’s like his brain is going wait. wait. wrong person. not you. where’s Sam? gotta find Sa— oh there. and he’s staring at Sam, and then he fucking smiles right before he collapses. and it’s like this relieved, exhausted, you’re okay, lowkey lovestruck smile, and it’s the purest thing, okay ??
