i really do think the people who have to hem and haw their way into MAYBE admitting that sam is KIND OF jack’s dad (as opposed to fun uncle, aka jack is dean and cas’ kid) or who hedge that sam is only given that title or relationship with jack as a way to de-gay the dean and cas dads situation are just… genuinely not watching the show. jack’s entire early storyline is focused around sam parallels and sam’s relationship with him and sam’s fatherhood of jack. it’s explicit. it’s textual. it’s the main source of conflict for the season. i’m not sitting on some “you have to watch the show through special eyes to understand the deep symbolism and metaphor” pedestal of media literacy. this is the plot of the show. jack’s first words on the show is calling sam “father.” the final fight between the winchesters and lucifer is about custody of jack and lucifer says “daddy sam to the rescue.” like i’m not erasing dean’s relationship with jack and obviously castiel’s isn’t in question with this but there are SO many people who erase sam’s relationship with jack or uncle-ify him and they’re either doing so deliberately or they’re straight up not watching the show. sam is jack’s dad. this isn’t subtle or subtextual. watch the show!
