You know Pompeii 2014 was not nearly as bad as I expected

Of course the dialogue could be cheesy and they used way too much slow mo

But the female lead was likable and realistic

Had a loving and healthy relationship with both parents

A++ for showing an older, married couple who love and respect each other

Passes the Bechdel test

Male lead was brooding (a bit annoying) but it makes sense on account of his life really sucking

The POCs are all v nice and generous characters whose relationships to the leads feel real and sincere

HATEABLE VILLAINS. So much fun to hate them.

Feels like an accurate portrayal of ancient Roman life while providing real time criticism of slavery, politics and the treatment of women

The horse survived 10/10

Overall no cinematic masterpiece but very watchable, would watch again
