Sam and Dean have died, although Gabriel managed to survive. Leaving Castiel worried about the Empty coming for Jack, he seeks safety for them both in another reality. Despite having to say goodbye to all he knows, with the Winchester Brothers dead, it feels as though he already has.
Meanwhile, the Sam of that reality has long been retired from the hunting life. He still has visions, and receives a rather violent one of Castiel and Jack arriving in his world. Can he find them before danger does?
While magical creatures are known and mostly integrated into human society, there are a few that the government have identified as being “endangered” and curtailed some of their activities to “protect” them. Sam’s junior year of high school, Selkies finally earn the right to go to a 4 year college. Sam applies for and is accepted to Stanford University, where he meets his soon to be best friend, Castiel. But when Sam is attacked one night just off of University property, everything changes.
She did it! She survived childhood, made it to adulthood, and managed to escape off to college. But being a grown woman and a college student is really not all it’s cracked up to be. Amidst the emotional turmoil, exams, grades, transitioning, and finding love, coupled with several confessions completely out of left field, Sam starts to find herself drowning, and her only lifeboat is not the person it should be.
Following Dean’s “death” and abrupt departure, Sam and Cas try to pick up the pieces. The two of them find comfort in one another. They form a relationship– one neither had planned on but that they fall comfortably into. Sharing a bed soon becomes more than just simply sharing a bed.
Trouble arises when Sam announces that Jess has miraculously come back to life. He’s eager to spend time with her. Cas is suspicious of Sam’s behavior, that he has forgotten his hunter sensibilities – one of which is exercising caution.
Weakened by his fading grace – borrowed grace from months ago expiring on him–, Cas knows his options are limited in getting Sam to see the truth. Cas needs to regain his strength. For that, he needs power. But Cas soon learns that it’ll take more than a power grab to save Sam.
Sam is desperately, hopelessly, miserably in love with an angel. His problem? The angel is in love with his brother, and he doesn’t have it in him to make any attempt to break up their relationship.
Sam never even learns that his angel is his soulmate.
After almost a decade, Sam and Cas meet again at a hotel in Kansas City. Once again, they find themselves orbiting around Dean, but this time is different. Sam is no longer an awkward and confused teen. Dean had come down his high horse, sobered up and was getting married. Cas got his shit together and had plenty of time to figure out what role Dean played in his life. Now it’s time to catch up with the program and figure out what’ Sam’s part in the play. Especially in those days before New Year’s Eve (right before The Big Fight with Dean), when he felt their bond could shift towards something different.
Castiel Novak has always been haunted by dreams of things he can’t explain. Still, he has a good life, and isn’t too lonely - he’s got his twin Jimmy and his dog Gracie, if no one else. All that changes when a drunken drifter, Sam, interrupts his quiet little life. It remains to be seen if Sam makes things be better or worse. A season 3.5 AU.
Castiel had left the bunker a month ago without giving any news. Sam always knew where he was, and one day he decided to join him unexpectedly at the Doweling Cabin. He asked Dean to drive him there and because of the storm, they were stuck in the house in the middle of the woods, far away from everything for days. They will have to face their feelings.
Castiel has been held captive as a fallen angel in Crowley’s circus for nearly two centuries. Enter Sam Winchester, a young Stanford student, who stumbles across Castiel and smuggles him out of the circus. Castiel needs his wings, his Grace is fading, and Sam will do anything he can to help. Nothing ever goes as planned, though…
Cas has discovered his sexuality as a human when the Winchesters bring him to the bunker, and he and Sam fall into bed together. When Gadreel forces Dean to drive Cas away, the two must find their way back to each other, freeing Sam from Gadreel in the process.
So Castiel isn’t the most - moral? Conventional? Call it what you like - attorney, but fuck if he isn’t one of the best in the state of California. He’s gone up against lawyers from all over and only lost a handful of cases in twenty years. So when a young up-and-comer beats him in a case he should have bagged, of course he’s interested. But he wasn’t expecting this.
While cataloging items in the bunker, Sam and Castiel are pulled into an alternate world where they must assemble a massive puzzle to get home. As they struggle with the puzzle, they slowly begin to make new lives for themselves.
