I was thinking about Gadreel and what happened, how we learned a bit more about the angel's leaving grace in vessels.

That led me to think about Sam using Lucifer's and Michael's grace to pull Lucifer apart.

[The tracking spell Sam and Cas wanted to use for Gadreel didn't work because there wasn't enough grace. Sam's soul had been around two archangels grace without a vessel to dilute the exposure for a century I believe. That had to have had side effects on the soul, don't ya think?]

I picture Sam using a similar technique that was used to kill demons, when Lucifer tries to force Sam and Jack to kill one another, it seems plausible to me.

Dean isn't aware and is busy making the deal with AU!Michael. When Dean shows up with Michael, Sam ends up doing the same thing with the AU! Michael, helping Dean avoid the torment of losing control over your anatomy. Because no one deserves losing control over their anatomy, being tricked into such a thing with an angel lying about a deal is incredibly scarring.

Funny how that's the conclusion when my inspiration came from Gadreel, isn't it?

i love how every time sam and cas are alone in the bunker, they do dangerous experiments on sam’s body that leaves (or would leave, in the case of the gadreel grace extraction) sam dying. you’d think dean would be part of the chaos duo but no it’s cas and sam
