so did anyone else cry when merlin was trying to save arthur in s5 and like arthur just accepted he was going to die, that he was going to leave, and instead of anything else he said thank you to merlin, thank you. and like that carries so much meaning because throughout the whole show merlin has been doing so much for arthur, not just saving him from threats but being his friend. and when merlin finally confessed his magic, he could've done anything, afterall he was raised with the mentality of despising magic. but in the end, when he was going to die, he said thank you. thank you for being my friend, thank you for all the times you saved my life, thank you for always being here, thank you for brightening my life, thank you for all the support, thank you merlin. i know he couldn't have known everything merlin has done, but that thank you is his acceptance, recognition, gratitude, and love for merlin. it was almost better than saying i love you.
