A Dance with the Vanguard
- Cayde is easy to get on his feet. He may not know exactly what you two are doing when you start (in fact, he’d probably have no clue), but that won’t, and doesn’t stop him. He’s a quick learner, and after a few steps he’s already pretty much gotten the hang of it, and starts getting creative. He’ll try to take the lead from you, twirl you around a bit and add some moves of his own; but before the song is even half over the whole thing will have gone completely wrong in the best of ways. As the last note plays, Cayde swings you around into a deep, romantic dip… and starts riffing on your stomach like an air guitar.
- Zavala is actually more likely to ask you first, provided that you are someone he knows and trusts quite well: a close friend, treasured ally, or perhaps a romantic interest? His extended hand, and a warm and inviting look in the eyes will inform you of his intentions long before he speaks the words “Shall we?” When the two of you get out on the floor, Zavala leads the entire time, moving quite well despite his large stature. The two of you sway around the floor with such ease, that you hardly notice when you’ve traveled from one end of the room to the other, shifting around with a powerful grace and confidence. When the song finally ends, the Commander holds you in a finishing pose, and watches for your reaction. If he finds he’s managed to impress you, then you might catch the smallest turn of a self-satisfied smile on his face.
- When the music starts to play, Ikora is nowhere to be found. To get her to even consider a single dance is a monumental effort, one that one likely includes a great deal of patronizing and disdainful prose on her part. Should you manage to convince her to join you, the Warlock is unable to relax, and she will spend a good portion of the dance overthinking the movements and misjudging the rhythm. Her hesitance and regret will show in mumblings of “I told you so” and “When will it end?” But it’s clear as time goes on that she’s at the very least committed to trying, if only for your sake. When the song draws to a close she stays no longer than necessary, grateful that it’s over. The next day however, you might receive a thank you message detailing her gratitude concerning the effort, despite her reticence. You think you hear music similar to last night’s selection coming from Ikora’s room in the tower…
