There Is An Evil Sweeping Across The Land!

This is no doubt one of the most consequential elections in the history of the U.S.

Democracy is on the ballot. Reproductive rights and personal choices are on the ballot. Social justice and equality are on the ballot. Voting rights, Civil Rights and the future of free and fair elections are on the ballot. The livelihoods and healthcare of your parents and grandparents are on the ballot. Truth is on the ballot. The health, lives and security of our children are on the ballot. The Republican Party has been overtaken by conspiracy theorists, radicals, and extremists beholden to a con-man and self indulgent and think skinned narcissist in a cult-like following. More so now than ever before. Republicans with a shred of credibility are forced to cower in fear of reprisal from the cult leader and his domestic terrorist following. The Republican Party has no platform other than to do the bidding of their "nice leader", attempt to gain power, maintain their deep pocket corporate donations and cushy lifestyles. They use deceit, demagoguery, fear mongering and projection to manipulate and control those who are considered their base and to suck in those who are not. Currently they are using fake patriotism, inflation, gas prices, crime and immigration as their main weapons to strike blows to the heads of their following and blaming all of the current issues on the current administration and the Democratic Party. Inflation is global, and the U.S. is doing significantly better that most other developed countries. Gasoline, oil, and other fuel prices an influenced in part by the invasion of Ukraine, pricing control of OPEC countries, supply and demand, and corporate greed ( a specialty of the Republican Party). The economy related to food and consumable goods is also influenced in a big part by corporate greed and monopolies. Prices increased when there are record profits. Crime is a constant. Violent crime is more prevalent in those states that are Republican controlled, and gun violence is a direct result of the GOP/NRA absolutism in opposition to sound gun control efforts that are favorable to over 65% of the population including NRA members. Crime increased significantly during the previous administration but the GOP will never disclose that during their gaslighting. One reason for crime is directly linked to the demagoguery, xenophobia, and mainstreaming and embrace of the alt-right extremists by the former occupant of the White House. Our country has a long heritage of immigration, from our inception. Immigrants helped to build this country, and while the Republican Party would like to erase and re-write history, that includes slaves, and other indentured immigrant ethnic groups.

The entire future of our country is at stake. Democracy is on the line. If the Republican Party is able to gain power, they have already put things in play to ensure they will never again lose power. That is fascism. The majority of Americans do not want a king, dictator, nice leader, or emperor. The majority of Americans do not want an autocracy controlled by extremists and lunatics.

Who runs our country, or represents us is up to the majority of the voting population in a democracy. The Republican Party plans to end that.

Sane, democracy supporting citizens are a majority of the population, but they don't all participate in the electoral process. Many are prevented from participation due to efforts of the Republican Party with their voter suppression, gerrymandering and electoral fraud. We must save our democracy! This is not an election to sit out! We must make our voices heard, we must preserve our democracy. We must defeat the Republican machine until they can rid themselves of the kooks, Q-wazies, lunatics, and extremists and become a viable Party again.

On January 19, 2018, prior to the vote on a bill to prevent a government shutdown due to an impasse on the budget legislation, Senator Clair McCaskill (D-MO)  called for a vote on Calendar Number 36, H.R. 1301, an amemdment that would have provided appropriations for pay and death benefits for our Military personnel and families. Senate Majority Leader McConnell (R-KY) objected. Friday, January 19-2018 14:15:43 McConnell said it would be discussed the following day; it was not. 6 minute video clip: https://www.c-span.org/video/?c4711015/majority-leader-mcconnell-objects-providing-military-pay-delay-government-shutdown January 19 full video: https://www.c-span.org/video/?439965-1/senate-gop-leader-proposes-week-cr-government-shuts&start=51343

Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL) called for a vote on an amendment to delay the government shutdown for at least one day through Saturday, January 20th 2018. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) objected. Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) called for a vote on an amendment to provide a 3 day continuing resolution to fund the government through Monday, January 22, 2018 thus preventing a government shutdown. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) objected. The ensuing vote resulted in a government shutdown.

The Trump White House, Republican Party and the disinformation media with Fox News Cable leading a narrative that the Democrats and Chuck Shumer caused the government shutdown, using our military personnel losing pay as one of their talking points.

Senator Clair McCaskill (D-MO) called for a vote to ensure our military personnel received pay and death benefits, Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) objected to ensuring our military would receive their pay and death benefits even with a government shutdown. Who objected to and effectively cause our military personnel to lose pay and death benefits during the government shutdown? Mitch McConnell.

Senators Bill Nelson and Jon Tester, both Democrats called for votes to delay any shutdown and to continue funding the government at least through Monday, January 22. Senator Mitch McConnell, a Republican and Senate Majority Leader objected. Who shutdown the government? Mitch McConnell

The 2017 fiscal budget ended September 30, 2017. The Republican Party controls both houses of Congress and they control the agenda. The 2018 budget should have been done in October 2017. Instead, the Republican Party spent over half a year carrying on their 7 year attempts to gut the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA-Obama Care) instead of working on the budget. They failed repeatedly and miserably. They didn't need to 'repeal and replace' the ACA which the majority of American People wanted to keep. They simply needed to fix what was broken. So instead of working on the budget they wasted more time with their their GOP narrative of needing to fulfill campaign promises and lying to the American People.

After their miserable FAIL on attempts to completely repeal and replace the ACA they changed to their agenda to giving their wealthy pocket stuffers, mega corporations, and the top 10% in the income brackets massive tax cuts, lying to the American People telling them that it was for middle class and working families. The Republicans were threatened by their rich donors who fund their campaigns and the RNC, being told that they would stop giving them money if they did not get their tax cuts. They finally were able to pass the GOP Tax Scam in December 2017. The ONE major legislative win for Trump who also lied shamelessly to the American People. Despite the rhetoric regarding all of accomplishments by Trump and his concubines of disinformation, the majority of his 'accomplishments' were dirty deeds like eliminating consumer protections, environmental protections, allowing desecration of our National Parks, taking healthcare and family planning services away from women, reversing gains in civil rights, promoting xenophobia racism and division, removing protections from predatory lending, gutting our State Dept diplomatic corps, pandering to mainly big business and radical right wing religious cults.   Still no budget.

Trump, the Republicans and their disinformation networks used #DACA, #CHIP, Disaster relief funding, military funding, the Visa program, opioid epidemic funding, as their pawns as leverage to secure $18 to $30 billion for Trump's border wall and yes more attempts at taking Americans' healthcare away . This is after decreasing tax revenue by 1.4 billion and increasing the national deficit by an estimated 2.2 trillion $ over the next 10 years.

The funding bill will again come up in a couple days. Also there is the issue with the debt ceiling. The debt, which will automatically be increased due to the GOP-Trump Tax Scam, and also because they will need to borrow to do any major work on infrastructure, or anything else for that matter.

DACA is also on the table, something that has no relation to increasing the debt. Immigration reform is also on the table. The next couple weeks could be interesting and will again be a distraction from the Trump Russia Conspiracy issue and the Republican Banana Republic Party’s continuous attempts to distract and obstruct with their conspiracy theory concoction.

Immigration literally made America great.

Nativists can’t compete. They need every advantage. Equality threatens their privilege.

I’m so proud of the students in my city for being vocal. DACA is one of the few things that if fully carried out and varied carried out well could truly “make America great,” but we all know that was just a slogan.

This is why it is so important that we not remain silent. Trump supporters and Republicans, in general, complain that those of us who criticize the decisions this administration is making are just ‘sore losers’, but that is not the case. We are speaking up against injustice, immorality, and inhumanity and if we remain silent, if we do not take advantage of the freedom we still have to speak out against such wrongs, we will lose that freedom and many other freedoms as well.

“Accepting untruth of this radical kind requires a blatant abandonment of reason. Klemperer’s descriptions of losing friends in Germany in 1933 over the issue of magical thinking ring eerily true today. One of his former students implored him to “abandon yourself to your feelings, and you must always focus on the Führer’s greatness, rather than on the discomfort you are feeling at present.” Twelve years later, after all the atrocities, and at the end of a war that Germany had clearly lost, an amputated soldier told Klemperer that Hitler “has never lied yet. I believe in Hitler.” On Tyranny, Timothy Snyder, p. 68.

A bill that would ban all federal civil rights laws from specifically protecting people because of their transgender status that was introduced last month has now been advanced to a House subcommittee.
The “Civil Rights Uniformity Act of 2017,” would ban federal civil rights laws from treating gender identity or transgender status as a protected class, and would ban “the word ‘sex’ or ‘gender’ from being interpreted to mean 'gender identity,’ and requires 'man’ or 'woman’ to be interpreted to refer exclusively to a person’s genetic sex,” according to the bill’s summary.
The only exclusions would be for any federal civil rights law that “expressly designates 'gender identity’ or 'transgender status’ as a protected class.”
The legislation, HR 2796, is sponsored by Texas Republican Rep. Pete Olson (photo), and has five co-sponsors, including Rep. Vicky Hartzler (R-MO), who just yesterday saw her anti-transgender amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act die by a narrow margin on the House floor after being fast-tracked through committee. It was so expected to pass that Hartzler didn’t even address the committee before it was rushed to the floor for a full House vote.
In a press release announcing the bill’s introduction last month, Rep. Olson said his legislation will “remove lawmaking authority from unelected federal bureaucrats and reinstate that power to Congress,” and blasted Obama-era policies.
[…]
Also among Rep. Olson’s bill’s co-sponsors are Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ), and Rep. Steve King (R-IA). King is a white nationalist and anti-LGBT extremist who happens to chair the House Subcommittee on the Constitution and Civil Justice, the committee Rep. Olson’s anti-transgender bill has been assigned to. Also on the committee are Rep. Franks, Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX), and newly-elected Rep. Karen Handel (R-GA). Democrats on the committee include Ranking Member Steve Cohen (D-TN), Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), and Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY).

Like many of the misleading  labels the GOP likes to put on things like “freedom” and “patriot”, this  Civil Rights Uniformity Act of 2017 has nothing to do with Civil Rights. It has more to do with discrimination and reversing gains in civil rights, equality, and justice gains in past decades. These #TheoFascionalist need to be stopped. Make some noise, #Resist, #March, and in the mid-term 2018 elections and in 2020 kick their butts to the curb.

This from the party of “limited government”, or government by the major corporations. Corporations are not democratic, they are hierarchical and authoritarian. Remember the movie, “Rollerball” starring James Caan?

THIS BILL SHOULD SCARE ALL AMERICANS! This bill was Written by the ALEC CORP for the Oligarchs and Corporations to control you and your family. ALEC is funded by the Koch Brothers. This could be the reality under HR 1313, the Preserving Employee Wellness Programs Act, a House GOP-sponsored bill that would essentially allow companies with workplace wellness programs to demand your genetic information (or force you to pay a big penalty). The legislation has now passed a House committee on a straight party-line vote, reports STAT News, with all 22 Republicans unified in support against 17 Democratic detractors. The bill is expected to be latched on to a second Obamacare-related legislative effort that will be a follow-up to the main GOP health care plan now working its way through Congress. So now, once again our freedoms, our right to privacy, and the right to undue physical harm will be brought down upon each and every working American. For what purpose might this be worthy of removing the American rights preserved by the Constitution, and by the forefather’s ideals? This is pure communism in the worst manner possible. Again, what will be next, illegal search and seizures of homes, the removal of freedom of speech, encampments for those who speak up? Where does the American citizen say enough is enough? In an obvious attempt to prepare for massive voter fraud and voter targeting by the Pence and Kobach led Trump GOP team, States are fighting back. Trump's Voter Fraud Commission is an executive order mandated fraud creation commission. They want the States to furnish the personal information for all registered voters including names, birth dates, the last four digits of their Social Security numbers and party affiliation. This will enable them to target voters with pro-GOP and pro-Trump propaganda in order to legally rig all future elections in favor of the Republican Party and commit voter suppression at will. Kobach is the creator of the Crosscheck program, originally meant to be a program to clean up outdated voter registration records. It has been mostly used to committ voter suppression targeting minorities and select areas identified as Democrat strongholds. In other words, it is used by the Republican Party to commit voter fraud and voter suppression.

Georgia voters of the Congressional 6th district, Democrats, Republicans, Independents, you have an opportunity to send a message loud and clear to Trump and his TheoFascionalist Republican Party controlled Congress that you have had enough of the lies, enough of the career criminal Republican lawmakers picking your pockets and filling theirs. #FlipThe6th #electjon #GASpecialElection #VoteJonOssoff #ossoff Trump and the Paul Ryan Super Pac with their dark money are using the same Kremlin influenced dirty campaign tactics to fill Congress with more pro-Trump regime comrades, more Mitch McConnell rat pack elitists, more anti-democracy Tea Party/Freedom Caucus Constitution busters. #Resist and send them a message that “WE The People” are taking back our country from the corrupt and the cons. #Resistance #Indivisible #WomansMarch #MenStandUP #ReleaseYourTaxes

The unethical elilte big money Paul Ryan Super PAC, the same one that used Russian hacked material to put the career criminal Republicans back into office around the country has unleashed damning and completely false campaign videos in an attempt to mislead Georgia voters against Jon Ossoff who is running for Georgia’s Congressional 6th District, to fill the seat vacated by Tom Price, Trump’s new Health Secretary, the man who wants to take away women’s healthcare options, and take away healthcare from millions of Americans and replace it with a voucher system.

You were fooled once by the deceit of the Republican Party and put a fascist Romanov and Hitleresque like dictator into the White House, and re-seated the big money backed career criminal Republicans who are guilty of putting their interests and those of their millionaire and billionaire backers and big business over the interests of the American people.  It’s time to take our government back from the TheoFascionalist Trump regime and Republican party, and put it back into the hands of the American people. Where did you hear this before? From the pathalogical liar who now sits in the White House and who has done the opposite of what he said he would do just to get your votes. Georgia 6th District voters, ignore the lies from the Republican party and their Paul Ryan Super PAC campaign ads filled with outright lies. Elect Jon Ossoff for Georgia’s 6th District. Donald Trump is now president — here are 8 guides to help you resist his agenda

Written by a group of progressive former congressional staffers, this guide takes the majority of its wisdom from an unlikely source: the Tea Party. “We saw these activists take on a popular president with a mandate for change and a supermajority in Congress,” the former staffers wrote about the Tea Party’s challenge to President Obama starting in 2009, shortly after he took office. “Their ideas were wrong, cruel and tinged with racism — and they won.”
So, taking a page from the Tea Party’s playbook, Indivisible offers practical dos and don'ts for people who want to challenge their elected officials. It urges activists to start and focus their efforts locally, because constituents are the people to whom every elected official is responsible.
This is a guide that was put together by Stay Woke — a branch of We, the Protesters, a group led by popular online activists DeRay McKesson and Netta Elzie. It’s a working document that lays out essential readings, issue areas and resources.
“The manual will grow over time as more and more people contribute updates, facts and resources to it,” McKesson wrote in an email announcing the manual’s release. “As such, we encourage you to contribute important information for others to read.”
The right to peaceful assembly is a universal promise, but certainly not a guarantee. It’s a safe bet to expect civil disobedience to increase during Trump’s presidency. Big and small protests have already been happening in cities across the country, and those demonstrations are likely to get bigger and louder as Trump’s agenda unfolds in earnest. But the specifics of those protests are often hard to gauge. This guide, provided by the American Civil Liberties Union, helps with the nuts and bolts, such as how to secure permits, what restrictions need to be followed on private property and whether protesters have the right to take photos or videos during demonstrations.
Trump has promised to bring back law and order to America’s cities. But for many marginalized communities, that type of speech is just code for allowing law enforcement to wantonly stop, search and possibly arrest black and brown people — concerns for which there’s been plenty of precedent.
This is another guide from the ACLU. This one spells out what you have the right to ask and show police. Note that it’s never a certainty that those rights will be respected by a law enforcement officer during a confrontation, but this guide outlines your rights so you can at least know which of those rights are being violated and what violations to report later on.
Trump has repeatedly vowed to repeal the Affordable Care Act, which could have dire consequences for millions of Americans. But transgender communities already felt the brunt of those consequences in December, when a federal judge in Texas halted protections for transgender Americans in Obamacare shortly before they were set to go into effect.
While that’s one tangible effect of a Trump presidency fundamentally altering what’s possible for transgender communities, another will be limiting — or even drawing back — federal protections in housing and employment. Sen. Jeff Sessions, Trump’s pick for attorney general, has a history of anti-LGBTQ sentiment, including his refusal to sign a voluntary nondiscrimination pledge. He also voted against the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, which would offer federal protection against gender identity discrimination in the workplace. This guide, again from the ACLU, offers general overviews of what employers can and can’t do as it relates to employees’ gender identity.
Smartphones have become an indispensable tool for protesters, whether it’s used to document police violence or simply challenge the mainstream media’s narrative of what’s happening on the ground. But technology also leaves protesters vulnerable to government surveillance. The Electronic Frontier Foundation is a nonprofit that focuses on civil liberties and technology, and its guide on digital security for protesters is a must-read. From how to send secure messages to friends to instructions for backing up your data and installing apps with strong encryption software, this guide has what protesters will need to make their voices heard.
It’s unclear what, exactly, will become of the Obama administration’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, the immigration program he enacted by executive order that helped hundreds of thousands of immigrant young people gain temporary relief from deportation.
Neither Sessions nor Trump’s nominee for secretary of Homeland Security, Gen. John Kelly, would say one way or another in their confirmation hearings that participants in the program would not be targeted by immigration officials. And Trump himself vowed to end the program while he was running for office. But, as of now, the program still exists, and is one of the only forms of protection for immigrant youths. The National Immigration Law Center updated their tips on how to apply shortly after Trump was elected.
“Over 700,000 people so far have opted to apply for and received DACA, and many of them have found better paying jobs, gotten driver’s licenses, and enjoyed other positive benefits,” the group says on its website. “Again, whether to apply for DACA is a personal choice, but here are some of NILC’s post-election recommendations.”
It’s no surprise, given the “build-the-wall-ban-the-Muslims” rhetoric that permeated Trump’s campaign, that hate crimes ticked upward after his election. The Council on American-Islamic Relations has a bunch of resources for people who want to report bias incidents, and also makes it easy to report those incidents so that CAIR can keep count of them.
