The Will To Change by bell hooks fucked me up good
The (vulgar) slang “niquer” in french in other context relates to something hurtful, violent or brutal : “Je me suis NIQUÉ la main” = “I HURT my hand”. Also used as “I’m gonna BEAT the shit out you” (“Je vais te NIQUER ta race”).
Same with : “Se faire baiser”* = “To get fucked” the exact same also means “To be WRONGED”.
* NOTE : it’s rarely or never commonly used for men because it is PASSIVE (meaning a man cannot be/get fucked by a woman).
For the most part, the words related to violence/brutality can be replaced for “having sex” in some way. I’m guessing it’s the same for a lot of languages ?
In Swedish young men often use the same word for when they’re going to hurt someone, and for having sex with (well …) a woman. “Jag ska knulla dig”, roughly translated to “I will fuck you”, where the word “knulla” means hurt/beat up/destroy, and “att knulla” = “to fuck” as in “to have sex with” (always as in “doing something to someone”). Absolutely the same.
Same thing goes for German. I think the most commonly used term to describe having sex with a woman is “ficken” = to fuck, which men also oftentimes use when they’re threatening violence on one another. “Ich fick dich” = I’ll fuck you, which would mean something along the lines of, I’ll beat the shit out of you…
pls. if someone is confiding in you that they're depressed and going through a mental health decline...please, for the love of god, do not bring up physical health and bring up some bullshit about how it's connected to their feelings, especially if they're feeling suicidal. people fit and unfit alike can still have depression.
i remember arguing with this ugly white guy online a couple of years ago and he was trying to insult black people and their noses and was like, "that's why you all have noses in the middle of your faces!!!" as an insult and i was so confused like...noses in the middle of our fac--? we all have noses in the middle of our faces, wtf's he talking about? and he proceeded to say, "your nose bridge is supposed to start at your forehead" and i was just thinking about how high nose bridges are literally mainly associated with yts? like PLEASE most of the world has black and brown people meaning low noses are more prominent but they STILL think their nose is the norm? they just be talking sometimes sjfndjds
As a Scottish person living in England I feel this on a personal level, when people say shit like “well it’s not the genuine asylum seekers I’m bothered by, it’s the people who just move here to get a better job and take advantage of our welfare system” and I’m like “Mate, I literally moved 500 miles south to a different country just to get a better job and better weather, if you’re going to hate on anyone for that hate on me.”
Then they try to back-track and say things like “Well you already speak perfect English so it’s fine” and I’m like “My grandma didn’t speak very good English when my grandparents settled in the UK from Finland, what are you trying to say?”
And they’re like “Well I’m sure you’re grandparents had useful jobs and weren’t just sponging off the system.” like… nah, my grandma mended clothes and my grandad sold garden sheds, they weren’t exactly brain surgeons
“But they…” just admit it, it’s not white immigrants that bother you, I doubt Americans go on marches protesting the Canadian undergrad students who overstay their visas or all the germans and scandinavians who just rocked up in the Midwest one day and decided to call it their own.
This was how I finally started to understand white privilege.
saving this for future reference.
me hanging out with black people in the summer: “aye, yall don’t forget to put on sunscreen”
them:
Use the Walgreens Brand which is pretty cheap and it does wonders and doesn’t leave me with a white cast. And I’m dark as hell so I hate looking ashy but not all sunscreens are made equally and it’s one of the better ones I’ve used.
Wait cocoa/shea butter and coconut oil don’t protect you from the sun we really do need sunscreen??
Yea fam. All that “we don’t need sunscreen” shit is a myth. Combine that with the fact that most dermatologists don’t know how to spot skin cancer in Black people and it’s a nasty combination.
Yeah, it’s harder for us to get it but when we do it’s deadly. I know two people who died of skin cancer, both were Black.
“While incidence of melanoma is higher in the Caucasian population, a July 2016 study in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology showed it is more deadly in people of color. African American patients were most likely to be diagnosed with melanoma in its later stages than any other group in the study, and they also had the worst prognosis and the lowest overall survival rate.”
Sorry about the link, I’m on mobile. But this is from August 2016, which I know isn’t the most recent but it’s still SUPER IMPORTANT. Y’all please wear sunscreen. With Google it’s even easy to find smaller, Black-owned brands.
https://blackgirlsunscreen.com/ is Black-owned!
I use this sunscreen from Walmart. It’s cheap, doesn’t leave a white cast, and smells pretty good.
Duuuude my family uses that and it’s Soo nice it even smells good
Same for brown people, are skin may be dark but we do burn!
Korean and Japanese sunscreens are also a great option for deeper skin tones! Their formulas are way more sophisticated that most US sunscreens, don’t feel greasy, and most don’t leave a white cast. Biore Aqua watery essence and Purito Centella green level sunscreen are especially nice and not crazy expensive
this. Is everything.
these posts are so annoying because they’re always worded as if actresses have some sort of privilege over actors and like anyone actually cares about their wellbeing. also ive seen approximately zero posts like this just about actresses and several about actors lol and actresses have to extreme diet at all times and often exercise just as hard. actors do not face even a fraction of the same pressure
I always think about this comparison of Hugh Jackman on two magazine covers indicating what men see as attractive vs. what women see as attractive:
I’m not saying women are never shallow but we aren’t the ones demanding male actors live on chicken breast and spinach for months on end so they can be suitably muscular and veiny!! Meanwhile, whenever a female celebrity gains like 10 lbs, even if she was very thin to begin with, she’s immediately going to be universally yelled at for “letting herself go” and magazines and talking heads will speculate that she’s pregnant or depressed or whatever else they can use to slander her.
The point is, this whole trend of “men suffer under the patriarchy too!!!!” annoys me a lot because it always puts the onus on women to like, support men emotionally without remotely asking the same of men. You know who enforces the patriarchy? Other men!!! So they should take responsibility and stop blaming women for existing.
the whole “dad bod” phenomenon speaks for itself i think. there isn’t really an equivalent for women being appreciated because they look normal.

Still relevant
so when Zuko joins the Gaang and this happens:
he’s probably freaked out (rightfully so) but in the back of his mind he’s probably also thinking “worst comes to worst, I could probably fight her” until:
this happens and he’s like:
and immediately starts reevaluating every bender he’s ever met, thinking of every time Katara totally could’ve killed him, and is forever grateful that she has morals lol
bonus post war convo between Zuko and Azula:
So you don’t have to watch the video every time you need one of these hacks immediately:
1. If you feel nauseated, smell rubbing alcohol.
2. If you feel like throwing up, start humming.
3. If you have a runny nose, put your tongue to the roof of your mouth and press your thumb to your forehead for about 20 seconds.
4. If you have a headache, pinch the webbing between your fingers and rub it back and forth for about 1 minute.
5. If you’re lightheaded from standing up too quickly, clench your butt cheeks.
6. If your arm’s dead/has the pins and needles feeling, rock your head back and forth.
7. If you need to pee badly, think of sex to trick your brain and relieve the pressure.
8. If you have a migraine, stick your hands in ice water.
9. If you wanna calm your racing heart, blow on your thumb.
If you're lightheaded while standing up, opening and closing your fists is also something to do. Also try stretching before getting up!
(These are vasovagal syncope tricks, to get the blood pumping where it should be)
Thanks for adding another hack!
I used the humming one when I randomly started dry heaving today, and that shit worked so fast!👌🏼
Use of the word “teen” in porn is lowkey the creepiest shit because it’s like this overarching term used to refer to 18-19 y/o porn stars but plays to the illusion that they could be younger because teen encompasses the non-legal ages as well. And honestly that should creep people out that it’s so commonly used.
i love the lgbts but sometimes y’all gotta realize that if you were never a part of (or structurally oppressed by) a racial or religious group… it ain’t your place to criticize that particular group’s “homophobic tendencies.”
i literally see lgbts spreading around right-wing islamophobic/anti-black/antisemitic talking points and justifying it with saying “oh im gay and i think x group is homophobic”! it aint our place & stop (falsely) generalizing entire racial and religious groups we aren’t even a part of!
Of course white ex-Christians stay goofing on this post when it’s so very clearly addressing minority religions, not Chrisrianity. It’s talking about people characterising oppressed pracrices like Islam or Judaism as regressive by saying they’re inherently homophobic or misogynistic when such claims are 1) false and 2) a common islamophobic talking point. Only current and former members of such religions will actually have the nuance and cultural context to criticize them.
Really don’t want to get all political on main but this is important (TW: talk of r*pe, racism, violence, p*rn, su*c*de and strong language, may have traumatizing content)
Okay so for the last couple of months I have read a lot of research on this topic. It came to my attention through a post on Tumblr and ever since then I have read many studies, articles, statistics and reports of victims on the porn industry. And it’s depressing. It really made me cry at night in bed multiple times because it just absolutely baffles me how people can be this cruel to one another and how no one is talking about this issue. It’s shocking and it hurts me as someone who cares deeply about human rights and other people. And I came to the conclusion that you should sign the following petition: http://chng.it/pMr5NXQVyR
It’s a petition to shut down Pornhub. Hopefully the whole company. Now you may be asking yourself:
What has this company done and why should it collapse?
- Well, for one, the reasons that are listed underneath this petition.
- It blatanly ignores while at the same time profiting off revenge porn; a crime that can lead to character assassination, harassment and trauma for the victim as well as seriously ruin their lives. It can even go as far as a person taking their own life.
- The GirlsDoPorn scandal
- Racism
- The sexual assault of a 14 year old girl ended up on their website and she begged them to take it down and they didn’t give a shit
- They verified a 15 year old trafficking and rape victim
And of course they have no problem fetishizing rape, pedophilia, torture, racism, misogyny and abuse.
Rose Kalemba was the 14 year old girl which I talked about. Whether the porn shown on this website is acted or not (which you can never know actually), rape and abuse are NOT a form of ‘sexual expression’ and should not be supported by the Terms of Use. And it is absolutely sick that people and porn companies just tolerate videos where the plot is straight up that someone gets raped as something that may “appeal to many people around the world”. Rather than just accepting this we need to do everything that is in our power to make sure we can create a future in which everyone can see how this is actually one of the most morbid, disgusting views to come out of this society and is unacceptable and unforgiveable. This is NOT okay:
It’s disgusting. It stands against basic morals, disregards human rights, tolerates crime and traumatizing experiences as a fantasy and lacks compassion and understanding for victims of sexual assault; rather it fetishizes those crimes. This is not only disrespectful for the victims but also can cause people to fetishize rape or have reduced empathy for rape victims (more to that at the bottom of the post).
Before continuing of course I also know the debate that exists about the sex industry and the porn industry. Radical feminists agains liberal feminists, people saying porn and sex work should be banned, people saying it should be legalized and decriminalized etc.
So I want to clarify that I’m neither
- a radical feminist
- a liberal feminist
- a SWERF
- religious
- a communist
I’m a political science student who came across this topic by chance, read multiple sources on it and was absolutely horrified by what I learned from them.
But honestly? In this post it doesn’t really matter where you stand in the debate on the sex industry. Or whether you’re a radical feminist or a liberal feminist or christian or muslim or neither of those things. It doesn’t take any particular political view or ideology or religion to realize that this is not okay. And whether or not you want porn to be banned or not:
We need
- more education on the topic for both children and adults
- to hold traffickers, rapists and abusers as well as the companies that profit off them accountable for their crimes
- to emphasize and make sure that rape, teen porn, pedophilia, abuse and racism are not a category for sexual enjoyment
- better health care for the people working in this industry as well as regular physical and mental health checks for them
- to make it as easy as possible for them to leave the industry and seek help if they need to.
- to make sure people understand what is wrong with this.
And of course if Pornhub gets shut down, there will still be other sites where this happens. There will still be many companies profiting off rape and sexual exploitation. It is impossible to just ban it all. So you may be asking yourself, if this is the case then:
Why does it make sense if one company gets shut down? Why would it make a difference if I sign this thing?
- If the company gets shut down the topic will get media attention. Probably even worldwide. This will raise awareness about the human rights violations being comitted in the porn industry. People who see this may think critically about the media they consume for the first time ever.
- Pornhub is one of the most popular sites for pornography. The company getting shut down would have an extremely important symbolic value. It would show that society does not condone this kind of shit. It would show that we stand up for the basic morals we have been preaching for so long.
- It could help some of the victims!
- It can be a first step in working towards the things listed above. If the topic gets more attention it will be easier to educate people on it, to get them to listen to you, to organize real life demonstrations and to contribute to activism against the issues happening.
- The company receives consequences for the atrocities they profit from and that they condoned for long enough
What else can you do against human rights violations in the porn industry and fetishizing crimes?
- The easiest thing: Don’t consume it. It doesn’t matter on which side of the debate you stand. It can’t go on like this. It’s the same reasoning that is behind not buying meat from shady mass production companies or not buying clothes from stores who let their products be produced by children. If you show them that you will consume the media they produce no matter what the conditions are and contribute to the industry the way it is now you’re slowing down change.
- Educate the people around you on it. Speak up when the topic is brought up. Share the research, the articles, make posts on social media.
- Organize demonstrations if you can
- There is an app called TraffickCam where you can upload photos of your hotel rooms so it is easier to identify places where sex trafficking and rape takes place!
And for those of you who want to know more about what damage porn currently does to the individual, society, women, children, men, the people working in it and relationships you can check out this post because it pretty much sums it up.
