The Metalogen Man & Babs (Carol Matthews), a robot from the 1945 serial, The Monster and the Ape (Columbia Pictures).

Created by Professor Franklin Arnold, the Metalogen Man is stolen by a thuggish competitor, Professor Ernst, with the aid of his trained ape, Thor. Ken Morgan, a representative of the company for whom the robot was made, leads the attempts to recover the stolen robot.

George The Robot - A ‘Home Help’ radio-controlled robot built by 17 year-old, Tony Sale, 1949. Sale would later become responsible for building the replica ‘Colossus’ WWII code-breaking computer from Bletchley Park. SPOKEN messages of welcome. accompanied by a snappy salute, startle visitors to the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia. Pa., where a mechanical man nick-named "Egbert" has just been installed as official greeter. The robot comes to life when the visitor's shadow falls upon a light-sensitive "eye," operating electric relays that set him in action. But typists are not robots - Royal Typewriter Co. introducing the new Touch Control feature which allowed the typist to personalize the key tension to her exact finger pressure. (1935)  The robot featured in the advert was variously known as Mary Ann, The Roboter, Alpha, and Astra depending upon her modelling assignment.

Mechanical Worker, 31 December 1970 - Moscow: This robot conductor...was made by children of the Oblast Station of Young Technicians in Kalingrad (Moscow Oblast). According to the Soviets...the robot has worked with the city's transportaion system, greeting passengers and asking them to buy tickets, and switching on his own lights if the lights in the car go out.
