The World At Bay - Cover art by Alex Schomburg for the 1954 science fiction novel written by Paul Capon. In The World At Bay, Capon’s main character, Professor Elrick, discovers a fleet of extraterrestrial ships headed towards Earth. Elrick makes this discovery with the use of ‘radaroscopy’ - the use of radar echoes for the study of outer space. In 1954 radar astronomy was a new science - at the time, Capon’s novel of alien invasion was an eyeopener introduction to this technology. (h/t @EyeStream)
