It's 9.30am on a Sunday, and the mood inside the school building in Bandung, Indonesia, is festive. Mothers in headscarves and bright lipstick chat and eat coconut cakes. Javanese music thumps from an assembly hall. There are 400 people crammed into the primary school's ground floor. It's hot, noisy and chaotic, and almost everyone is smiling.

Twelve-year-old Suminah is not. She looks like she wants to punch somebody. Under her white hijab, which she has yanked down over her brow like a hoodie, her eyes have the livid, bewildered expression of a child who has been wronged by people she trusted. She sits on a plastic chair, swatting away her mother's efforts to placate her with a party cup of milk and a biscuit. Suminah is in severe pain. An hour earlier, her genitals were mutilated with scissors as she lay on a school desk.

A five-year old Saudi girl has died after she was tortured by her father, described as a “prominent” religious scholar who often preaches on numerous satellite television channels. Lamaa breathed her last breath in an intensive care unit of a hospital in the Saudi capital Riyadh a few days ago, after weeks of suffering from broken arms, a skull fracture and head bruises, her mother told Al Arabiya.

“He used all sorts of torture and abuse against Lamaa,” the girl’s mother said, now divorced from her brutal husband.

Allowing Women To Drive Would Mean No More Virgins, Saudi Arabia Religious Council Says

Allowing women to drive in Saudi Arabia would mean no more virgins and an increase in homosexuality, according to academics at Saudi Arabia’s highest religious council, Majlis al-Ifta' al-A'ala, it has been reported in the Telegraph.

More pornography would be used if women were allowed on the roads and rates of prostitution and divorce would also rise, the report stated.

Produced in conjunction with Kamal Subhi, a former professor at the King Fahd University, the study into repealing the ban predicted that there would be no more virgins left in the Arab kingdom in 10 years.

Saudi Arabia is the only country in the world which bans women from driving.

Professor Subhi described sitting in a coffee shop in an unnamed Arab state where “all the women were looking at me“.

“One made a gesture that made it clear that she was available,” he said. “This is what happens when women are allowed to drive.”

The report was produced for the country's legislative assembly, the Shura Council. However this institution has no power as Saudi Arabia is ruled by a monarchy with absolute power.

The state’s controversial ban on female drivers last came under attack in September after Shaima Jastaniya was sentenced to 10 lashes just days after Saudi King Abdullah granted women the right to vote. The punishment was overturned after international and domestic pressure.

Saudi Arabia is currently considering a law for women to cover up their eyes if they are deemed too"tempting."

Why does your blog only seem to bash the Christian faith? Honestly, I don't see the need to bash any faith at all, though. There are so many faiths and religions that people around the world practice and it means a lot to them and their culture. I understand you believe what you believe and you criticize some things in current events regarding faith in a God. You must not have actually looked though this blog, I’ll give you the benefit of doubt though and say maybe you only looked at the first few pages? Whatever.

This blog doesn’t ‘only bash the Christian faith’, dearest, it ‘bashes’ all faiths. I just happen to live in an area where Christianity is the predominant faith, so of course there’s a hell of a lot of it in the news for me to get incredibly annoyed at.

If you actually went back through the archives properly, you’d find Islam and Sikhism also mentioned - and if I find things about other faiths, they also get mentioned.

Honestly? I don’t give a flying fuck if people’s faiths mean a lot to them. People can do what ever the fuck they want on their own time, on their own property and in their own heads.

As soon as people start shoving their private faiths into the public? Into schools and politics and hospitals?

That’s when I start getting pissed off. Because you know what?

A religions age, cultural standing and huge amount of followers does not make it real. Religious beliefs are nothing but fantasy. Pretty fantasies, sure, sometimes, but fantasies all the same.

So forcing them into places where what we need is empirical truth and reality? I see that as a bad thing.

So I get annoyed. And I post about it. I spread awareness. In the hopes that other people will also see that it is bad. In the hopes that one day governments and teaching bodies and health officials will realise that pretty fantasies have nothing to do with their jobs and keep them the fuck out of them.

So, really, Nonnie. You can go ahead and be offended on behalf of the biggest and most oppressive fucking religion on the planet, if you really want to, but I’m going to continue in my corner here to spread awareness and, possibly, swear a lot.

I regard monotheism as the greatest disaster ever to befall the human race.
