The Adventure of Black Peter cover by Frederic Dorr Steele (1904)
What are some quotes from ACD Holmes canon that you can’t believe that Conan Doyle actually SAT DOWN AND WROTE THAT AND IT WAS PUBLISHED IN AN ACTUAL MAGAZINE FOR HUMANS TO READ WITH THEIR EYES?
Okay, we already talk about Three Garridebs every day of the week, but my specialty is adaptations and there currently isn't a visual adaptation of That Scene.
It doesn't exist. Brett didn't get to it before he got ill, Rathbone got stuck in the 1940s doing non canon stories, Merrison did it but he was on the radio and I truly believe that no director has been able to find a way to film it!
Literally the closest I can offer you is a cartoon robot getting shot and thrown in a river in Sherlock Holmes In The 22nd Century.
There's a reason for this.
Sometimes I lie awake at night thinking about how we were robbed of the Granada adaptation of Three Garridebs, but I also know that my heart probably could not have taken Jeremy and Edward Hardwicke's interpretation of THAT scene without exploding so maybe it's for the best. :')
I console myself mainly by writing fic after fic after fic where Watson is shot in creative ways and is cared for by Holmes.
Is it possible Beekeepers Picnic can lay claim to the first visual adaptation of that scene? That doesn't seem possible, but I can't think of another? 🤔
Anyway my vote is for:
Now, Watson, I want you to do something for me.”
“I am here to be used, Holmes.”
“Well, then, spend the next twenty-four hours in an intensive study of Chinese pottery.”
He gave no explanations and I asked for none.
Just for being an absolutely wild interaction between two people.
A minute later a carriage and engine could be seen flying along the open curve which leads to the station. We had hardly time to take our place behind a pile of luggage when it passed with a rattle and a roar, beating a blast of hot air into our faces. —The Final Problem

If I say something like "If I get 500 boops I'll post a preview ofHolmes and Watson's voices here"
is that abusing my power or

Anyway...
From my game The Beekeeper's Picnic!
I'm a huge fan of that series, which might have something to do with it!

Nearly finished with this 224b Baker Street miniature! Theres a few more bits to go, and I’ve got a vacation and some other projects coming up, but it’ll be done soon 💜 Most importantly, the lighting is wired because we’d hate to keep our detectives in the dark.
Thank you to @squivulous for letting me use their Fawx & Stallion poster art!!!
I just finished reading ACD's memoir and one thing I picked up from it is that apparently he only became a doctor because his mother told him to get a medical degree so he could make money, he was never successful at it, and he was thrilled when he was finally able to quit medicine and become a full-time writer. Reading between the lines, it's possible he never actually liked being a doctor very much, and I feel like that kind of puts a different spin on Watson constantly ditching his practice to go run around with Holmes... like the idea of having this manic pixie dream detective come and snatch you away from your boring job that you hate and into a life of ~adventure~ is totally wish fulfillment lol.
