June 20, 2016 Mercury, Saturn, Neptune T-Square
A T-square is an acute aspect interplay between three signs sharing the same modality. On June 20, 2016, Mercury in Gemini will make an almost exact opposition to Saturn in Sagittarius squaring Neptune in Pisces, creating a mutable T-square. T-square events traditionally suggest progression in some form, lead by the apex planet, in this case being Neptune in Pisces, who under the pressure of two squares is forced to perform. There are no release valves with a T-square, oppositions and squares both signify challenging aspects where conflict must be reconciled with motion, it is mandatory that we move. With Neptune contacting Saturn, ideals and vision is sculpted by realism and form. The legitimacy of Neptune’s fantasy and delirium is called into question. Saturn accepts only what is sound and tangible. This can create a conflict between speculation and reality, often the borders between material and immaterial are cloudy and ill defined. Saturn calcifies Neptune’s flight of fancy, it can turn the third eye blind without deep reflection. Historically, aspect patterns between Saturn and Neptune have signified the swelling and the destruction of communism. Neptune is concerned with collective matters, while Saturn governs autocracy, political order, and government, so the cohesion of these two planets has corresponded with political movement and change. Imagination and idealism is forced through a logical texture.
Currently, Australia and the US are running election campaigns. It will be interesting to observe how long politicians can continue to make grandiose Neptune promises before Saturn demands order. The collective’s view of reality is impressionable, and willing for equality and compassion at any price. Saturn is a disciplinary. Lost individuals dwelling on the outskirts of society, wrapped in Neptune vices like addiction or psychosis, or minority groups may be reprimanded, threatened, and even further exiled. With Mercury in Gemini, these individuals may be given a voice, possibly through the political stage. Journalism is a profession traditionally ruled by Mercury and Gemini, so articles and media at this point in time may focus on collective issues of concern and holding either politicians to account regarding these matters, or the individual enforcing the self sufficiency of Saturn. Both Mercury and Neptune are symbolized by the trickster archetype, so the mind can be easily misguided when these planets contact. While the gift of intellectual fantasy and creative reverie is rich, storytelling becomes non fiction. The danger here is projecting dream into reality and forming only lies and deceit. It creates a climate where the powers to be, those represented by Saturn oligarchy are in a position to easily fool the collective. This is when the sugar of consciousness, I love that term by Alan Oken, a product of Mercury, creates the awareness of this happening. Being level headed is the most important, though the seemingly impossible guard.
On this day the Sun will enter Cancer and make an opposition to Moon in Sagittarius. Jupiter rules Sagittarius and exalts in Cancer, so the wealth of the inner world created by Mercury-Neptune expands and facilitates a period of philosophical introspection and dreamy introspection in a lunar transience. In the days coming, Jupiter in Virgo will make a square to Mercury and form a mutable grand cross in the week following. In mutable spirit, this generates a need for change, new experience, and unusual uncertainty. With the fullness of a Cancer moon, emotions may be easily inflamed, and force even more conflict and confusion. Neptune as the apex may be the redeemer. Neptune is a soother and a symbol of retribution. The radiance of the spiritual sun brings an elevating dimension to this whole phenomena. Saturn is a master key, formidable and wise, the doorway of Neptune can be opened with clear eyes, and the mind of Mercury is here to observe it all.
