I don’t know how to explain this well…but I’m 30 years old and I feel like I’ve had to ‘sacrifice’ my entire adult life to unprecedented times, the pandemic and daily anxiety over hateful politicians and whatever rights they want to take away on any given day and I’m just so fucking tired

I don't know. Obviously every fandom is creative and all that, but something I really admire about the Dracula fandom here on Tumblr is that we really are so committed to writing the change that we want to see in our stories. And like obviously we're not the only fandom to do this, but I think with us there's just like. Because mainstream media has never done right by us, we don't have any hope that mainstream media is going to do right by us, so we just roll up our sleeves and are like okay well every single writer in the entire world except us seemed to have missed the part where Jonathan said he would become a vampire before letting Mina suffer alone. So we're going to have to make our own content. And we do. We got independent novels. And there's so much collaborative stuff out there. Blood of my Blood, League of Extraordinary Gentlefolk... Holmwood Foundation. Murray Mysteries, Re: Dracula. And all these things are just free to access... We've really given ourselves our own creative content. It's fun to be here with you all.

I think some of what it is is that this is a smaller fandom than others I have been actively involved in, so it's not like there are more creative projects, it just seems homier and more personable because it's like oh there's x I see their posts all the time and I can match them up to some badass creative project they're doing right now + there's y their comic is coming out piecemeal + there's z and their new fic is out! Like every other fandom I've been in maybe I've followed like one of the major writers on Tumblr, but if I'm reading fic it just tends to be from people who I really only know from their AO3 page, whereas on here all of the significant stories I've read, I follow the person on Tumblr. Always a blog behind the name if you will. Maybe that's normal for other people but it sticks out to me

If your democrat friends start muttering about stolen election conspiracy theories, the time to have a sit down with them and express your concerns is NOW, while you still have a chance to reach them, not 6 months from now when they're fully conspiracy-pilled.

I worked as an election judge across multiple polling locations and election types in my state from 2018-2023 (presidential primary and general elections, midterms, and special elections like for the school board etc.)

US elections are extremely secure. There are so many safeguards in place. Everything is double and triple counted.

The number of ballots electronically counted by the box are checked against the number of physical ballots at the end of the night, and also the receipt papers that individuals exchange for their ballot. All three of these counts MUST MATCH. Sometimes you're off by 1 number and it means everyone stops and triple counts these papers until you find the error (human error, it's been 16 hours and two pieces of thin receipt paper were stuck together and the second person to recount finds it and everyone cheers because thank fuck, it means no one dropped anything on the floor anywhere.)

There are eyes everywhere and there's a deliberate mix of poll workers across political parties/affiliations. It's simply not possible to alter even 1 ballot at 1 polling place, much less thousands.

Unfortunately, Donald Trump won this election. If there was interference, it was NOT at the voting booth. That's simply not possible. The "interference" (if you can even call it that) comes from right wing propaganda convincing stupid and/or hateful and/or selfish people to vote for him.

As a former election judge from Maryland I can confirm this. I volunteered for years as a student aid and when I turned 18, I volunteered as an election judge for a cycle (primary and general election). The process is exceptionally thorough and incredibly detailed. Everything from the machines, to the checking in process, to the actual votes themselves is carefully constructed to be as exacting as possible. I won't go so far as to say its impossible to submit a fraudulent vote, but swinging a whole election illegally? Thats about as likely as breathing on Mars.

I won't lie to you, I am devastated by this elections outcome and have never been more terrified. There definitely is a part of my brain willing to cling to anything that makes this whole nightmare go away. Unfortunately, if any laws were broken it likely wasn't at the polls or the counting afterwards. Not that that's a source of much comfort, but at least its something to know.

Demons and monsters that torture people because they feed on human suffering are so dumb. People are suffering everywhere my guy go literally any place and take a deep whiff.

Monster that feeds on suffering becomes a professional caretaker for people with chronic pain and terminal illnesses. They can't change the fact that these people are suffering, but they help a bit and in the meantime they're fat and happy off that Sweet Sweet ambient pain in the air.

Two towns over there's a demon lord trying to get their cult to abduct people for torture, but they keep getting stopped by heroes and the like, so they're barely scraping by. Meanwhile Belogarth the Registered PCA is chowing down on back pain, medication side effects and looming mortality for eight hours a day and has become the most powerful demon on earth without realizing it.

"But don't their clients feel weird knowing that they're feeding off their suffering?" No they think it's hilarious and they're real shits about it.

Finally a medical professional who believes that they are in pain. Because the fucker is actively chowing down on your agony. Not only am I going to get treated by them I'm going to invite all of my chronically ill friends to come as well.

Turns out if you treat the pain then the humans will bring you more humans who are suffering. It's like a restaurant where the waiter is so impressed by your ability to eat food they're giving you more on the house

ok last thing. but what people fundamentally need to get through their heads is the significance of gaza fundraisers not being the same as like mutual aid when you're helping someone get groceries, because it is a genocide. there is insane deliberate scarcity and prices are unmanageable, because there is nowhere nearly enough for everyone, so only people who can pay can eat. and what positioning individual fundraisers as the only course of action does is quite simply give a tiny percentage of random people whose fundraisers take off the ability to pay those prices while thousands of others can't. and every one of those thousands of people without a fundraiser is suffering through the same inconceivably horrific reality. it is giving a few completely desperate people out of hundreds of thousands a slightly more favorable position in a horrific war economy of imposed scarcity. and what grassroots community kitchens do is try to mitigate in some small way that inconceivable hierarchy of who can pay and who can't, by stretching ingredients as far as they can last to cook meals at large scale and give them out at no cost. and obviously people are still going to send money to their friends and families because this is hell what else are we supposed to do but please just think about that before promoting endless individual fundraisers as somehow the most ethical way to help

Operation Olive Branch has a spreadsheet dedicated to mutual aid, local distro, community kitchens, etc. in Gaza.

This is a good place to start if seeking to donate to a community resilience action. Just contact the group(s) directly to make sure they are still active. Life in Gaza and Palestine is full of uncertainty.
