Donald Trump, Asshole of the Day for September 12, 2014

In some ways, Donald Trump is like any other racist moron who still can’t accept that America has a black President. In others, he’s just like an average Fox News viewer--an uninformed dolt who refuses to give Obama any credit for turning the economy around following the Bush crash and the worst financial crisis in 80 years. But unlike your average dumb racist, Donald Trump also plays the role of “successful businessman” in an elaborate con game he’s been working on the less-educated members of the populace for years. His idiocy goes unchallenged when he appears on the fact-free morning show Fox & Friends. And many of his 2.7M Twitter followers seem to be under the illusion that he: a) may still decide to run for President; and b) would be good at it. More than anything else, Trump is a proud and opportunistic asshole. So when news outlets reported that a Trump-owned golf course had denied President Obama a tee time over Labor Day weekend so as not to inconvenience its members, Trump seized the opportunity to milk the story and, yes, be an even bigger—and more disrespectful—asshole than his club manager had already been. He tweeted:

Needless to say, both the “lamestream media” and the RWNJ birthersphere took the bait. Too few, though, have pointed out the fallacy at the center of his offer. Obama leaving office would not be “a great service to the country.” Calling Obama an economic failure, which Trump frequently does, is something only a moron who told Americans not to buy stocks after the crash in 2008 —right before the greatest five-year accumulation of wealth in America history was about to begin—would do. In fact, Forbes recently crunched the data, and declared that Obama has outperformed even St. Ronald Reagan in terms of jobs, growth and investing.

For saying he'd offer up one of his golf courses as an incentive for a President he's lied about and insulted for almost six years to quit his job, Trump is Asshole of the Day.

This is Trump’s sixth time as Asshole of the Day. 

Mitch McConnell, Asshole of the Day for August 20, 2014

Perhaps no one symbolizes the dysfunction of US government as much as Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.

After 30 years in the Senate, McConnell is running a disastrous re-election campaign against the dynamic and charismatic Alison Lundergan Grimes. McConnell recently told Kentucky's long-suffering voters that it wasn't his job to bring jobs to the state. Just yesterday, he was slammed again for neglecting Kentucky's farmers.

In the midst of America's worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, McConnell spent four shameful years trying to sabotage President Obama's recovery efforts, in a smug, Un-American attempt to focus on his number one priority of "making Obama a one-term President." McConnell's unprecedented use of the filibuster helped push the GOP's approval ratings to record lows. Just last year, the GOP shutdown cost the country another $24 billion in a futile attempt to sabotage the Affordable Care Act and derail the Obama recovery.

What reason could there possibly be to vote for Mitch in 2014? His answer came today: MORE SABOTAGE! McConnell told Politico that if he somehow beats Lundergan Grimes and the GOP regains a Senate majority, he will put ANOTHER government shutdown back on the table --unless Obama caves to the ridiculous demands of Teapublican extremists.

Simply put, Mitch's message to voters: Vote for me. Together, we can destroy America.

This is McConnell's 4th time as Asshole of the Day.

Dick Cheney, Asshole of the Day for February 26, 2014

You know he's a Dick. But as he can't help reminding us, he's also an Asshole. 

In an interview on Monday with Fox News, Cheney said that President Obama would: "much rather spend money on Food Stamps than on a strong military or support for our troops."

Cheney was slammed immediately for ignoring the fact that many of our current troops rely on Food Stamps--$100 million-worth were used at military grocery stores in 2013 alone. Not to mention the fact that 900,000 veterans nationwide--many of whom served in the unnecessary Iraq War that Cheney himself lied us into--rely on the SNAP program to feed themselves and their families.

But it took Major General Paul D. Eaton--who commanded troops during Operation Iraqi Freedom--to really remind us what a despicable piece of work Cheney is to this day: "Vice President Cheney is one of the architects of the worst foreign policy disaster of the 21st century," Eaton said. "We're young, but the decision to attack Iraq, and to do so in such an incompetent manner, does not give him a platform to say anything about the foreign policy under execution today."

In other words, it's Chickenhawk Cheney's own record--putting our troops in harm's way in an ill-planned war that had no legitimate justification--that shows the ultimate lack of respect. So even if the point Cheney was making was valid--which it wasn't--he should have enough respect for our current, Iraq-War-ending, Bin-Laden-killing President to keep his mouth shut.

Asshole.

Asshole of the Day for September 30, 2013: John Boehner

You might think the party that caused the worst financial crisis in 80 years would dedicate itself for generations to trying to help the prevent additional economy-crushing disasters.

You might think that a House Speaker who won his job after famously announcing in was "time to put the grown-ups in charge" would try to act like an adult.

But this is America in the age of black Presidents, the GOP in the age of the Tea Party, not to mention an age in which the public now views the party of Reagan as nothing more than a "bunch of spoiled children."

For manufacturing yet another crisis that has brought the most powerful nation on earth to the brink of disaster yet again, Speaker of the House John Boehner is, to put it mildly, Asshole of the Day.

Asshole of the Day for September 25, 2013: Ted Cruz

By now you've probably heard about what John McCain has called Texas Senator Ted Cruz's "extended oratory" against Obamacare on the Senate floor. 

"Technically what Ted Cruz did wasn't a filibuster," reported Tea Party Cat, "it was really a telethon."

In truth, Cruz's highly publicized speech was, indeed, a massive fundraiser for the Koch Brothers and their various front groups.

But Ted Cruz's "oratory" went too far for many Republicans, including John McCain who made clear that he thinks the Texas Koch-sucker is a total asshole.

The biggest insult: Cruz's comment comparing Obamacare supporters--plus anyone who values US democracy, the law and is willing to abide by a Supreme Court's majority ruling--to Nazi appeasers.

"I resoundingly reject that allegation," said McCain. "(It) does... a great disservice to those brave Americans and those who stood up and said, 'what's happening in Europe cannot stand.'"

Not to mention only an asshole would compare those who allowed the Holocaust to happen with those who want to give your loved ones guaranteed medical coverage for their pre-existing conditions,

As soon as the theatrics were over, Cruz joined 99 other Senators in a unanimous vote to allow debate to continue.

Asshole.

Asshole of the Day, August 21, 2013: Mark Judge

No surprise here. Anyone who gets hired by The Daily Caller's Asshole-in-Chief Tucker Carlson clearly has to pass some kind of Shameless Hack Aptitude Test.

Tucker must have been very excited by the pathetic piece of anti-Obama bullshit Mark Judge submitted today. He ran it as an opinion piece headlined: "Barack Obama: The First Female President."

It's the kind of puerile journalism we've come to expect from Carlson's increasingly embarrassing website.

Let's leave aside the fact that Obama's leadership puts to shame the legacy of America's last Republican President, George W. Bush.... Bin Laden's dead. GM's alive. Stock are up 100%. Home prices are rebounding. We've had 41 months of private sector job growth. And Obamacare's the law of the land.

Instead let's focus instead on the "insult" Judge (and Carlson) are throwing at Obama. Using "female" as an insult reveals the basic contempt that the conservative boy's club has for women. 

In addition to the misogyny and Obama hate that fuels his thinking, The Atlantic Wire points out that Judge attempts--and fails--to make his case by relying on a grab-bag of reheated arguments that are tired, lazy and unconvincing.

But for implying that neither Obama nor women have discipline, self-reliance or honor, Mark Judge has convinced us he's Asshole of the Day.
