Ooooooh, love this!! Love getting to explore different clergy roles! I love getting to play with the origins of Era IV!

Era IV Jobs Before the Ghost Project

Aether: Aether was summoned when the ministry decided to start training successor ghouls to the current ghoul leaders. Air had finally stepped down as Beta ghoul, and the ministry was afraid others would do the same. Ather was summoned specially to become the next Omega ghoul. While Aether has his own powers of healing that took over as his main duties, he mainly shadowed the head quintessence ghoul. This included a lot of traveling, learning about Earth and human culture, and working with many different types of ghouls. There was also a lot of personal assistance to the Emeritus line, as aether ghoul healing is more effective for demon blood than normal human medicine.

When Omega was on his tours, Aether took care of his business in his stead to test how close he was to being ready. Aether was never originally meant to take part in the Ghost project until a few albums ahead. But with Omega’s sudden departure and being needed back in the Clergy, Aether was once again tested by being a band substitute. Luckily, he was a natural and has been proving himself as the next head ghoul! Handling both responsibilities and the pressure of being the Omega Ghoul.

Cumulus: Cumulus has been around for a few decades and has served enthusiastically. Her first decade was as an assistant to Papa I- her summoner. Namely as his ritual assistant and with his paperwork. She has always had a good eye for detail and organization, with a queenly air of authority about her. But Papa believes in letting his ghouls flourish to their strong suits. Until Copia’s ascension, Cumulus has been the lively and loyal personal ghoul to Sister Imperator. Serving as everything from bodyguard, personal confidant, and even enforcer to the Mother Superior. Cumulus was the very first selected for the job of band ghoul when it was Copia’s turn to head the Ghost project.

Imperator wanted a ghoul who was smart, capable, and with a good grasp of leadership to help supervise the other ghouls. Cumulus was also vouched for by Air. Her and Cirrus were both personally trained by the older ghoul when he was looking for a successor for the Beta ghoul position. While neither were chosen for that particular duty, Cumulus is happy to be a part of the band. She still keeps in touch with Imperator and sometimes acts as though she is Copia’s manager. If something goes wrong or needs to be done, Cumulus is the first to know.

Cirrus: Cirrus has gone back and forth between two duties. Serving the current Imperator and studying under the former Beta ghoul, Air. Cirrus is a tough cookie and has been a ghoulish enforcer for many abbies. Essentially keeping ghouls and siblings in line when it comes to fights or rule breaking. There are always ghouls who make sure the will of the clergy is followed and those who commit crimes are punished. This was her preferred job, rather than work with Air. Who tended to find stuffy, traditional research more important. Cirrus, as calm as she is, prefers hands on work. She’s also worked security detail for all of the Papas but most importantly, Grand Papa Nihil. Cirrus is a long time bodyguard (and baby sitter) for the Grandpapa and Sister Imperator.

Cirrus was recommended by both Cumulus and Air- since they were both practically raised by Air to be potential leader ghouls. Nihil was particularly sad to see Cirrus disappear from his entourage, but agreed she would be a wonderful fit. Also Nihil and Imperator can agreed that Cirrus keeps Copia in line by her sheer intimidating presence and powerful aura. Cirrus would be lying if she said she didn’t also enjoy the chance to do something more fun and get away from the clergy for a bit!

Mountain: Although Mountain was summoned by Papa II, he was never strictly a ghoul for the Emeritus. Personally summoned ghouls tend to be bodyguards or close entourage for their Papal summoners. For a couple of decades Mountain was an effective and reliable body guard for Papa II. But Papa eventually realized his ghoul’s talents were being wasted. Stone ghouls have been shown to have natural strength beyond most ghouls and a good eye for architecture. Mountain has been responsible for helping build new cathedrals, quarters, and even clearing land. His level headedness and bluntness have also been excellent when working with Papa II, who has supervised many of these new buildings.

Mountain being assigned to go with Copia was actually a sort of ‘good faith loan’ from Papa II. Don’t get me wrong, Papa II does NOT like Copia. He finds him opportunistic and a usurping leech… However, Copia IS chosen by Lucifer. Papa II cares about his ministry MORE than he hates Copia. Since he hasn’t had Mountain as a bodyguard for years he decides to recommend him. After all, it also looks good on him for being generous enough to support the newest singer of the band. The Ministry was happy, mainly to let the Cardinal practice working with ghouls of different types and skill sets to delegate. On tour he was accepted and chosen for both his natural talents but to help balance out all of the incredibly strong personalities of the current ghouls.

Rain: Rain was a very behind the scenes ghoul, and rarely worked in the public congregation. He was the archivist assistant to the current head water ghoul, Delta. Delta is one of the oldest serving ghouls who now takes care of the Ministry’s protected collections of records. Rain has happily kept a quiet existence processing old and new registrations for the entire ministry. At one point Rain had studied directly under Delta with Water and Mist- all powerful water ghouls who are being trained for greater works. Rain loved playing music but never considered himself one to be ever picked for anything but reorganizing entire archives and dusting off old books.

Rain was recommended by Mist after her short stint with the Ghost project and Papa III. While she wanted to go on tour, she was needed elsewhere to train. She could vouch for Rain’s hard work and need to open up and embrace his potential. Copia was happy to take the water ghoul, as was shown to have indelible talent and an agreeable personality. The touring has definitely made Rain want to be more active in the ministry and with his fellow ghouls.

Swiss: Swiss was actually pretty high ranked before he became a band ghoul! While not part of the leader ghouls for the entire ministry, Swiss was the top ghoul in one of the main cathedrals outside of the head abbey. This meant he directed, advocated, and watched over all of the ghouls a part of the cathedral. Making sure all duties were done and all ghouls were taken care of. Swiss is a pretty strong ghoul in his own right. While he is fire he was born from two mixed ghouls of different elements. So he is well versed in different elemental energies and knowledge. His easy going nature and quick wit makes him a favorite among siblings and ghouls alike. Higher Clergy also worked with him to make accommodations and holidays for the ghouls.

Swiss was hand picked by Copia who worked with him pre Ghost project. Copia has always valued Swiss’s hard work and ability to get along with everyone he met. Swiss was agreed by Imperator and the ministry to be a great ghoul. Not just in vocals but bringing everyone together and interacting with the fans and staff. Swiss accepted the position with glee. He loves doing ceremonies at his home abbey, and a Ritual is nothing different- just bigger! Plus, Swiss will never turn down a chance to sing.

Ember: Ember has been strong but an entire pain in the ass of the Ministry for a LONG time. There have been many times he was almost sent back to Hell because he was difficult to control. Ember has calmed down in recent years, but he can still be a bit of a thorn in everyone's side. But he has so much potential within the Ministry, he’s too valuable of an asset. At first he was summoned as the potential candidate to be the next Alpha ghoul, for when Alpha eventually steps down. But to help him adjust to the responsibilities he had been shipped to many places with many duties. He’s been everything from a guard, to ritual assistant, to attack dog.

Eventually he found a spot with Papa III right before he went on tour as his bodyguard. Their energies actually worked very well together and he was one of the few before Copia who was able to give him the right outlets he needed. Ember was hand chosen to be a bassist by Papa III when Alpha had to return with Omega to the Ministry. Ember had originally asked to be guitarist, but the Ministry was interested in testing Ifrit to be the next Alpha ghoul. Ember was just happy to play but was absolutely thrilled when Copia asked for him to play head guitar.

Oooooh perfect since it's almost October!! I went ahead and did all of Era IV and then just added the older ghouls I love writing for the most. Hope that is ok!

Era IV and Older Ghouls Reacting to Werewolves in The Clergy

Special: Special is an odd ghoul who always values the out of the ordinary and unique. He’s always delighted when a non-human joins, because there is so much possibility! You never know how the other humans are going to react, or how the werewolves will find clergy life. But he has been around for a couple of centuries, so he’s seen his good handful of were-siblings. Always finds them a delightful conversation.

Omega: He, like Special, has been around so long that Werewolves don’t surprise him anymore. Omega is more concerned about the other ghouls and humans acting like idiots and either being terrified of the werewolves or trying to pick fights. A lot of younger ghouls can be protective and territorial with predatory species, so it’s instinct to protect their home. Omega as the head aether ghoul has had to mediate a LOT of ghoul started fights. That, and Omega has had to use his powers to calm down humans who immediately start to panic.

Alpha: As head fire ghoul Alpha considers himself just that- the Alpha of almost everyone in the clergy. Werewolves typically have their own pack statuses and politics, but Alpha doesn’t care. He wants any werewolves to follow HIS lead and respect HIM as the one in charge. Alpha has a history of having to physically assert his dominance over other fire summoned ghouls (which is just typical fire ghoul behavior, nothing unusual). Alpha will GLADLY do the same thing if a werewolf wants to challenge him for position. OTher than that? Indifferent unless they become friends.

Ifrit: Actually LOVES werewolves! He ends up always getting along with them the best. A lot of werewolves have the same type of mentality and social etiquette that Ifrit’s particular fire tribe has. So for him it’s like having a very furry fellow ghoul cousin that transforms. Ifrit is one of the ghouls who will happily mediate between any werewolves and other fire ghouls (who are notoriously stand offish). You’ll usually see him bridge the gap between any species, as he is always super friendly!

Air: As the oldest ghoul in the world (™) Air remembers a century where werewolves flocked to the Ministry for protection. It was around the time of the witch hunts and other human fear driven mobs. Many werewolves came to the clergy for safety and in turn served the Emeritus bloodline. He’s not particularly phased by them, as his curiosity died a long time ago. So long as they don’t try to challenge him, Air doesn’t care.

Aether: Like Omega, Aether is more worried that other people (and Ember) might freak out when they find out a new member is a werewolf. Aether is a very accepting ghoul, so a part of him would feel awful if someone was turned away from Lucifer because they are different. That, and he doesn’t want anyone picking fights for no reason (mostly, again, Ember.) Aether likes to be welcoming and help everyone get settled in.

Cirrus: The air ghoulette is always weary around any new members- regardless of species. But she is low key a very VERY protective ghoul. Cirrus grew up in a part of Hell where you had to be cautious of every other living thing outside of your tribe to survive. So she carries this with her on Earth. She is much more open to regular humans now, especially crowds since she has been in the band. But anything that can fight a ghoul and win? On her radar. Cirrus will still be very polite and talk if needed, but she won’t take her eyes off of the werewolf.

Cumulus: Cumulus has never met a werewolf, so would be eager to introduce herself! She’s polite enough to not bombard them with too many questions. But the ghoulette won’t say no to a good story or two! She will be the first one to apologize if any of the other band ghouls come off weird or combative (mostly Ember and Swiss.) Cumulus will try to not be overbearing in her attempts at friendship, should that be possible and they both mesh well. She’s very quick to remind others that they need to treat their new werewolf friend with respect.

Swiss: Aside from fighting the irresistible urge to make furry jokes? Not much reaction! He’s just happy to see more new faces and get to know other people. Swiss has always been laid back for a fire ghoul, so he never understood the whole territorial fight thing. So long as the werewolf isn’t hurting anyone and their transformations aren’t going to kill anyone, who cares? Lucifer is about loving everyone and embracing the social outcasts. It’d be hypocritical to look at other non-humans that way!

Rain: Curious, but is friendly nonetheless. Rain is a very easy going ghoul that isn’t intimidated or scared by new species if they give him no reason to be! The way he sees things, that if someone is invited to the clergy for whatever reason they are friends and allies. Human, fae, werewolf, or eldritch? Doesn’t matter. Lucifer accepts everyone so long as they mean no harm to those in the congregation. Rain, if allowed, might ask a few questions. He’s only seen werewolves in human movies and doesn’t want to make assumptions.

Mountain: More curious than anything. There aren’t many other creatures in Hell as intelligent as ghoul, save for demons and the occasional spirit. Mountain is keen to ask many questions, should the werewolf be ok with it. The ghoul will then ask if the werewolf needs help adjusting to human cultural norms and if he can be assistance! Everyone in the band is shocked that Mountain makes a friend so fast!

Ember: It really depends on what the individual werewolf is like and how territorial or hostile they can be. Ember has always been protective of his homes and friends, so he can easily be set off by the presence of a predatory typed non-human. If the werewolf in question is very chill, Ember doesn’t mind after the initial shock of seeing a not-human around. If the werewolf is also aggressive and territorial? Well, they both have to be immediately separated and monitored for now on if they HAVE to cross paths. Ember tends to get obnoxious when he is defending his home.

Papa III and his Ghouls Preparing for Halloween

Halloween is celebrated by Papa and his ghouls in different ways depending on which part of his era you are looking at. Before and after, he mostly participates in the parties and fun- enjoying the holiday and merriment it provides. During his full reign he had a lot more responsibility for the day. Papa despised having the be the one in charge as it meant getting to do all of the BORING things that come with being a Papa. But he always took his job very seriously, even if it meant being literally late to the Halloween party.

The Church follows it's own version of Samhain, and with it comes with it's practices and needs. Think of it like a mixture of Samhain, a harvest festival, a stereotypical Satanic sacrifice, and Halloween. It's an incredibly important day for the Congregation!

The day is meant to be a festivity on glutting on the bounties of the Ministry's harvest- literally and figuratively. To celebrate the food and wealth their conquests has brought them. It also honors the previous leaders, Papas, and siblings of the churches who visit in the night. It's about to turn to winter and everyone thanks Lucifer for keeping them warm and fed during it.

As Papa, III gets to be the one to lead the prayers and ceremony. It involves a morning sermon, leading the other high ministry in a more private blood sacrifice, and then ends with an annual sermon conducted right before festivities are started for the night. So Papa is a very busy guy! Not to mention he also plans his OWN fun! He's tired by the end of all of it!

As for the ghouls? They have to help their Papa after all! It's their job! This means they have to help him get paperwork sent in, help him wrangle all of the clergy members he needs, and just listen to him bitch about wanting to have fun while getting him coffee. Though the ghouls DO have their own special tasks and then free time after the fact. After all, this is the one night of the year they are allowed to shed glamour and run around in their true forms!

Omega: Being the head aether ghoul means he HAS to take part in all of the important ceremony duties. He's basically the ghoul representative in this ritual, after Special. Omega is the one keeping everything in line and keeping Papa from ripping his hair out with stress. He does his part perfectly every year. Typically, he's partying with Papa once dismissed. Omega is most interested in the food as he has a huge apatite. And getting to stretch his limbs out of glamour.

Alpha: Bonfires are a huge part of the festivities every Halloween. Fire ghouls are the best at keeping hot, ever burning fires but they need a lot of supervision. Alpha is that ghoul. He also has to be the one to keep the working ghouls going and over seeing it. Hates to be in the office with the paper work, so Papa let's him over see the construction of party and ritual spaces. He's also expected to be part of the rituals themselves, like Omega. Once he's free from duty he goes nuts and parties with the rest of the congregation.

Water: Hates having to do prep work, but isn't as vocal about it as Alpha. He will happily get things done so long as it means he doesn't have to hear Papa bitch all day. Luckily, while as Papa's ghoul he DOES have to be in the ceremony, his responsibility isn't as great as it is for the head ghouls. He does his part and plays nice. But once he's allowed off he sheds glamour immediately and jumps into the partying. Water loves to drink himself silly and impress all of the siblings with his true form. Is the one with the biggest hang over.

Earth: The one ghoul of Papa's who is a little too cheerful to be doing all of the preparation work. As an Earth ghoul, the harvest aspect has always been very important in Hell culture. It reminds him of home, and he's happy to make sure everything is in order! Earth is the one that puts all the extra effort for this. Like asking Papa if they can double the budget for pumpkins and apples for the siblings, and helping Papa pick out table runner colors and decorations. Also the one who will eat so much candy and be grateful he can't get sick.

Air: As a former head ghoul, he no longer has as much responsibility. However, he's still asked to help lead the ghouls in the coming ceremonies. No one ever finds him after being dismissed. Air relishes being in his true form and wants every moment he can to himself. That's why every year siblings talk about a rumor of an actual gargoyle that lives in the highest spire of the cathedral. Every year you can hear it and see it flying in the moonlight with it's giant wings!

Oh Hell yeah!! I wasn’t sure if this was supposed to be friendship or romantic, so I went back and forth depending on the Papa! 

The Papas with a Punk Thrasher Girl(friend)

Papa Nihil: Your whole aesthetic is a blast from the past to Nihil. He remembers the days when Punk and Goth first started appearing. Despite getting out of the music scene, he’s had many members of the congregation come into the ministry from these scenes. Nihil was amused when you both got talking about music and he actually knew all of the good old bands, not just the classics everyone thinks of! He’s not too much into going out with you to down town, unless it’s for pizza. You typically make pizza and beer runs when he has the time. And it’s nice for him to know you have no problem cussing anyone out for making fun of him hanging out with you while he’s older than the crypt keeper. He’s also happy to show you his autograph collection from your favorite bands! 

Papa I: Admittedly, Papa has not met a lot of people like you until he became a singer! You both met at one of Ghost’s EARLY shows. You were one of the people they invited to join the clergy and you happily accepted. Papa was so pleased to meet you, especially after the blunt yet impassioned excitement you showed for joining! It nearly made his eyes widen when you blatantly told him you didn’t care WHO he was, just that he better be a better Papa than ‘those crusty old men in those other churches.’ Your rough and honest manner was immediately welcomed, and you ended up bonding with Alpha on top of it. Which impressed Papa, as many sometimes can’t handle the fire ghoul! Papa saw bright things for you in the clergy and felt your ‘hip young look’ would be the type to attract others during shows! 

Papa II: Many people automatically assume you AREN’T his type! Easy to assume, since he’s a man of refined taste. Often attending fancier restaurants and parties, Papa is thought of as the clergy’s #1 gentleman. However, he is a man who loves to party! In his youth, especially, he was known for trying any dive or bar that looked like a good time! Papa appreciates your bluntness and ability to not give a shit about what others think of you. You are the person who follows the beat of their own drum, and are never sorry about it! There is something fascinating about your penchant for studs and ripped jeans over pearls and velvet. Papa loves an individual! Not to mention you both have some of the best banter! You love to tell him he’s good at holding his hard liquor, “for a rich man.” It’s a nice change of pace for his company! 

Papa III: The two of you could not look ANYMORE different! A pretty rich boy and a punky fist fighter? No one would think you were even FRIENDS let alone a couple! But you two work so well together! You are more fun than most of the people in the clergy! Papa has an insatiable wonder lust for travel and finding new places, and you are happy to indulge. He’s had the best time of his life going with you to the sketchiest bars and weirdest food places. His favorite date was when you took him out for craft beers and he watched you beat the shit of a guy who wouldn’t stop trying to bother you. Papa also loves when you play tease each other for fashion choices, but he wouldn’t have you any other way! Always asks when you’re going to put a Ghost patch on your vest!    

Papa IV/Cardinal Copia: Honestly? You tend to scare the shit out of him. He’s met very few people like you. You’re probably one of the few people who have ever threatened to kick his and his guitarist’s ass. Actually, that’s how you two met! You almost got into it with the ghoul and you both had to be separated. Copia was quite taken aback by your blunt manner. But he’d being lying if he said he didn’t admire your punk aesthetic and independent attitude! You almost can’t but laugh every time he refers to your vest as crust pants as, ‘quite cool!’ Even when he is Papa he doesn’t mind you being the one to stand up for him when other ministry members are pestering him. You and Copia are the quintessential couple where YOU’RE the one who goes up to the fast food counter because Copia asked for no pickles, and he’s too anxious to do it.

The Papas as Fathers (Gender Neutral Child)

Papa Nihil:

~For a new child there is definitely favoritism. His other three didn’t work out the way he planned, so this is a chance to start again! Now that he’s also not out partying or being Papa he has the time to spend with his new heir. 

~A lot of time spent with his youngest is watching horror, old movies, and game shows. It becomes one of his favorite ways of bonding with his child! They grow up knowing every line to the Omen since they were five- oops. 

~He’s not as spry as he used to be, so his youngest has their own group of ghouls to watch over them. Nihil doesn’t trust Papa IV and he definitely doesn’t trust his own physical abilities to protect them. The ghouls give him a piece of mind.

~Unlike the rest, he DOES expect his youngest to retake the Emeritus title and Clergy. How they do that is up to them! As long as he thinks they are working to fulfil their destiny as His Chosen and restore the throne to the proper bloodline! 

Papa I:

~Will heavily train his child to be an heir to the Emeritus line. Whether they decide to be Papa/Mama, Imperator, or just a part of the ministry is up to them. But he DOES put emphasis on encouraging them to take over for the family line. 

~Surprisingly soft when they are small. He is a scary man, but children need a gentle hand when they are young. So when he is a given a toy phone or asked to read a book, you better believe he does both! 

~Prefers to teach them Witchcraft and the dark arts himself. Normally he invests in good tutors and mentors, but magic is something best left to those of the bloodline. Normal humans could never comprehend the capabilities of the chosen blooded. 

~ Thanked Lucifer the moment he found out he was going to be a father. His child is an unblessing he thought he would never be graced with. 

Papa II:

~Papa is very caring and loving towards his child, but is more open to show it when they are small. Granted, he has never been very emotional but he recognizes that his child is a tiny human who needs patience and love. When they get older he is more stoic, but he never stops caring.

~He is definitely the dad that shows love through support and providing than emotions or hugs. Like he won’t kiss boo-boos better, but he would never let his child go hungry or feel like a burden. His love is by providing them with necessities and having his door open if they ever need someone to speak to. Guidance and advice is what he’s here for. 

~Very no nonsense. Doesn’t care if they party or do dumb things, people do that. But Papa does NOT tolerate horrible behavior. Papa does not want his child to ever slack, be ignorant, or do terrible things with no consequence. And trust me, he is not afraid to deal out punishments to fit the crime. 

~Will laugh if his small child sasses his younger brother, Seestor, of his father. Makes him smile every time! 

Papa III:

~ Honestly, no one expected him to take to father hood so easily. Mainly because the history of the Emeritus family and his life style. But Papa LOVES his child and will everything for them! Whatever they want, they will get and MORE!

~Like his big brother, his goal is just to not be like his father. He wants any child he makes to feel loved and accepted no matter what. Papa knows he will never be a perfect dad, but he’s going to try his best!!

~Learned the hard way not to carry infants or toddlers while wearing designer clothes. They will get messy. Actually, he is never fully able to change diapers or clean up sickness. He has nannies and staff for that. 

~He is the happiest if his child grows up and WANTS to leave the Clergy. Papa loves his him and his mission by Lucifer, but he wants his child to know the freedom he never had. Would fully pay any tuition, rent, or expenses if that meant they could live their lives the way THEY wanted. 

Papa IV: 

~Swings wildly between firm mentor figure and embarrassingly proud dad. Yes, Copia wants his child to have a good work ethic and the best education the Clergy can by... but he’s so damn proud. 

~Absolutely %100 carries around baby pictures where ever he goes. Even though he has a ton of pictures on his phone, he also has one of those extra long accordion photo albums in his wallet.  

~No accomplishment is too small, and all will be praised by him. Alternatively, failure happens and he is good at pointing out that failure HAPPENS but it does not make his child any less. Copia likes to use losing or failing as a teaching moment to make his heir stronger. 

~Copia is mushy and sentimental, but he does NOT tolerate his children not trying. He doesn’t care if they want to be the next Papa/Mama or just go work at McDonalds forever, he just wants them to TRY. There is absolutely no slacking allowed. Breaks, yes. Doing nothing? Never.

Fallen Angels in the Clergy

They definitely could, and it has happened before! But they tend to not last long in recent times. Not from the lack of Ministry protection, but because of unknown means from their former Holy Brethren. Fallen angels rarely tend to get far once they abandon their home. 

It’s often asked that when a Fallen joins the rank of the ministry it is to be kept quiet for a time. This is for several reasons. One, the Fallen has to prove they are actually dedicated and can withstand the rigors of their new faith. Two, the presence of the Fallen can often be upsetting to the congregation. Finally, and most importantly, the presence of a Fallen can cause serious uproar from the ghoul population. 

Fallen or not, ghouls have had a millennia of strong conflict with angels. Entire Ghoul populations have been wiped out from existence because of wars with Heaven. It’s unlikely that all ghouls will be excepting of the new recruit. 

Truthfully, Fallen live very lonely lives in the Ministry because of all of these factors. Constantly being doubted for their new faith, and being in limbo of not being wanted or fully trusted by either side. 

As for the Papas, they each have their own way of seeing it. 

Papa Nihil: It has not happened in his life time until the angel showed up. But he has heard of such things from his father’s father’s father’s papacy. Fallen have made extremely good allies. Most of the time, the Fallen does not stay on Earth long after their initial indoctrination. The Fallen typically convert into demonhood and descend into Hell. Nihil prefers this if the Fallen has proven themselves. Fallen angels that have become demons usually favor their ministry and gift them unblessings and protection. 

Papa I: The hardest one to convince, if we are being honest. But with good reason! Angels have done underhanded things to their ministry before, and it won’t be the last time. He has an entire congregation to worry about, and he’s not letting it be taken. But if a new Fallen is serious about their dedication to Lucifer they are going to have to go over the top in their conversion. Otherwise, he will not trust them to the point of violently lashing out if they even have a hint of betrayal. 

Papa II: Is very cautious in the beginning. You always have to be weary and not blindly accept everything at face value. But Papa takes great pride and enjoyment at seeing angels abandon their shackles to the false Holy Being. Knowing Lucifer and His true power helps all fills his soul with delight. As demonblooded himself, he is more equipped to indoctrinate the Fallen more than the average ministry member. IS happy to help them reach true demonhood. 

Papa III: The most readily accepting of the Fallen wanting to abandon their “holy” roots. Granted, this is not blindly, but he is eager to assist. Papa firmly believes everyone, even Angels, should have the opportunity to embrace Lucifer into their hearts. He’s happy to make accommodations for the Fallen, so that the congregation and ministry are not TOO upset at the new addition. Papa is most likely to help the Fallen learn glamour and to hide their auras so that they might get along better with the ghouls. 

Papa IV/Cardinal Copia: Whole heartedly would love nothing more than a Fallen in his ranks. But Copia is not like the Emeritus bloodline, where he does NOT have their demonic blood. He himself has just ascended into Papacy and is learning all of the secrets that comes with it. There is a huge catch twenty-two with accepting a Fallen into the Ministry. One, he doesn’t have AS MUCH power should the Fallen go rogue and betray him. BUT- should the Fallen become a demon that is a powerful patron to his new reign as Papa! Copia cautiously welcomes them but keeps a close eye on the Fallen.

Papa III, Papa IV, and Aether Having a Mario Kart night with their S/O!

Aether: While Aether doesn’t dislike video games, he’s never been into them as much as his band mates. But he LOVES getting to play with you! Mario Kart and other fun games are a lot easier for him than something FPS. He always picks Ludwig because he has crazy hair! His second is Yoshi. He’s not a world champion player, but with all the practice with you he’s gotten pretty good! You both are always having a good race and are never sure who’s gonna come out on top! Aether loves victory kisses and all the snacks you both make for the day. He just loves having something at home and cozy to do with you! You always catch him admiring your face whenever you win and cheer. 

Papa III: Is actually a lot better at video games than you anticipated! Even when he’s wine drunk and slurring his words he SOMEHOW manages to finish decently in the game! He always winks and goes, “Do you think we didn’t play this all the time when we were on tour?” Papa also admits he likes playing with you a lot more than his ghouls. Not just because he loves you but because the ghouls tended to get VERY competitive. I hope you don’t main Peach, because he is ALWAYS Peach. You always joke he should be Mario but Papa always laughs. “I can do a better Mario than this!” Anytime he plays Mario he recreates all the lines with the ‘proper’ accent. Papa will play until the wine just makes him want to cuddle and watch you beat online players until he passes out. 

Papa IV/Copia: He is so delightfulyl surprised when you want to make a game night with him! But he’s so confused when you bring out a switch and not an N64 or super nintendo! Truthfully, he’s not modern game savvy. Your first Mario Kart night was actually scouring the nearest city trying to find a working N64 for you to play! You come to find out that Copia is an absolute BEAST at the original Mario Kart. Long before he was Cardinal his abbey had a Nintendo, and it was one of the most popular ways to past time. Copia used to fit in by destroying everyone at the game. He always plays Luigi. Insists Luigi is the unsung hero of the series. Mind you, he MIGHT get a little competitive if you are also great at the game! There have been multiple times you both were standing up, intensely hunched over to see who would win first! 

Papas and their personally summoned Ghoul! 

Papa Nihil: The first ghoul Nihil ever summoned was one that not many people would know, as he was never in the Ghost project! His ghoul was a fire ghoul from a tribe in Hell known for particularly skilled metalsmithing. This was before it was popular to openly refer to ghouls by nick names. But Nihil always affectionately called him ‘Oro’- as the ghoul often made many of Nihil’s fine possessions. Nihil has a nostalgic fondness for Oro, but Oro mostly views Nihil as an old charge he’s obligated to protect. 

Papa I: The first ghoul Papa ever summoned was immediately after his graduation from Seminary. At eighteen he summoned a powerful wind ghoulette- who we know and love as Cumulus! Considering how young that is for his magic AND how he would eventually go on to be one of the youngest Papa’s the clergy has seen, everyone was very impressed! Papa and Cumulus have a very courteous and polite relationship. There is a level of caring but nothing forced. Papa made it very clear he would not force his ghoulette to be personally involved with him if she did not wish- summoner or not. Papa was the one who recommended Cumulus be promoted to band ghoul. 

Papa II: Believe it or not, Papa is responsible for summoning Mountain! Which is actually an impressive feat, considering Mountain is from a hardier and stronger stone tribe in Hell. Even though Mountain is considered young for a ghoul he was a much needed and welcome addition to the clergy. They don’t really have a relationship outside of standard business. Mountain was summoned out of necessity and Papa using his skill to graduate into higher ranks. Papa had no personal need for a ghoul, finding better company in older ghouls already trained by the Clergy. So he was happy to lend Mountain out where the ghoul was needed. Mountain is indifferent but very polite and respects Papa. 

Papa III: Many are always impressed that Papa was the one to summon our beloved Ifrit! Like his brothers, Papa summoned his ghoul out of seminary! Many are usually shocked to find out Ifrit has only been on Earth for a couple of decades. But he and Papa are incredibly close. Papa has often been criticized by members of the ministry for being too ‘buddy buddy’ with his ghoul. But he couldn’t care less! Ifrit has always been a loyal and fun companion, and the two caused so much trouble together on tour! They act more like friends than a proper ghoul/master relationship. 

Papa IV/Cardinal Copia: Copia has actually HELPED summon a few ghouls with other members of the ministry, he just has not summoned one by himself yet! He doesn’t remember EVERY ghoul he has helped summoned, as they get whisked away by the Ministry. Now that he is Papa he is expected to summon a new ghoul at some point to show he is worthy. He is a mixture of nervous and excited to see who he can pull!

 The Papas when their S/O has Food Poisoning 

Papa Nihil: It was just a day where you thought you could handle suspect looking left overs. Sure the food had been in the fridge for a couple of days, but no one just leaves bad food in the fridge right? Plus you were hungry! However, a few hours later, you were faced with the consequences of your decision. Luckily Nihil just chuckles and sits with you as you cling to the toilet. If it wasn’t for the fact that you were sure you were going to die from food poisoning you might have appreciated that he didn’t flinch from the scene. Nihil might even try to comfort you by telling you all the times HE’S had horrible food poisoning! He does what he can to make your life easier during the worst of it. Whether that’s holding your glasses/long hair out of your face (should you have them) or having a ghoul get a pillow for you to sit on. Nihil is happy to help tuck you into bed and give you water through a straw until you start to feel better. 

Papa I: You weren’t sure HOW you got food poisoning- it could have been from the rare trip you took out to the city to grab food with your clergy friends. Papa had been worried when you mentioned your stomach felt off the night before. Initially, you shrugged it off as not being used to city good. Since you woke up all you knew is that you were in ABSOLUTE misery. You had called out of your duties to writhe in bed. When you didn’t come out the rest of the day Papa finally came to visit you toting a steaming mug. The smell of it made your already sensitive stomach want to hurl again. Despite gagging at the hot mug Papa firmly made you take it and down it. It tasted like mint and herbs and weird spices you couldn’t figure out. When you managed to get it all down you eventually felt a bit better. It took less than a hour before you were out of pain and discomfort. Papa nearly smiled and told you it was an old remedy he had written down years ago. 

Papa II: You two often dine at fine places together, but you wanted to try something new! You found a fancy looking seafood restaurant you wanted to try, so Papa happily made reservations. Unfortunately, as tasty as the shell fish was, you happened to get a bad batch. The moment you left the restaurant you knew something wasn’t right. You had horrible pains in your stomach on the ride home, and by the time you managed to get into your pajamas you were hunched over the toilet. One of your ghouls was there to rub your back and eventually get you into bed. Papa would have... but your man was too busy calling the restaurant and bitching out the managers and owner. You were sure if you weren’t in total misery you’d have found the way he yelled into the phone hilarious- especially with a vein popping on his head. While you hated seeing him yell, you felt better knowing Papa had your back. He himself stayed close to your side to make sure you were doing better and vowed to have that whole building demolished... a bit over board, but appreciated! 

Papa III: Papa can’t do anything to help you because HE TOO has the same food poisoning! Later, when you feel better, he apologizes to you. Papa had taken you out to the city to have, what he calls, a ‘culinary adventure!’ There were a few dives and niche places for food he wanted to try. You both weren’t sure WHICH of these places did it, but you knew it had to be one of the sketchy food trucks you begged him to stay away from. You both spent at least two days in bed. Both of you sweaty, crampy, sick messes. The two of you alternated between curling up under the expensive silk sheets while the other wreaked havoc on his expensive bathroom. Eventually, Sister Imperator sent Omega to help heal you- without him you both might have been bed ridden for the rest of the week! After you two sat up, clutching glasses of water, you scolded Papa that you were never going out to eat with him again! A total lie, but he thought it was funny regardless! 

Papa IV/Cardinal Copia: Copia had warned you many times to be careful when Ghouls offered you food. Not that any ghouls would purposely poison you, but ghoulish stomach constitution is VASTLY different than human! You had mistakenly thought that ghouls maybe just added extra spice or ingredients from Hell. After all, you’ve seen fire ghouls pile on tons of hot sauce and spices trying to make food extra hot! So you didn’t feel it was necessary to say no when the band ghouls let you have some of their food... big mistake. You just learned the hard way that ghouls don’t cook their meat as well as they should. Que you stuck between your bed and the bathroom floor wishing someone would put you out of your misery. Copia does his best to nurse you through the worst of it. Making sure you have tons of water and something for the pain. He knows it’ll just be a matter of trooping through it, but he does ask Papa I for any types of remedies if he can!

It’s always fun getting to talk about other supernatural beings! Happy to oblige! 

Werewolves in the Clergy

~For centuries the clergy has been a safe haven for many different creatures. Especially in the dark ages when those who weren’t human were mercilessly hunted down by scared peasants. The Ministry has always stood by its policy to adopt and shelter those who were rejected by society and outcasted. 

~Back then Werewolves were more common in the Ministry than they are in modern times. Granted, that’s not a HUGE number- but it was enough. Lycan and Werewolves alike did not have as many ways to hide or places to seek shelter. The Clergy was one of the few places they could be accepted without persecution. 

~That doesn’t mean this is without conditions or precautions. Werewolves, like Ghouls, have a tendency to be territorial. So there have been many instances were a werewolf had to leave from not meshing with Clergy ghouls. the ghouls are always more valuable to a single abbey, so it’s never a contest of who has to leave and seek another place to live. 

~So long as a werewolf or pack can co-exist with ghouls there is little to no problem. They are just expected to keep their true nature to Church grounds ONLY. The Ministry prefers outsiders to not be exposed to whatever creature they choose to house! 

~When it comes to transforming, you would very much be interrogated by the Ministry. This is more so for the safety of everyone around you. It needs to be known by the higher up’s WHEN you transform, HOW OFTEN, and if they need to implement any type of security. At the end of the day they can’t compromise the rest of the population. 

~The Ministry will definitely make sure you can’t pass on your condition, like a vampire might. That’s too much trouble for them to consider! 

~Chances are you might be offered a place in the dungeons to be guarded every Full Moon. The same way they lock ghouls going into territorial fits or rut. That way you aren’t a danger to yourself and others. 

~they also ask you try to keep it on the down low from other siblings... Monsters tend to be popular and they really don’t want siblings being either afraid or swarming you with unwanted attention. Both are likely to happen!

Papa Emeritus IV reacting to his S/O being pregnant

~ Even before he was Papa, Copia deep down always wanted a family. Work and his ambitions also took his priority, so he never allowed himself to dwell on it too much. He knew one day, when he became Papa, he would be given a prime mover at the very least and his bloodline would continue. 

~The fact that it is YOU, his beloved partner, that turns out to be pregnant with his first heir is a joy he could never put into words. 

~Don’t be surprised when he falls to his knees and praises Lucifer right then and there, holding you close and putting his ear to your stomach. Copia will kiss it and hold you protectively, diligent of the life you now carry! 

~He’s normally a very private man but this is one of the rare occasions he will announce his life to everyone. Throws a huge celebration for the fact that you are pregnant and that his bloodline is OFFICIALLY starting. Even Imperator wants to help plan the event, as it’s a crucial moment in their new era! Later he will laugh and apologize that he jumped the gun, he’s just so excited!! 

Ghoul anatomy is a favorite! <3  Threw in some extra ghouls too! :)

Era 3 + 4 Ghoul Tails! 

Omega: A thick, darker skinned tail with a spade that has a V like barb shape on the bottom. Not terribly pointed but enough to have a distinct silhouette!  It’s actually very soft to touch but very strong. 

Alpha: Common for many fire ghouls, a shorter tail that’s about a little more half his height. The spade is asymmetrical and has one barb that is hook like on the top that’s quite sharp on the edge. Only slightly thicker where it connects to his lower back. 

Air: Long and incredibly prehensile, more than the average ghoul! Constantly able to coil like a snack and even trip people if he so wished. The end of the tail is barbed and wicked, with a few small spikes lining just under the tip. 

Water: A more oceanic ghoul tail, as it’s thicker than a standard tail. It does taper off at the tip, that has a spade like a smaller shark tail fin. Has two extra fins at the base of his tail. The bottom of his tail is slightly paler than the rest of it. 

Earth: It’s shorter than an average ghoul tail length, but it’s proportionate it to his height. As a plains earth ghoul he has a bit of fur and fluff on the end of his tail, right under the spade! His tail is thicker with a flatter spade at the tip. 

Special: An almost serpent like tail that is pitch black, standing out against the grey of his flesh. It tends to curl like a cartoon and never stops moving. The spade at the end is almost comically cartoon shaped, but thin like the head of an old ink pen. 

Cowbell: Unfortunately, does not has a cow like tail! Much to the disappoint of everyone who knows his nick name! The spade of his tail looks like an actual spade in a deck of cards, rounded on the sides and is sat on the end of a longer tail. It’s very average size, think of the girth of circumference of about three fingers. 

Mist: Another oceanic ghoul like tail, but thinner than Water’s. Dark scales line where it connects to her lower back and on the small fin like spade at the end. The bottom is the same grey as her skin, but darker on top and spotted around where her scales end. 

Ember: Short like a typical fire ghoul, but looks smaller due to being proportion to his height. Very dark at the spade but fades to his normal grey skin color at the base. Double hooked at the spade and actually very sharp. Tends to wag when he’s excited or up to mischief.  

Aether: Shorter but super thick. Still manages to be pretty flexible, especially at the bottom of the spade. The same color as his skin but at the very tip of his spade it has a dark blush. His spade has soft sides and is very silky to touch! 

Mountain: Very long and thick, but consistent size through out the entire length. Hurts if it accidentally ever hits you. The spade is slightly bigger than average but doesn’t have pointed sides- it has more of a smooth shape. His tail is darker than the rest of his skin. 

Cumulus: Very long tail, longer than her height! Half way up her tail it starts to gradient into a black tip. Asymmetrical spade that’s bigger on the top, but both ends are rounded. Like Air’s tends to curl back towards her body into a loose spiral. 

Cirrus: Also long but almost completely black until it hits her lower back. Has a barbed, sharp spade and a couple of spikes under it. Tends to lay straight and doesn’t move as much, so it can be hard to tell her mood based on it. 

Rain: Very long tail with a fin like spade at the bottom- the tail is almost as long as he is. It has a line of scales on the top of it the same light blue color as the scales under his ears/gills. The base of his tail is thicker where it connects to his lower back and gets thinner as it goes to the tip.  

Swiss: Actually long for a fire ghoul, thanks to his mixed elemental genes. Has a soft hooked spade like Alpha’s, but the edges are softer and not as pronounced. Extra prehensile and he often like to holds things with it. His favorite party trick is using his tail to open bottles.  

Just throwing a minor trigger warning for vague talks of body horror and injuries. 

I definitely think yes and no! 

Ghouls come from Hell so there are plenty of things that they see that could be described as way worse. Also, ghoul brains do not think the same way we do, so we could be considered ‘sensitive’ compared to them. 

I think they would be more affected by body horror either on a fellow ghoul OR a human they feel closely attached to. Anything that causes something unnatural and painful to happen to a member of their pack would be upsetting. 

Seeing a human do unnatural activities or taking strange forms DOES bother them, but not exactly the same reason it would bother us. We would more so have a confused or fear response because of our psychology. But a ghoul would more so be on edge because the behavior suggests a predatory being in the guise of a human. A ghoul would more so perceive a threat and be willing to fight while we would be more likely to get scared and run!

Papas with their S/O Cuddling and Singing Them to Sleep

Papa Nihil: Number one way to have the Grandpapa fall asleep on you in under five seconds. Nihil is Big Tired (TM) most days, and finds so much relief in the tender affection you give him. Nihil finds your voice cute and comforting- something he needs after a long day of dealing with Ministry chaos and bullshit. At the end of the day all he wants to do is sleep and stretch out on his grand bed, you at his side. Nihil chuckled the first time you sung to him. Not making fun of your attempts or your voice, just pleasantly surprised! He compliments your voice but can barely keep his eye lids open. A part of you knew you should have expected as much, but you were still confused when he started snoring. 

Papa I: Admittedly, Papa is very taken aback that you would want to do this for him. To most he is, rightfully, viewed as a frightening specter of the clergy. Someone to be feared and respected, not snuggled and lulled to sleep like a babe! This isn’t a bad thing, mind you, just a situation he finds completely ironic. Papa was never much of a cuddler, simply from a lack of experience and proper gentle partners. Most of his harem and past affairs were looking for something rougher and impersonal. But Papa finds himself enjoying the close contact very much. Especially relaxed if you gently stroke around his ears and shoulders. As for singing, he would make a request or two of you. Papa will often ask for songs that helped him sleep as a boy. He has trained himself to need less sleep but there is something enjoyable indulging in sloth once in a while. His words exactly.  

Papa II: Is more confused by the singing than the cuddling, as he normally is expected to sing softly to some of his more long term partners. But the roles being switched are a welcome break. If you were anyone else, Papa might be uncomfortable with you taking care of him like this. It’s not often he allows his guard down to be pampered in any soft way. But because it is you he happily makes an exception, as you are one of the few people he trusts. Papa will insist on still being the bigger spoon and have you close to his chest, tucked under his chin. He finds your voice pleasant and your gentle caresses on his arms and back soothing. Chances are you’ll probably fall asleep way before him, as you always do. But the gentle bonding is a nice switch from the harder physical intimacy of your normal days. 

Papa III: Cuddle and serenade Papa at your own risk. Because once you start you will never be allowed to stop! It will suddenly become one of your regular couple routines, as the man is SPOILED and snuggly beyond belief. Sure, carnal desires are very fun and his preference- but nothing gets Papa to purr faster than a nice cuddle session! His favorite is to be curled on your lap or chest, eyes closed as you play with his hair and sing softly to him. Your voice is very soothing and comforting. Papa can sometimes have difficulty getting calm and relaxed enough to sleep, so this always helps! If you try to stop petting his hair he will either nudge you to keep going or pick your hand up and place it back on his head. Absolutely spoiled beyond belief. Papa sometimes gets cheeky with you and asks if you take requests! Offers to teach you a lullaby in Italian. 

Papa IV/Cardinal Copia: Tries to act dignified and pleasantly surprised at the offer but, let’s be real, on the inside this is what he loves the most. Despite his ambitions to be a scary and all powerful Papa he is still a man who craves gentle affection. The fact you want to soothe HIM makes him melt at the very idea. Once you start expect it to become a regular request from your achy and tired Copia. Most nights all you have to do is pet the spot on the bed next to you and Copia comes flying onto the mattress! When you start singing to him he ends up joining you. Copia just can’t help himself, he loves to sing with you! Both of you end up getting each other to nod off by duetting a favorite lullaby you share. Your words eventually slurring until your a tangle of arms and blankets and fast asleep!
