i hate these kinds of tweets and everyone who enables their rhetoric bc 1. the amount of pal/arab-americans who voted trump were prob too small to even impact the election 2. they always come at palestinians with a condescending tone like you think we wouldn’t know how bad trump would be?? we’ve been down this road before, every us admin has been bad for palestine but in different ways! “trump will be worse” does not absolve biden admin of their current role in what’s been happening in palestine

Also considering bill Clinton led the "peace talks" and he went mask off the other day talking about how much israelis deserve to kill Palestinians, it actually is not unique to huckabee to say this. I hate how people who have not been involved in Palestine advocacy until last year are trying to tell us "actually the dems are super nice in comparison to trump so suck it up" as if the years worth of bombing campaigns, forced displacements, and outright lynchings haven't been a bipartisan effort.

all of this

In the least dramatic way possible being Arab right now is a very isolating experience (and I think in the context of being Iraqi in the US it always was but this is a whole new level) and that’s something I’m grieving but also coming to accept bc also in the least dramatic way possible everyone is sick of you centering the fact that Arab people are being genocided and you are more susceptible to losing friendships over it than ever

Argued w a friend yesterday about this bc she was flabbergasted that I did not bat for Harris at all and she was like “I know u care for ur people but what about the people here in the us” and that’s when I knew the whole friendship just fractured beyond repair tbh like even if I somehow try to force myself to look past this viewpoint I just know it’ll never be the same. So that sucks because most people hold this view right now and I don’t think it’s getting better

Like I just think it’s so over as far as solidarity goes tbh maybe Tumblr paints a different depiction of it bc everyone’s in their own bubble but in the real world no one gives a fuck & it has truly driven me to choose isolation over ever talking about this w anyone ever

I know my words probably don’t mean much, but I feel for you. And in some ways, I understand. I won’t pretend to know fully, but I am sending you my sincere support as an Indigenous person who was also against Harris for the exact same reasons. It fucking sucks.

"It took me TWO years to finish this sketch book!" Well that's cuz you're not fuckin sketching. Those are fully painted pieces dawg that's a renderedbook. I've gone through four sketchbooks in my off time this year alone I just draw stupid faces and shit for fun. pussy up like the rest of us and start drawing stick figures with guns

I can't express how damaging this has been to young artists.

Of the many things I struggled to explain to my students "Your sketch book is mainly for practicing techniques, practicing new things, NOTES, and dumb doodles that come to your mind that can inspire you later or help lead you to a good idea. It is NOT where you draw you final pieces. Please kill that darling," is pretty high on the list.

I legit started calling it a "first draft" book to activate prior knowledge from English because influences have destroyed the concept of sketchbooks.

And you can have multiple sketchbooks that serve different functions. They're tools. I have a mixed media fully-rendered bullshit sketchbook made of scraps, I have a normie store bought book for doodles and warm ups and thumbnails, and I have a small travel sketchbook. And they (except for the first one) get finished whenever they get finished -- finishing a sketchbook is not a goal, it's a consequence of sketching.

I am Reem, a Palestinian from Gaza ،I am 50 years old, my husband passed away since I was not 23 years old at that time, leaving me with three children, the oldest of whom is Diana 5 years old, Issam 4 years old, and my youngest son Abdullah 10 months old, so I decided not to marry again and to devote my life to them, so I completed my education and worked as a teacher in a government school.

and raised my children until they grew up and got married and we remained until this moment in one house, supporting each other through the days in a family atmosphere and a house full of warmth and reassurance.

Until the war came and made us lose our home and the security we lived in,

as we were deported from the north of the Gaza Strip to the south, where there was no shelter except a dilapidated tent,

This is my daily struggle to light a fire and use it to prepare bread and cook food with the firewood and paper available to us in the absence of electricity and cooking gas

and I remained playing the role of father and mother until this moment and supporting my children and their children, as I also have three grandchildren.

But I regret to say that after more than a year of the ongoing war, I lost all the money I had saved and now we are in dire need of help in order to complete and provide the necessities of life, which have become competitive with the prices of gold here in the south of Gaza. We are suffering from a shortage of all the necessary necessities as there is no access to healthy food, clean water, shelter and medicine.

Every penny counts. Your support will make a huge difference in saving lives. I believe in the free world and your kind hearts.🌹♥️🌹

"it's pointless to argue who's more harmed by US imperialism between US veterans and the people they're bombing" actually it's the people they're bombing who are harmed more. end of conversation

it's frustrating because you can't say "victims of US imperialism" because some fucking idiot will come along and go "um actually veterans are victims of US imperialism too" and then it's right back in the fucking argumentative grasp of Yankee chauvinists

"who has been harmed more, the person with the hammer or the person beaten with it?"

Liberals will fr say some shit like “if you don’t vote because you won’t endorse someone complicit in genocide you deserve to be the first person sent to the republican nazi death camps I just made up in my head” and think it’s normal

the way liberal zionists act so smug and condescending about pro-palestine protests really pisses me off. like i really hate the insinuation firstly that these rallies are organised by foreign left agents who have no stake in this at all, as if these rallies aren’t organised and lead by Palestinians first and foremost! i understand not liking certain slogans and chants for whatever reason but like they can fuck right off with the “israeli protest is the right valid way of protest” like if these people actually engaged with the pro-palestine movement rather than just observing from the outside, they will see that palestine protests are first and foremost solidarity protests so of course they’re gonna be mostly one sided. but more importantly they’re very diverse from attendees to speakers, people from all walks of life, all cultures and backgrounds, all ages attend. also like stop putting our protests within the context of this war, of course israeli demands are more focused on the current moment, but our protests are just a series of protests in a wider context because they do obviously call for a ceasefire for the current moment but they have a much bigger focus which is to stop western support for israel and end the occupation. you really cannot compare israeli protests in tel aviv to pro-palestine protests at large.

Dem collapse among Arab voters is precisely what the party has incessantly made clear it deserves this year

So they voted for Trump instead?

Some did, but more commonly they simply didn’t vote or voted for an anti-genocide protest candidate such as Jill Stein or Cornel West

Well, that worked out great.

Yeah sorry I’m not gonna let you scold and shame people who were repeatedly told directly by the Democratic Party that they were dirt under their heel all year and that their support was not being sought. As I said, you reap what you sow. The Democratic Party is not entitled to votes.

The way that dems insulted Arabs at literally every opportunity they could get and yet we are still being blamed for the decisions THEY made to alienate us like sorry if bill Clinton didn't endear us with his "you ayrabs need to stop whining and let us kill you already" speech right before the election.

The fucking ENTITLEMENT democrats have is fucking insane. Like genuinely go fuck yourselves if you behave like this towards Arabs

PUNK PSA:

Please don’t put anything too political on your back patches— especially about your own marginalized experiences.

This has been a long standing rule in punk communities, passed down for generations. People do get jumped and experience violence as a result of this. You can’t see who is behind you, you can’t tell if they’re far right, and you can’t prepare yourself for sudden violence from behind.

So many people are new to the scene, introduced via social media, and don’t know the weight of walking with something on your back (literally and metaphorically) that immediately outs you as marginalized. If you’re able to defend yourself, or out with friends who can watch your back, by all means go for it and wear whatever you want on your back patches but if you walk alone at all ever, please be safe.

Also this is why punks wear spikes and studs on our shoulders especially. Makes it harder for someone to grab you and works as self defense (but also never wear spikes at a small show or if you plan to mosh— people can get hurt!).

Never put a target on your back. Put a target on your front so you can punch first.
