× I'm a Christian Anarchist, aspiring author and alternative rocker who advocates for the love and respect of all people.

× Jesus is sick as hell, love that guy.

× I listen to at least one band from every alternative subculture and my favorite genre is folk punk.

× I'll destroy any box you put me in, so don't even try it. Labels betray, constrict, confine and change you- if you let them. Break free.

× You love some good rawk and are a respectful person? We'll get along just fine!

× I show my art occasionally, but I mostly post or reblog about:

Alternative culture and music, anarchism, anime, Jesus Christ, fashion, DIYS, body positivity, mental health awareness, bpd awareness... plus some random AK Rants.

what is alt style?

Avatar

Excellent question! The short answer is that "alt style" or "alternative fashion" is any style that deviates from the societal norm. Now the longer answer is that, typically, these alternative styles are heavily associated with music genres and/or ideologies. Its a way of letting your values dictate more areas of your life and letting others know your values so that you can form a community with them. For example, some of the most well-known alternative fashion subgenres are punk, goth, emo, scene, and grunge. All of these are huge communities that are heavily connected to their respected music genres as well as some fundamental values that the community holds in common. For example I usually say I'm in the grunge/punk camp because I like the music and I also support things like breaking down rigid gender stereotypes, anti-consumerism, anti-authoritarianism, some tenets of feminism, ignoring arbitrary beauty standards, etc. And as such, my style reflects the alternativeness of the values I hold. Black clothing, big boots, baggy pants, and flannel jackets, are all staples of my style that can act as a form of "rebellion" against the establish, or more accepted, way of dressing myself. Personally, its nothing too dramatic, but its just enough to prove that I can look nice while also not participating in things like "traditional femininity" or corporatism.

Thanks for the ask, I hope that explained it!!!

"One of the marks of a certain type of bad man is that he cannot give up a thing himself without wanting everyone else to give it up. That is not the Christian way. An individual Christian may see fit to give up all sorts of things for special reasons- marriage, or meat, or beer, or the cinema; but the moment he starts saying the things are bad in themselves, or looking down his nose at other people who do use them, he has taken the wrong turning."

Who's excited to hear the sounds of Trump supporters worshiping their "god" in the distance for the next four years? While simultaneously claiming to be Christians who have committed their lives to following the ten commandments; one of which reads "Have No Other Gods Before Me."

Jesus, come quickly.

I'm sick of this shit show.

However, that being said, I am getting a fucking KICK out of all my irl friends, acquaintances and relatives on Facebook not-so-vague posting their opinions about the damn thing.

Like we get it Stephanie, you're a democrat, calm down, it's not like anything's gonna change anyway 🤣🤣🤣

Just a reminder that Vincent van Gogh did not eat yellow paint to make himself feel happy, he ate paint, and drank different chemicals because he was suicidal and this is why he was not allowed in his studio while having breakdowns. He also did not paint starry night and his other great works because he was depressed, he painted most of them while he was in recovery and demonstrated his hopefulness and love of the world through this. Most of his great works were painted from his room at a hospital. Van Gogh’s depression should not be glorified. His hope and effort toward a better life, as well as his recovery from depression should be glorified.

Does anyone else feel like the general attitude towards cross dressing is so misogynistic? Because to me it feels like women presenting masculinely are treated as if they're empowering themselves; some people are threatened by it and some are attracted to it. Whereas when a man presents femininely, he is almost always treated as if he's degrading himself for the benefit of others' sexual interests. Which falls right in line with how women have been treated for decades, doesn't it? If a woman wears makeup and gets dolled up, it's ALWAYS assumed that she's doing it for men, and no matter WHAT she does, she WILL be degraded for it. Whereas if a man puts on some ruddy cologne and slides into a clean suit, he is treated as the most powerful person in the room. Why is it that women are only seen as independent and powerful and dominant when they're imitating a traditional man? Why is it that men are seen as slutty, attention seeking and incompetent when imitating a traditional woman? Does anyone else see how absolutely fucked up that is?

I hate all of these useless words like "feminine" and masculine" that don't mean anything of substance. I want to live in a world where we shed adjectives that push people in gender-based boxes and we all embrace our most authentic selves; the way God created us to be.
