“It was difficult to appreciate the lush landscape when every bend they turned held fresh battles, but that did not stop Lissa from taking note in the intermittent reprieves. Tall trees, thick with age, were covered in crawling, heavy vines that flowered where they caught the dappled sunlight. The smell of earth was heavy, the scent of blossoms sweet in the cool, humid air. The rushing of waterfalls was a constant hum beneath the delicate melodies of swaying tree limbs yawning above them, and the song was punctuated by pretty little solos of birds complaining of their homes disturbed. And disturbed it had been. With a cry, Lissa let the full force of lightning course through her arm, directed through her staff until it wracked the approaching Templar to the bones. The hot blue lightning danced over his armor, the force of it cracking the protruding shards of red lyrium. The scent of blood and electricity mingled with the sharp, clean smell of freshly turned earth as their battles carved into the ground.”

For my holiday gifts - a retelling of the Fade kiss for Solas x Trev. Have a wonderful new year, @8eraphim!
He does not expect to see her here.
She moves through the Fade as she does through the waking world—with light steps, her arms pulled tight to her sides, her chin raised. She makes herself small; it is an old habit, he suspects, of living in a mage circle. Small, unassuming, but determined to be unafraid.
When she sees him, she smiles. It is such a disarming expression—so freely joyful—that he finds himself smiling back. “Hello,” he says.
“I’d hoped to speak with you,” she says, still smiling.
a soft song
For @floranna2, a continuation of the first fic I ever wrote for this fandom. Happy holidays! <3
Solas/Trev
She wakes to the sound of his voice. Melodic and low, murmuring so quietly she almost doesn’t catch the words. But then she realizes they are elven, strung together by a soft tune. Singing. He is singing.
The corners of her mouth turn upward and she says, without opening her eyes, “You know, I thought lullabies were supposed to be sung to soothe a child to sleep—not to wake someone up.”

“They are all gone into the world of light! And I alone sit lingering here; Their very memory is fair and bright, And my sad thoughts doth clear. … I see them walking in an air of glory, Whose light doth trample on my days; My days, which are at best but dull and hoary, Mere glimmerings and decays. … Either disperse these mists, which blot and fill My perspective still, as they pass; Or else remove me hence unto that hill Where I shall need no glass.”

His Eyes Say Yes
”Solas opened his eyes, listening for a moment at the sound of birdsong just outside his window. He allowed himself to imagine Evelyn waking up, her hair tousled from sleeping, her breathing just the slightest bit unsteady. Perhaps, she would even trace her lips, and wonder … .
And wonder what, he wondered.”
