Day Four: Heated Kiss - Amelia/Kaynik
“Ugh!” Amelia exclaimed vehemently and leaned closer to the small fan in front of her. “Why is it so freaking hot in here?”
Glancing up from the datapad in his hand, Kaynik paused in answering, an amused trill filling his throat. She had already rolled up her sleeves and tied her sweat-dampened curls up and away from her face, but it had done little to dispel the flush on her cheeks or the sweat beading on her brow. “I had not noticed,” he admitted honestly and set the datapad aside. “However, with the cooling systems down, it will only grow hotter as we grow closer to noon.”
She scoffed. “Gee, thanks, babe.” With a roll of her eyes, she turned away from him, shoulders hunched as she fiddled with the settings on the fan. “Stupid lizard,” she muttered without any real venom.
Kaynik watched her for a moment, fondness and curiosity in his gaze as he traced her frustrated posture. He paused as he came to the rigid line of her shoulders and the strip of pale skin between the collar of her uniform and her hairline; he could see that she was sweating there, too, and he hummed. With a quick glance at the clock—they had time—he shifted in his chair and leaned over her, watching as she glared at the fan. She stiffened as she felt him against her back, but she did nothing more than cast a curious look over her shoulder. He offered her a smile and bent closer, nuzzling her nape.
“Dross,” she said dryly, “I’m sweating to death over here and you think now is a good time to cuddle?”
He kissed her neck and smiled at the involuntary hitch in her breathing. “To be honest, cuddling was not quite what I had in mind,” he murmured, the taste of salt on his tongue.
“Oh?” She shrugged away from his touch before turning in her chair to face him. There was a hint of a challenge in her smile. “And what makes you think I’d even be in the mood for that?”
Chuckling, he leaned forward and pressed a chaste kiss to her lips, watching as she chased after him when he leaned back. “Well, at the very least,” he said before bending to kiss her again, a deep purr filling his throat. “You’ll be wearing fewer clothes.”
Her brows rose and she snickered against his mouth, lifting her arms to circle his neck. “Well shit,” she murmured between more kisses, each more heated than the last. “Count me in.”
