I’m not saying the Stargate movie is bad but it is wild that 17 seasons of tv and several more movies came from it
I always think people overreact when they say the stargate movie is bad. Because it's not as bad as people say. It's from the eearly 90s, the effects were amazing for the time. Yes, the dialogs are rubbish often enough, I give it that. But the story concept is great. The main character is a geeky academic who is simply good a ancient Egyptian. He's not the chosen one or something like that, he's a random dude. The other main character is a cynical airforce Colonel who has more character depth than people give him. He has his reasons and they make sense. The costume designs are amazing, just look at the Goa'uld and Jaffa costumes. Sorry but they didn't care about that in the show. The jaffa guards are often enough just ugly pieces of armor. What I wanna say, the movie isn't bad, it's not a masterpiece but it's not bad. Without we wouldn't have gotten 20 years worth of worldbuilding. Without the movie I wouldn't have met so many amazing people I call my friends now. Without it we wouldn't have formed our cosplay group SGG.
I personally love the movie. I grew up with it and it will always have a very special place in my heart. With all it's rubbish dialoge and pretty cinematography.
