I saw the trailers for season 2 of Prodigal Son and frankly I’m a little nervous that they are going to have Malcolm go dark in his attempt to protect his sister. Like, I am hoping what they are going to do is have Malcolm be tempted by it but in the end, choose to continue to be the better person in his family. To continue to be more like his mother and have a good grasp on humanity and the love for the people around him.

I want to see Ainsley’s descent into darkness. I want to see her come to terms with what she did, accept it, and make that choice to be more like her father. I want to see her become more multi layered where you see her struggle for her love for her family, but in the end she chooses to take the darker path.

I want to see these two siblings against each other in a later season, where the only thread between them is their love for each other. I want to see both of them being swayed because of that love, but in the end, doing what the right thing is to both of them.

I want the end of the show to show Ainsley officially taking Martin’s place as the Surgeon. I want the end of the show to show Malcolm continuing Jessica’s work to help those that can’t help themselves and solving mysteries and bringing people home to their families. I want the very last shot of the show to be Ainsley calmly walking into the same asylum that Martin was held in (Martin would be dead by now in this scenario), and then Malcolm to be walking outside into the sunlight (holding hands with Dani).

Give this to me.

True. I’d be so disappointed if they push him to the darker side-- Malcolm resisted for thirty years! He has a heart of gold and he’s his mother’s son! Endicott pointed it out in the end and I never agreed more. He joined the CIA and the NYPD for god’s sake.

If they make him ‘The Surgeon’s son’ it would be so bad. Like come on, you have one season dedicated to him wanting to not be like his father enough to push himself into finding the girl in the box and it’s just going to end up with him being a lawbreaker (and being an accomplice! Oh no.)

Now, Ainsley though. That would be amazing. That’s the daughter that would [should, in writing] develop the trait. She’s ruthless, cutthroat (ha!) and she would be perfect to have that build up. Yes, I need that strain between her and Malcolm due to love being the only connection because! Yes! She would have the compelling arc to spiral.

It’s too early to say anything yet (let’s see, January) but I swear, it would be disappointing if they make Malcolm be the one to be the bad guy. He’s Jessica’s son, the woman who stayed strong (fell into a bad coping habit but stayed strong and supported the victims), Gil being his parental father figure (who believed that he’s a good kid even if people thought he was otherwise, dang it) , Dani & JT & Edrisa trusting him to be part of the team (despite his tendency to be part of the danger) because he’s actually a good guy-- if they squander those away, it’ll be all for naught.

Ainsley who lied to her brother because she was excited to cover a murder and didn’t want Malcolm to know (for some reason!), Ainsley who tricked her employers and thought interviewing her serial killer father would boost her career, who wanted footage of her fiancée almost dying (for the views), the one that was cold-blooded on TV and the one that did the final blows.

the fact that it’s toph specifically who speaks up on behalf of zuko + mentions his “messed-up family” has me feeling Emotions on this fine Saturday night.

anyone else: what avatar relationships are you into????

me, pointing at my elaborately engraved carving that says “toph and zuko become found-family weird sibling buddies who are both intolerably snobby in a very aristocratic way to each other but like would actually Die for each other”: oh, nothing in particular

toph reassuring zuko that he’s done his uncle proud and then thumping him really hard in the arm is everything  i ever wanted from this friendship and also fictional media in general, thanks.

You know what makes me smile?

For all that Crowley and Aziraphale are such idiots, they're also so smart and they recognize that about the other.

"It's hopeless," the anthropologist sighs. "There's no one alive who could decipher this code."

"Give it here," Crowley says with a crooked smile, adjusting his sunglasses and taking the tablet. "I know just the man. He'll crack that code within the day. "

"But it's written in-

"AND he can read the dead language it translates into."

"The mission is called off," British intelligence spymaster growls. "It's too dangerous, no one could get into that fortress and come out alive."

Aziraphale hides a smile and speaks up with utter confidence. "Leave it to me. I know who can do it. The wiliest, cleverest of all."

"But can we trust him?"

"With my life, and yours, and all the world's."

Sure they can be idiots, but they see the genuine brilliance in each other, and that makes me smile with my whole face.

This post makes my heart sing.

Good Omens Novel: explicitly said Aziraphale is very intelligent

Good Omens Fandom: Aziraphale is pure of heart, home of sexual, and dumb of ass

The passage that says he’s very intelligent is the same one that makes the claim that he is neither gay nor English, so, like…

Technically speaking he’s a highly intelligent celestial being to whom human gender and sexuality do not apply, but in practice he’s a gay British dumbass.

He’s terribly intelligent, and a giant dork.

He’s very smart, and believes the best in people, which makes him very gullible.

He’s incredibly intellectual, and also so terribly earnest in a world that doesn’t understand earnestness as anything other than naive or dumb.

he managed to decipher a centuries old prophetic text that generations of ppl needed a PhD or had to be extremely learned to do.

but at the same time he thinks dolphins are fish.

i love myself one (1) angel.

High INT, low WIS.

I was going to make basically that exact comment so thank you @gleefully-macabre for saving me the trouble. But yes, seriously, there’s a reason why in D&D Intelligence and Wisdom are separate stats

I also have a theory that Aziraphale and Crowley both get at least 50% dumber the closer they are because when they are together most of their brain power goes to internally screaming about their feelings and that screaming only gets louder as they get closer.

They are usually at their max intelligence when in seperate buildings.

I like to believe this improves a great deal after the apocawasnt

let’s talk about how amazing Avatar: The Last Airbender is for a second

  • Fantasy world not based on typical medieval Europe
  • Was a children’s show that openly discussed war, death and genocide
  • Had several handicapped characters, one of whom was the show’s most powerful person
  • Every single character was a person of color, drawn to represent Asian and Inuit peoples
  • Had a character story arc centered around both emotional and physical parental abuse, whose arc was about learning that they didn’t need the parent who abused them
  • Absolutely BEAUTIFUL ART STYLE AND DIRECTION
  • Three dimensional writing that rivals even most adult dramas
  • Characters dealt with sexism in society
  • Showed citizens on both sides of the war, including showing how the people in the enemy nation were merely influenced by propaganda and an oppressive regime
  • Had romances that developed overtime and actually talked about the issues of forming a relationship instead of just “and now they’re in love.”
  • Characters died. On a children’s show. Characters who you fucking knew! Who had story arcs and were their friends and were kids like them!
  • When those characters died, they left an impact. It wasn’t ignored after a few episodes, the feelings they had for these characters stayed through the entire show
  • Had environmental messages that weren’t cheesy, and they made you take the destruction of the environment seriously
  • SUPERB world building, fleshing out many cultures and histories that always felt real
  • Had a magic system that never felt like magic. It always felt natural and like a solid part of this world with rules that couldn’t be broken
  • The cute animal sidekicks weren’t just there to sell toys. They were characters who had so much emotion to them and were vital parts of the show’s dynamic. Also, the animals never talked yet somehow still portrayed an insane emotional level that some Disney films only dream of
  • Spawned a sequel series that dealt not only with sexism, but with sexuality, religion, and the benefits and dangers from the rapid progression of technology

The point is, Avatar: The Last Airbender is one of the greatest shows of all time and the proof is right there
