so just to recap: when they talked about “all the subtext” and “the hints they’ve been dropping” about “the story they’ve been telling from the start” and if we don’t interpret all of it right then hell mend us, they were talking about:

there is so much in these three lines man. sherlock was reading a strange meeting. a blog post that’s literally just john describing what it was like to meet him. it’s not a case. the only clever things in there are just like sherlock deducing john but that’s like less about like john describing sherlock actually being clever and more like. john just commenting on how amazing and mystifying sherlock is. there wouldn’t be anything in there that would like help him really. ALSO SHERLOCK’S PHRASING “it helps me if i do this sometimes” HE DOES THIS FREQUENTLY. he reads john’s blog and like. analyzes how john sees him. i guess this isn’t really new information but like. he’s basically confirmed that he goes through john’s blog fishing for compliments when he’s feeling useless. AND THEN MYCROFT CALLS HIM OUT LMSDKJFGHIOUDF “do you think we believe that’s why you were reading the story of how you and john met” lol i love dyinge

But do you realize the sheer extent of John’s jealousy in ASiB? Irene started texting Sherlock on September 15, according to John’s blog. She stopped at Christmas. That’s just over 100 days worth of texting.

During that span of time, John counted every single one of the texts he heard her send. He kept that mental tally going for over three months. For no one’s benefit. And he wanted to know if Sherlock replied.

Also, consider that 57 texts over a span of 3 months amounts to around 0.56 texts per day, which actually isn’t all that much tbh.

And yet…”YOU’VE TEXTED HIM A LOT.”
