Tom was assured by his lawyer any further questioning about Norman’s murder was just that, and he wasn’t considered a suspect, they just might show up from time to time, bugging him with more questions than he wanted to answer.

The last thing he needed was detectives on his ass, he hadn't fully processed the damn bite on his arm and what it all meant, not really. Everything was happening too fast, and though he felt out of control numerous times before, nothing compared to this.

After a shitty weekend, the last thing he should have done was visit his mother, but it had to be done. Billy smiled at the staff, charming them like he always did, seeming like a dutiful and attentive son, even greeting his shit mother warmly until they were alone behind closed doors.

“This is the last place to check then -“ before she could finish her sentence, Angel kicked the stall door open, “ you’re so subtle.”

Seeing it was empty, Angel turned to her with a frustrated expression. “I'm sick of this weird shit - ” he kicked open the last stall, ready to shoot anything that moved.

Danielle knew the moment she walked in, people would notice and people would talk. What was Milo's wife doing, going up to Billy's floor? But at this point she didn't care. When she entered the office, Billy was reclining in the chair with a smile on his lips.

“This is a surprise.”

“Not when I’m sure Aidan has recounted every step of my day. I'm sure you're all caught up, aren't you?”

He chuckled as he rose to his feet to greet her, “still.” Once Billy was before her, his hands landed on her hips, “I like this.”

Jack snapped his fingers, regaining Tom's attention with a hostile glare. Jack leaned forward, as close he could get with the table between them. Tom kept his eyes locked on the other man while leaning away from him.

“Which one of us is the sociopath, Tom? Hmm? How many people did you kill or leave behind to get on your hill? All those people rotting in your past. Teachers, alcoholic wrecks you used to be friends with, or in bands with. Are you still in touch with anyone not useful?”

“It’s not my fault I can do things as an artist that you can’t.”

Danielle watched the camera as Billy's car pulled into the driveway. Excitement pumped through her at double speed, his stern orders from earlier replayed in her mind.

“That’s what I want you wearing when I get home. All of it. If anything is missing, you’ll be punished.”

A moment later, Danielle flicked the entryway light on, then posed against the wall, lazily tapping the duster against her thigh.

"Welcome home," she greeted in a honeyed tone.

Jack stayed on her mind as she worked. Every so often she’d glance over her shoulder and imagine him there, watching. Though she entertained the idea of ringing the dinner bell to make this easier, she would have preferred to operate under the radar a little longer. But all that went out the window when her world collided with Tom’s. Now, all three of them were tied and it was hard to know which way all this would end.

She could only hope it was paranoia and anxiety that had her seeing Jack in the shadows, that he was too busy keeping an eye on Tom to follow her for the moment. Then she had to remind herself that even if he was watching, he wouldn’t stop her. Jack enjoyed all this too much. But it would be nice to have the element of surprise and find the location without his knowledge.
