Various works by John Williams Godward (1861-1922)
John Williams Godward was an English painter known for being a Victorian Neo-Classicist, though his style may have said otherwise since many of his paintings included beautiful women in studied poses, which led many to believe he was a Pre-Raphaelite. However, Godward's style eventually lost popularity with the rise of artists like Picasso. Godward committed suicide at the age of 61 and is said to have left a suicide note that said "the world was not big enough" for him and Picasso.
