genuinely i love Hades in Demigods of Olympus so much. he's so Just A Guy energy. like he has a great amount of god of the dead energy and general spookiness but also at one point he rises out of the ground corpse-bride style just to gently and silently nudge a pithos into the hole he just erupted out of with his foot and then just continues like nothing happened. he's worried about bad press from a zombie apocalypse. it's never mentioned explicitly but since it takes place during HoO he probably can't just ask Nico to do it cause Nico is busy and/or possibly actively in Tartarus. Hades is hanging out in New Orleans which is for zombie reasons but also you cannot convince me he's not also contemplating how he's gonna start trying to bond with Hazel again now that she's been revived and how to be a good dad to her so he's wandering her hometown to take notes while the Underworld is on fire. it's just perfect.
this is the funniest possible thing Rick could have Hades say in this situation, given some nebulous time a couple of months before this, Hades gifted his son a zombie to "help him make friends." 10/10.
As clarification - this is from Demigods of Olympus!
"5th cohort gets banished to the Car Barn" is a joke that only exists to me but it's been plaguing my mind for like 2 years so enjoy doodles of Camp Jupiter at the Mt. Othrys/Mt. Tam fight
i am genuinely so delighted by Demigods of Olympus. I was getting worried recently that with the drop in quality of a lot of the new stuff in the franchise that I would eventually run out of stuff to be excited about, but Demigods of Olympus is just genuinely so fun!!!! It's silly! It doesn't take itself too seriously! The dynamic between Zane and Sam is really sweet! The stakes are interesting and compelling! There's SO MUCH worldbuilding just kind of sprinkled in there to chew on! Like this is pretty much everything that the CotG/marketing trilogy is trying to be but it does it so effortlessly! It's just cute and fun!
I dont think i've been this energized after reading a riordanverse book probably since Camp Jupiter Classified came out. i am genuinely so delighted by this funky little obscure ebook. rotating Zane and Sam at mach speeds in my brain.
I feel like Nico's fatal flaw should've had a bigger role in the series than it did, or at least been mentioned after BotL. It did play a good part in BotL, but it's just never mentioned again after that. Like, where's Nico struggling not to hold a grudge against Apollo after Jason dies?
I would agree, except for the fact that Nico's fatal flaw... kind of isn't holding grudges.
We're told that by Bianca, but she's clearly kind of incorrect that holding grudges is a shared flaw between all children of Hades. Nico pretty much doesn't hold grudges at all, even when he tries - something I've discussed before. Honestly Hazel holds more grudges about things than Nico does (such as being upset with Jason for multiple chapters about his suggestion to leave Nico in the jar) but even then she moves past it pretty easily. At most it seems more so that Hades' own fatal flaw might be holding grudges. As for what the Hades kids' fatal flaws might actually be, I believe I've suggested before that a better communal fatal flaw for them could potentially be just the concept of "holding on to things too tightly" - Bianca holding on to grudges and negative emotions, Hazel holding on to the past, and Nico holding on to others/his loved ones.
In terms of potential fatal flaws that Nico might actually have, those do come up very often and are frequently plot-relevant in stuff that involves him! Obviously we only see so much because Nico is largely not a major character for the majority of the franchise, but stuff like him frequently being far too self-sacrificial, or putting his loved ones far before his own well-being and getting caught in grief over various people in his life for various reasons comes up pretty often! And in those cases it does do the fatal flaw things you'd expect like with Percy's loyalty or Annabeth's hubris.
Does Clarisse know about Chris’s rouge name “Rue” THEY ARE SO CUTE IYDIIDTXTXI
[post in reference] I like to imagine Chris is really embarrassed about it and he pointedly refuses to tell people his rogue name if they know about rogue names at all, or he pleads with the other ex-rogue kids at CHB to not tell anyone that he basically took his girlfriend's last name like they're married cause he's cheesy as hell and missed her lots.
When Clarisse inevitably finds out, she definitely doesn't cry a little over how sappy that is. Not even a little bit. (She definitely cries a little bit cause her boyfriend is cute.)
ok so i have many different gods ive created, for my world, random stories, for fun, yadda yadda
if i gave you some info about some of them, how would you feel about making headcanons on what their children would be like/ making demigod children for them?
totally fine if not ofc, but i feel like itd be pretty fun! (also i have an au where percy is actually the child of one of these gods lol)
Unfortunately I probably would not be able to - a lot of my conceptualizing over demigod oc concepts and stuff related to their godly parents draws heavily on the established mythology and history surrounding them. The less information there is on the god, the more difficult it becomes - It's a lot more difficult to do so with original characters who don't have several centuries worth of discussion surrounding them.
I would be happy to potentially make a more generalized demigod oc concept list though, which might be useful to you for coming up with your own or anyone else who just generally wants to make a demigod oc but doesn't know where to start! I can't find if I've posted it on my blog before right now but I did at one point make a list of Riordanverse OC questions/prompts at the request of folks on my discord. So I could definitely post that if i haven't already and potentially make more and other general like, suggestions for concepts and etc.
I also have a random generator for PJO ocs [here] (and linked in my blog's sidebar)! So if you ever want to quickly generate some concepts for an oc, that's also an option!

if yall thought i couldn't get more obnoxious about increasingly obscure riordanverse characters, hold on to your butts cause i just finished one of the few parts in the franchise i hadn't read yet and i have a LOT of thoughts about it
so one of my favorite riordanverse headcanons is that rogues tend to go by aliases (either self-selected or assigned to them over time by others) just simply referred to as "rogue names" to deal with the whole "names have power" thing.
i LOVE making rogue ocs just based on thinking about what their rogue names would be, but i also have a lot of fun thinking about what canon rogue characters would go by so here is a little doodle page of a few hcs (plus Hylla's is technically canon! :3)
