giggling and kicking my feet (devious) thinking about how hard everyone would struggle with amadea being gone. ariel is already grieving not having her around -- esp after she just lost her other mentor too -- and the stress of trying to look after her kids and the kids are also grieving their mom and don't fully understand what happened. and ariel can handle fighting gods but a five year old asking her not to read to him because her elven isn't as good as his mom's IS the final straw.
man i feel bad for amadea her man is covered in blood and bruises and he's crying and so sad and pathetic but also like three hours ago was protecting civilians and working w the anti-slavery faction and throwing massive blight tentacles around like they weighed nothing and then tore the throat out of an archdemon
and she's gotta be SO horny but she's gotta. like. be professional and make sure he doesn't fucking die of Chewed Half To Death By Dragon disease.
obviously in the text of the game ariel encourages amadea to reunite with solas but in my little fanfic version of the game where the inquisitor is there the whole time ariel is constantly like "amadea you're the hottest woman on the planet why are you still waiting for this guy who SUCKS!!!!!"
theres a level of comedy to amadea making this fade jail a fade home -- specifically, the fade jail that rook was almost trapped in Forever. it's unrecognizable because it looks like a very charming orlesian steel age manor, usually night-time and usually autumn though not always. and amadea regularly invites rook and emmrich to come on over (to the fade jail) (the fade jail where you/your wife were almost trapped for all time) (also the blight is here, not in the fade jail specifically but like. you know) and they do of course they love the kids and they love amadea and also the guy who tried to remake the world and also kind of kill you on multiple occasions is there but he's just extremely thoroughly a doting wife guy and dad now and he and emmrich will talk for hours and hours and hours if you let them. this is what i have done with the bittersweet ending. they're having tea parties.
oh no thought too hard about the solas::mythal = lavellan::solas parallel
amadea not knowing how to fight and never having hurt much less killed someone intentionally before the conclave and solas having to teach her. against her nature!!!!!!!!!
i KNOW there were nights he laid awake staring at the ceiling with her asleep next to him self-flagellating.
three posts i was gonna make in a row and they're vastly different so i'm just gonna post them at once
- solas and amadea DEFINITELY have more kids. hahlena was Normal -- like amadea always knew she was going to be a mage but she came into her magic late-elementary age like most people do and she's fine. i have decided that spending any significant amount of time in the fade can make mortal elves immortal again, so both hahlena and sorin are immortal. but i am having a hearty chuckle at imagining children born in the fade basically being Born Mages. the chaos.
- it's established in tevinter nights that solas can force dwarves to dream. he does this for Killing Purposes but that does make me think that. like he already has an idea of how to fix what he did to the titans/dwarves.
- been really into strawberry milkshakes lately
it's funny that andrastianism was right but like a thousand years too early. like no a god and his (once?) mortal beloved didn't inhabit the golden city but. they do now.
if i could draw i would do the visual parallel of like. amadea fifteen years ago refusing to give up on her husband and achieving nothing but prolonging his suffering. he dies anyway. she's drenched in his blood. and then the mirror is another man she loves who she refused to give up on, and again her hands are covered with his blood, but he's alive and he's gazing at her with adoration and blood loss and it was worth it this time. <3
amadea's older kid came into her magic like six months before veilguard and was In The Important Part of learning to control magic/be safe while dreaming when amadea goes off to her Couples Therapy Intensive with solas.
emmrich homeschooling a delightful precocious nine-year-old and also his skeleson. they learn to shoot fire together <3
I've warmed up to the idea of the fade prison a little bit but more accurately in the capacity that it becomes, with some work, basically just another bubble in the fade like wherever the lighthouse is. amadea and solas 1:1 recreate the home she'd built in the dales there. she works out, both from seeing how ariel escaped it and from having Intimate Knowledge of Fade Tears, how to open a door for herself to pop out for a bit. she gets some contacts to bring her her eluvian -- the trespasser eluvian, but it's been hers for a decade. and then once there's a door she brings her kids in.
the bonus is that i get to think about ariel and emmrich parenting her kids while this happens.
i would be way more into the bittersweetness of the canon ending but bioware took too long and i imagined too much and im willing to give up exactly none of it.
oh i decided that amadea gets The Hair. she's my special princess even if she's only on screen for two seconds.
AAAAANYWAY thought about that first night after the finale of veilguard where solas gets to sleep in lavellan's arms and there is nothing that can get between them. there are no secrets there is no duty there is no leaden regret weighing him down. he gets to be his full self and know that she sees him fully and loves him fully. 🫶
anyway heres what really happened. amadea got suspicious that varric hadn't written to her with updates even though Things Seemed To Be Happening and she reaches out to lace who is like 'well yeah we're living in some fade dimension that's linked to the crossroads' and amadea, with the eluvian from trespasser and her own little section of the crossroads that she has mapped, finds her way there completely on her own and just kind of shows up one day with her kids. the blight kind of destroyed her house. so.
i also am very tickled by the fact that her kids don't meet solas until the threat is dealt with but they have sure heard about him from rook + the veilguard (even though amadea asked them to please not talk shit about him in front of them)(you can only contain so much). everyone leaves to potentially die fighting elgar'nan and the kids are left there with manfred (this is dangerous)(luckily the lighthouse did NOT burn down). and then mom comes back twelve hours later with a man who Has Been Chewed On and he keeps making sad in-love puppy eyes at her while she keeps him from bleeding out. and that guy is not only the same guy who Did All This but also he's your new dad.
oh my. like my chest hurts. ive been fixated on dragon age and solavellan for years and especially insane about it for the last six ish months and now it's over.
anyway here's what actually happened. to me.
the warden commander handled the blight in the south and amadea fled it with her kids and lived in the lighthouse to actually help rook and instead of solas and her leaving to help him atone he settles down with her and they help the world rebuild and have so much sex and he doesn't suffer anymore because he has suffered enough. and also she's immortal now because i said so.
i still think the veil should have come down.
I've had in my head for a while that ariel is a singer/poet/lyricist and today it clicked that amadeas son sorin is also a musician so when the lavellans visit the lighthouse, a thing that will definitely absolutely happen 100% in veilguard, sorin is obsessed with ariel and asks her to sing songs with him every fifteen minutes.
thought too hard about veilguard era solas and amadea almost playing house 3 dead 9 injured
had the vision of amadea figuring out that, like, the nice courier who brings her things from the village is one of solas' agents and she invites him in and makes him help her peel carrots and potatoes for soup and then she ladles some into jars and seals them up and is like "okay, you saw me make this and can attest that they arent poisoned, so can you make sure that it gets delivered to the dread wolf. i have a feeling he isnt eating well"
