My recent poll made me realize that a lot of people haven't actually been around my blog since the Ol' Days. So, I thought it was about time that I did a little reintroduction!

I'm Katie! You can find me on Amazon as K. E. Koontz; it's right here! You should totally consider checking out my books! I have sea creatures, I've got werewolves, I've got demonic possessions and haunting ghost stories and characters like you wouldn't believe!

I've also got a mailing list, right here!

I'm a bit of a hot mess, but I'm trying! I used to raise and train showjumpers for a living, worked at an animal sanctuary, lost half my vision and switched gears to being a full-time writer!

I'm the primary source of income for my family, which includes my mother and my sister, and all of your support is greatly appreciated! Don't want to buy one of my books? No worries! Consider checking out my patreon, my kofi, or my wishlist!

Anyway, I write a lot of horror, I love werewolves, and I'm very much interested in creating characters that have a heavy, devotional cadence to them. You can also find crime thrillers and fantasy pieces in my collection!

Penny Posting is the tag I use for the romance pieces that will eventually go under my penname, so feel free to block or follow that as you see fit, and keep an eye on the 'my writing' tag for snippets and excerpts!

I just finished getting a full trilogy set-up for preorder and I am soooo exhausted now, but I do still have other projects in the works!

  • Shed
  • Devil Mine
  • Cryptid Hearts
  • They Looked Like People
  • How To Date A Werewolf
  • Gorehound: An Alaskan Horror Story

I host the @writeblrsummerfest every year, have been on writeblr for a very long time, am a professional ghostwriter and dev/con editor, and constantly tell myself 'next month, I'll get my act together.'

My big dream is to get to a point where I can start taking my mother traveling some, and if my username seems vaguely familiar, it may be from that one time I briefly went viral on Tumblr for pulling a litter of two day old kittens out of a very, very deep storm pipe (we still have one of them)!

Anyway, it's great to see you around!

WRITERS !!! REBLOG/REPLY TO PROMO YOUR WORK BUT WITH A CATCH: USE ONE OF MY SILLY SUGGESTIONS WHEN REBLOGGING

1: Share the 3rd paragraph of the 5th chapter to get people interested

2: Share the 4th line of chapter two to get people interested

3: Explain what your book is about but you can't use any words beginning or ending with the letter E or R

4: Explain the events of your book/what happens but through the eyes of a bird [that isn't special like a magic bird/one w/ human levels of understanding] watching the events unfold [if your MC is a bird then through the eyes of a person watching these crazy birds]

5: Explain what happens but as if you're WASTED & honestly kind of jumbling up your own story

6: Share the nineth paragraph but skip every other word & any word beginning with L

7: Explain the plot of your book but as if you're talking to a crazed conspiracy theoriest [your choice on if you're trying to explain your book as if it really happened & they're crazy for denying it OR if you're truly baffled they genuinely believe these events happen & you're reiterating cause you're so ???. Or if you do some other third thing]

8: Promote it but format it like you're making up an elaborate story [not in the way you literally are sndkxnd] on the spot to tell your parents to prevent them from coming in the house until whatever you did wrong is resolved [I.E. people leave, someone cleans the mess you made, etc]

9: As if you're running for office & the events of your story are supposed to be your "relatable" story to get voters on your team

10: Speaking of teams - explain line you're a sports coach, your team has been losing most of the game but the numbers are close & there's still time. So you use the plot of your story as an inspirational tale to get your team pumped enough to win the game !!!

This is the place where everyone talks about wanting unique stories, interesting independent projects, all that jazz, so I want to shout out this anthology that I just found that sounds BEYOND fucking amazing.

"TELL THEM OF US" is a comic anthology that explores the last recorded voices of human civilization, witnessed through the lens of an alien crew discovering a hastily assembled digital archive of our memories: Our attempt, as a species, at both legacy and warning, created in the face of oblivion.

Anyway, I am not at all affiliated with this project, but I did back it and would like to see it come to fruition, so please boost it and support it! (Also one of my favorite artists has a story in this and I will cry if I don't get to read it, thanks)

We're in the last few days, y'all. Please boost this! Please support it! Every time this kind of thing happens, tons of people flood through afterwards being like "wow, I would've loved to pledge to this if I'd known about it a week ago", okay, so let's show it to them now please!!!

hello, do you have any recs for other writeblrs to follow, especially if their wip's are targeted at adults and include queer characters/romances?

gosh, it feels like it's been a Hot Second since i've been an active part of a writeblr community like we had in its heyday but off the top of my head in no particular order: @ghostcasket (naturally) @reininginthefirewriting, @writeblrfantasy, @magic-is-something-we-create, @magnus-sm-writes,

and others i am 100% forgetting at the moment (please use this post to rec others and if i remember any more i'll add them in reblogs!).

(does anyone know where @fortunatetragedy went??)

also i forgot to say in the original: if you fit this criteria, reblog this and i'll boost it! (and follow because i need more of this on my dash too)

Hello I'm a lesbian and my Eirenic Verses series is pretty much all queer people all the time. The first book, 9 Years Yearning, is a gay coming-of-age romance, and the next one will also feature those same characters being disgustingly in love with each other. Also one of them gets kicked in the chest by a horse, which is just great times.

I post about my WIPs but I also post about writing advice, share other peoples' WIPs, some random posts in between ... we keep it casual over here

I fit this criteria! Ace/aro(?)(?)/lesbian author here and I just released my debut queer vampire novel!

Eternal Night of the Northern Sky has gays, bi's, polys, aces, and queers galore.

writers, listen up...

i've fallen out of touch with the writeblr community a lot in the past few years, and i want to rectify that. the community aspect was what made me fall in love with tumblr, and what improved my writing for the better.

the golden days of my writing were when i was highly active and engaged in this wonderful community, but life and work and the horrors of self publishing have overtaken my energy in the past year. however, i have been really struggling with original writing, and i want to get back into the community here.

that said...

  • you write fantasy with queer characters
  • are an indie author
  • post frequently about your wips (taglists are a bonus!)
  • are queer
  • are a very active and friendly writer
  • if any of these apply

please, please reblog and tell me about your wip. gush over it. infodump. characters and ships and worldbuilding and plot, i want it all! this is your invitation to be as selfishly indulgent as possible. let's make some new friends and restore some community!!

boosts appreciated!

Hey! I need help naming my fictional town! It’s set on the river Wye, hence the name choices. The town will most likely be shortened to ‘Vetch’ or ‘Tare’. For example, Hay-on-Wye is often referred to as ‘Hay’. If you have any other name suggestions, please let me know!

·˚ ༘₊· ͟͟͞͞꒰➳ WRITEBLR INTRODUCTION.

I don't usually put myself out there as it makes me nervous. But I've been a lurker for way too long, and it's about time I step out of my comfort zone. So, hello! I'm Dee (she/her), twenty-two, and have found my voice with storytelling.

Writing has always been a passion of mine, and continues to be the tool I turn to when I need an outlet to freely express myself. I have, unfortunately, hit a rough patch with consistency, and I'm here to bring all of that motivation and inspiration back. Especially since there are one too many WIPs sitting on the backburner, and they're all calling my name.

Intro post!!

Hey! I'm Mags (they/them) and I'm a nonbinary lesbian autistic writer!

My current wip is a tragedy in a fantasy setting featuring a lesbian mc, a butch love interest, and nonbinary side characters. It also features mollusks. Love those guys.

My favorite genre is fantasy and my other favorite genre is lesbians (lol)

I'd love to make some writer/reader friends/mutuals so don't be shy!

Call for Beta Readers!

It's that time of year again. I need betas! This is my newest work, a high fantasy standalone exploring a culture without sexual or gender binary, complex family dynamics, grief, respect & abuse of nature, and cultural duty.

The reading period will be from June 1st to July 31st.

For a quick refresher:

When Sasha's family farm is attacked by mysterious poisonous creatures from the sea and her sibling is poisoned, she must trek into the most dangerous magical jungle in the world to find a cure. The only person willing to go with her is a nomadic stranger who seems to be lying about who she is and what she wants. Sasha must uncover the truth of both the poison and the stranger, or else it won’t only be her family who suffers, but the entire island.

genre // high fantasy, (loose) donkey-skin retelling demographics // adult, common sense rating pg-13 status // draft 2 length // 85k pov // first person past tense, dual pov feedback due date // july 31st

I will choose betas on May 25th (or sooner). You will receive a DM or email to let you know you were chosen. I'm planning on having 2-4 readers at this time. I will likely do multiple rounds, so if you are not chosen for this round, you may be invited for a later round.

Signal boosting would be hugely appreciated!!

Hello, Writeblr! I am Solveiga (she/her), writer of stories about folklore and horror and a drinker of tea. I am currently revising a complete draft of the manuscript, and I am looking to make some friends.

THE BASICS

  • Europe / mid-20s / history & folklore enthusiast
  • Love horror, mystery, fantasy, chosen family, slow burn romance, dysfunctional families.
  • If you like stories with morally flawed characters full of sacrifices and betrayals, religious trauma, and found family, then you might be interested in my writing.
  • I am terribly afraid of lightning despite writing about the gods of thunder.

GOALS

  • Make some friends here in the community. Just want to scream and get excited about other people's WIPs.
  • Get my hands on the edits of my draft, and hone my writing skills.
  • Maybe query? We will see about that!
  • Read more books in 2024.

It means a lot to me when someone shows support or interest in my work. Feel free to interact or drop me a message.

Hallmark Exes FAQ!

in light of part 2 being out soon, I’ll be making a little separate FAQ post about them for some backstory info and so i don’t have to keep answering the same questions lol—so send in any questions you have and I’ll answer them in the FAQ!

before getting into the questions, however, I want to clarify something.

Levi and Xavier are my characters. this is my story. while it was prompted by another post—and I encourage everyone who wants to to write their own versions of the prompt!!—it is not a collaborative project. I’ve had multiple separate issues with people wanting to write their own part 2s, and while I really do appreciate that the story resonated so much and inspired people enough to want to add to it, actually doing so and posting it is rude, disrespectful, and a shitty thing to do.

to be clear, I’m not mad at or trying to target any of these people. I know there were no malicious intentions behind it, but my feelings about it remain the same.

I’m not a published author. nobody knows Levi and Xavier are my characters. if someone were to stumble across the original piece and a part 2 someone added without my consent, they’d have no way to know that that’s not canon. any additional info that person decides to include in their writing muddies the waters when I inevitably contradict it, because Levi and Xavier’s story is so much more fleshed out in my head than what I’ve shared on tumblr.

so I guess please just keep that in mind. please don’t hijack my story. it feels weird that I have to say this in the first place, but here we are.

and if you’re about to say something like “but jester, it’s a compliment, it's not that big of a deal! besides, it’s just a tumblr story, it’s not that serious!” I just want to say this: when a writer posts the first chapter of their book or fic on tumblr or ao3 or wattpad or wherever else, do you decide to take it upon yourself to write chapter 2 and post it as if that’s the continuation of the story? no, you wouldn’t, because that’s rude as fuck. this isn’t any different.

ANYWAY. thanks for reading, sorry for the serious post about my silly goofy gay story, don’t forget about any questions you may have :)

☆ writeblr intro ☆

Howdy, folks. I generally kinda hate social media, but I fuck with the vibe of tumblr, so I figured I'd give it the ole college try.

quick facts:

  • I'm 23
  • he/him
  • trans + queer
  • auDHD
  • disabled
  • Appalachian

my nonfiction writing:

I'm a big fiction / fanfiction guy, but I also write a lot of essays - both personal and analytical. If you're interested in nonfiction writing about grief, mental health / illness, gender, political issues, disability, etc., check out my substack idiot archivist. Some of my personal favorite essays include:

death knows my name and it calls me friend - an essay about my experience with chronic suicidal ideation

All Men Are Dogs: How Sex Stereotypes Eclipse Desire - an essay about how my transition has helped me better empathize with cis men

A Name is Earned - a personal essay / creative nonfiction piece about my experience growing up in a fundamentalist Christian church

my fiction writing:

Although I write a lot of fiction, I've yet to really consistently share it online. But! I finally made an account on Archive of Our Own (find me here), and I'll probably be sharing on other platforms very soon.

I write a lot of heavy shit, so I tend to write contemporary dramas, but I'm a sucker for fantasy and sci-fi as well. ADHD brain demands multiple sources of excitement, so I tend to just write whatever's ticklin' my fancy at the minute.

I miss being in (digital) community with other writers / creatives, so I'm looking forward to connecting with folks here. I'm also just trying to get out of my own way and stop taking myself so seriously.

Life is short, the world is on fire, and the imaginary gay people in my brain want to be free - so I reckon I oughta let them, yanno what I mean?

Anyway, nice to meet y'all.

See ya when I see ya.

Call for Beta Readers!! Please boost this post!

💕 Queer contemporary romance 💕

I have a novel (where the romance happens) and a prequel novella (where they're kids and the romance doesn't quite happen) and I'm seeking beta readers for both. I'm planning to publish the novel first, but wrote them with the intent that they could be read in either order so it's up to the beta which order they'd like to read them in, or if they only want to beta one.

Red, like my bleeding heart in your hand - 25k - Nash has enough to worry about with an abusive father at home and a little sister to keep out of harm's way, but when a boy his age, Teddy, moves in next door he finds it impossible to stay away even though he really, really should.

Warning for child abuse - mostly referenced

Blue, like don't forget about me - 60k - Twenty years later, Nash reconnects with Teddy at a funeral of all places. With grief, hurt feelings, and broken promises on both sides--they've got no business trying this thing again... and yet...

Warnings for: references to past child abuse, one (1) sexy scene, several references and innuendoes to sex that happens between scenes, and funerals (there are like,,,,an improbable number of funerals for this fluffy little romance idk man)

INTERESTING STUFF:

  • Ambulatory cane user, undiagnosed autistic MC
  • Jewish, POC, asthmatic, dietary nightmare love interest
  • Small town Appalachian setting
  • Aro/Ace side character
  • MC works at a nursing home and is besties with all the old folks

I'm thinking two months turnaround if you're reading both, but am super flexible on timing. Mostly I'm looking for reactions to what you're reading: what hits right, what doesn't, what's missing. I'm especially interested in perspectives from anyone who can relate to one or more of the traits listed above!

If you're interested, let me know how you'd like to connect and share files (email, discord, etc.) and thanks for reading this far!
