characters whose philosophy is “if i cannot be wanted, i will be needed and if i cannot be needed, let me be used until there’s nothing left of me.” thank you for everyone’s attention. falls off stage and dies
I love characters that are completely harmless until they finally unleash their power and then they’re TERRIFYING
or, even better: totally harmless but occasionally the other characters catch glimpses of what’s underneath and you just know
Characters with raw, unbridled power, that choose compassion and kindess anyway
Consider also:
A character who goes full Eldritch horror mode only to immediately revert back to kind and sweet the moment the danger passes. They proceed to go on with their day like normal, meanwhile their companions are standing there like
being touchstarved makes u absolutely buckwild when someone does smth simple like .share a chair with u
like having someone touch your hand with the tips of their fingers shouldn’t feel like So Much it shouldn’t feel like your whole body is going into anaphylactic shock but here we are. here we are.
ok 2 many of u relate
Someone gave me a compliment and reached out and squeezed my hand and I fell in love and couldn’t speak for several minutes
I was just gonna type this in the tags but I have to say this.
Growing up in North America is surreal. Every tiny little blip of physical affection is deemed as sexual interest. Boys aren’t allowed to hug eachother because “that’s gay.” Girls can’t hold hands because “are they going out?” And GOD FORBID a female friend hugs a male friend.
Having lived in the Netherlands, and reading up about shit like this, Canadians and Americans are starving.
I went to Japan for a school trip in 2012. I went to a highschool there. There were boys hugging, lounging on those blue gym floor mats, holding hands, trowing their arms around eachother. I was startled by how shocked I was.
This mentality of “if you’re touching you must have sexual interest in the other person” is so fucking disgusting. Hug your friends. Hold hands with them. Touch their hands when you want to reassure them.
Normalize platonic physical contact before we all die from lack of it
Happy Endings, yet another wip by yours truly!
Genre: Young Adult, Urban Fantasy

Synopsis:
Melissa Adams is just a simple girl with simple needs. All she wants out of life is to graduate high school already so that she can live permanently in the middle of Silverwood Forest. In the meantime, though, she’s content. She has two friends she likes, a tent set up in a forest clearing that’s dry and relatively safe, and a four-month hole in her memory that she’s made her peace with. It make sense, then that a member of the Argyris family - the powerful founding family of Silverwood city who are always taking more kids into their large orphanage - would ruin all of that.
When Virgil Argyris finds out she’s living in a tent and offers her a place in his home with his legal guardian in the forest away from the Argyris Orphanage, cold weather and a particularly unlucky snake drive her to accept. She quickly finds herself in the middle of a puzzle, one in which she has the pieces but doesn’t know the picture it’s meant to make. All she knows is that the Argyris Orphanage and it’s inhabitants are not all that they seem.
Melissa has bigger problems, though, because not only does she find out that the Argyris family and their orphanage is in danger; she is also pretty sure that she knows more about the threat than she realizes. Soon, she will have to make a choice. She either needs to confront her past and let her new friends in, or she will have to turn her back on them and leave them to their fate.
And she knows that the latter will be easier than the former.
Status: First draft! Loosely outlined, is the first book in what was meant to be a duology but will probably be a trilogy because I’m me.
