I just got described as an "ad hating commie" by someone because I said a minute of youtube ads is unpleasant. fully spent 5 minutes arguing and defending youtube ads. insane stuff
reblog if you are an ad hating commie
I've found that a combination of ublock origin and sponsorblock eliminates almost all ads on youtube and the general internet, if that helps. I don't even know what scammy bullshit youtubers are shilling these days because sponsorblock lets you skip the in-video sponsor reads, and ublock skips the added ads on youtube and in most other places. I routinely forget that Tumblr, for example, even has ads, because I haven't seen them for years.
I dont care who got elected in america but it has been truly horrendous to see the vitriol with which american vote blue liberals have turned against the victims of US imperialism as soon as that circus of an election got over. This isnt anything new btw ive seen so much of this behaviour in the lead up to this election, but it really is mind boggling to see just how many of you really think that you can partake in blaming your "progressive" candidate's failure on victims of literal genocide and still call yourselves "leftists".
If you're also shocked by this behaviour like i am and want to look for material ways to support palestinians who will be bearing the brunt of blame for speaking truth to their suffering during this time, I'd like to direct your attention to Mohammed Ayesh's fundraiser.
Mohammed Ayesh @ayeshjourney is currently the only vetter on tumblr and has been doing the back breaking work of verifying these fundraisers all while also being a healthcare worker in a literal warzone. He has been doing all this while running the @gaza-evacuation-funds account for no personal gain, all to make sure that your money goes to the right people in gaza.
Right now he is responsible for looking after his younger brother, whose eardrums burst due to bombardment in 2014 bombardment and now has to live without hearing aids because of the blockade imposed by the zionist occupation. His family is at constant risk of eviction and violence and theyre in dire need of support right now. The money raised will go towards the repair of his brother's hearing aids, as well as to help his family support themselves at this time.
despite the notes there has been no donations in more than 3 hours. only 4 donations in the past 8 hours. please please continue helping Mohammed. raids and bombardments are only getting worse in central Gaza, and the family needs our help NOW to find safe shelter
£22,551 / £23,000 short term goal. That's £449 more needed to raise urgently
With the summer heat rolling in I really wanted to take a moment and highlight a program I am a big fan of, A.N.E.
"Adopt-A-Native-Elder (A.N.E.) serves to help reduce extreme poverty and hardship facing traditional Elders living on the Navajo Reservation. A.N.E. is a trusted humanitarian organization focused on delivering food, medical supplies, firewood and other forms of Elder support. Respecting the tradition and dignity of Navajo Elders, we create relationships and honor and serve the Elders. The Program is organized in the Native American Spirit of the Giveaway Circle. The Giveaway Circle has a tradition of giving the best that we have. That may be a gift of time, talents or skills, or actual gifts of food and donations. When asked what the boxes of food meant to her, Ruth Benally explained that they were like "miracles from the sky." The miracle is the letters and gifts that arrive from people that they don't know and may never meet. For over 30 years, Adopt-A-Native-Elder has used an integrated approach to go beyond charity to assist indigent Elders on the Navajo Reservation in Utah and Arizona."
A.N.E also puts on an annual rug show & sale, you can read about last years here. Apart from their annual events they also host an online shop where you can buy jewelry, woven baskets, and elder made rugs. All proceeds go towards providing support for our elders be it food, medical assistance, firewood, weaving supplies and so much more.
Not in the market for beautifully made Indigenous crafts? Well they also accept general donations, buy specific items for elders in need, food certificate sponsors, rug show sponsors, and of course adopting an elder.
yay i love being financially attached to a baffoon who keeps forgetting to pay for the class he said he would pay for, and putting a hold on my account so that i cant register for classes and now all the classes i need are full!! so awesome!! meanwhile my younger brother is not having this problem.
Something that I have noticed is I know almost nobody my age that goes to a food pantry. I know people who regularly run out of money for food and in general have to eat an unsuitable diet because that’s what they can afford and they still don’t go to a food bank, im not sure if it’s because they’re embarrassed or maybe if you didn’t grow up going you don’t know much about it but if you’re financially struggling I really recommend it. And look into other options for food assistance too like community fridges and gardens and other programs that can assist you, where I live Salvation Army pays for an allotted amount of grocery delivery for low income people every month, in the summer farmers take excess produce to the library to be taken by anyone who needs it, etc. There are a LOT of resources for free food that you can look into especially if you are literally not eating because of your financial situation
Btw if you have dietary restrictions you can often let them know and in many cases they’ll prioritize certain items for you
- Global map of community fridges
- Urban Harvest - global foraging maps
- Food Not Bombs Global Chapter Locations (mostly vegan!)
- USA - Find your local food bank
- USA - Meals on Wheels free or reduced cost food delivery (age usually 60+, check your specific area's eligibility
if you're feeling powerless right now—and god knows I am—here's a reminder you can donate to the National Network of Abortion Funds, the Trans Law Center, Gaza Soup Kitchen, the Palestine Children's Relief Fund, and hundreds of other charities that will work to mitigate the damage that has been and will continue to be inflicted

If I may, let me add a list of resources to support Ukraine as well.
I know that in internet/24 hour new coverage time it’s been an eternity since Ukraine was attacked, but we cannot forget them.
answering a couple questions i got on this post since i realized ppl genuinely wanna know:
tl;dr:
- israel lets very, very little aid get into gaza. even the UN can't get in as much as they want to. funding individual families, gazan led initiatives, and mutual aid collectives operating out of gaza ensures gazans can provide for themselves and pay for the extremely expensive aid that is available.
- with all the civil infrastructure destroyed by israel, the situation on the ground has devolved into unrestricted capitalism, driving up the price of aid (that should be free!). this makes it more urgent for people to have funding for daily survival.
the post linked above has examples of how donating to individual families can help a lot. if you want to help more than one family at a time, there are many gazan-led initiatives focusing on rebuilding their infrastructure and distributing aid fairly that are worth donating to instead of large charities that already get the majority of donations.
as i mentioned in the last post: @/careforgaza on twitter is a nonprofit started by gazans, it's been endorsed by multiple palestinian journalists.
the sameer project is a collective organized by diaspora palestinians offering emergency shelter to gazans.
ele elna elak is a project aiming to bring water, food, shelter, etc. to gazans and has been promoted by bisan owda.
all of these organizations are active inside gaza right now and are being run by gazans. if anyone knows of other gazan-led mutual aid projects, nonprofits or charities feel free to link them in the notes! hope this helped!
long answers under the cut!
plugging gaza soup kitchen for those with the means to donate! it's another gazan-led initiative currently providing food, water, classes for children, and medical care across the north and south. you can donate through their website or their gofundme, or follow them on instagram for news about their projects
new reason to stay alive: outlive the trump presidency, live to see the day he's guaranteed to never be in office ever again and make sure he knows that he'll never have enough power to kill you
stay strong, friends, this isn't your fault
the most depressing part is that it's not even kamala's stance on genocide that is costing her the elections. i wish it were. it's people genuinely shifting for trump. but it's the pro-palestine movement that's going to get the blame for it.
obviously she fucked up on that front and on multiple other fronts (an understatement) but if these results have showed anything it's that the alt right white majority will never vote for a black woman even if she were perfect. but liberals will blame arabs for the faults of white nationalism and misogyny. at this point if you're blaming the pro-palestine movement and saying shit like "are you happy now? is this what you wanted?" you're just brimming with anti-arab hatred that you're desperate to release at any given opportunity
so what now? the genocide is still ongoing and the rise of fascism is unimpeded but now people will point to those most affected by it and saying "this is what you wanted, right?" and you and i could spend the next four years arguing and yelling at those people or we can do something that matters.
look out for the vulnerable and watch out for the way people are venting their frustration at fascism by blaming its victims.
please reblog this version. anger without action is nothing. if you feel like this is the end of the world remember that this is just another day of the genocide for those in gaza.
i need everyone to know that community is what will save us all in every single way imaginable. you forming a bond with your neighbour or coworker might help them move house or feel less alone or have the courage to leave an unhealthy living environment. you helping a stranger might provide them with hope. in turn, being able to lean on your community in times of need will save you. your broader bonds with your community are the revolution we need. our society seeks to divide and separate us in so many ways but we are all so much more united in our struggles and joys than you are made to believe. we need to hold onto each other very tightly.
Not gonna lie, I'm a bit tired to see the constant argument that people on Tumblr do not have money to donate anymore . We're getting into the Christmas season, with people buying gifts and preparing for Black Friday yet no one can spare to give $5 to a fundraiser ?
I'm always thinking about what the team @/gazafunds posted on twitter, about how they started packing their own lunch and giving up on many things to be able to donate to fundraisers, on top of working endlessly to verify campaigns, making an managing their website etc. Why do the people most affected by the genocide are the one making the most sacrifices ? Even if you are not Arab and/or Palestinian, shouldn't you feel horrified all the same by an ethnic cleansing?
No one is asking for Tumblr users to stop their life and never buy anything ever again, but I find it very concerning to see Palestinian work to the bone to vet and support fundraisers while most people just don't care and reblog "free Palestine" posts without doing anything substantial.
It's not too late to help though. Many people would benefit from getting help, one of them being Shahed (@shahdhatem) for who donations are getting even more scarce. She's one of the kind souls who spent her time during the last year supporting other victims of genocide by treating injuries, distributing food and teaching children who couldn't go to school anymore. Please consider helping her and her family get through these horrors by donating .
Also please check out @/gazafunds site and sudanfunds.
only two donations in the last six hours. $305 till we reach our short-term goal of 27.5K. please donate if you can!!
