Read the Spring 2020 issue of Citizen Magazine online for free

Dear Friends,

Today sees the launch of the new issue of Citizen, the quarterly magazine for everybody engaged with the challenge of shaping and improving the city. The new issue showcases proposals to transform the contemporary city, discusses the potential for co-ordinated collective action against both COVID-19 and climate change, and explores the power of capital and ethical investment to transform citizens’ lives. Incisive criticism and commentary is complemented by specially commissioned photography by Freddie Ardley, original poetry by LionHeart, and illustrations by Thomas Demand. Edited by Isabel Allen and designed by Simon Esterson, Citizen is the first venture from the LSA’s publishing arm. Its aim is to champion, challenge and develop ideas that build on the school’s mission – to allow people living in cities to have more fulfilled and more sustainable lives. In this issue you can find 136 pages of essential opinions and propositions, including: — Peter Bishop on how the pandemic will change society and the city —Social media campaigner Finn Harries on the need to transform education — Amanda Baillieu on the economic crisis caused by COVID-19 — The new breed of Ethical Investors with social and environmental goals — Proposals for London by the generation that will inherit the city — Professor Jem Bendell on how to adapt to the climate catastrophe — Remembering Michael Sorkin, with Anthony Vidler and friends — Peter Buchanan’s essential reading for the post-pandemic world — Fiction from Lev Bratishenko — Poetry from LionHeart — And much, much more...

CITIZEN MAGAZINE

I have had the absolute pleasure to work for CITIZEN Magazine from their inception last year. Now I can share an incredibly exciting new resource with all of you on tumblr for the first time.

CITIZEN Magazine comes from the incredible team of Will Hunter at the London School of Architecture, Isabel Allen, our fabulous Editor-in-Chief, formally Editor-in-Chief of Architect’s Journal and Simon Esterson, Designer of the Guardian Newspaper.

This has been an intensely rewarding editorial publication to be involved with as their staff photographer.

I am now absolutely delighted to offer the next incredible edition of the magazine to everyone on tumblr completely free. It will present challenging ideas, from leading minds, thought setters and those who want to expedite the development of cities for the good of all Civilisation, global, national and local.

I’m proud to present that the next copy of the magazine will be available free for all, from Thursday 23rd April 2020. An incredible in-depth look at topics covering everything from space, global change, climate crisis and the effects of coronavirus. I can’t wait for you to read the blood sweat and tears the editorial team have put into the latest edition of CITIZEN.

get the current edition free below, thought provoking, long reads.

I believe what matters about photography, is that it can capture the world in a creatively unique light, that has the potential to be a source of inspiration for anyone.

This is certainly why I love to create photographs. There is never a better feeling than to inspire others. This photograph is one of the biggest I have printed so far and measures 75 x 75 cm.

I'm Taking A Week Off!

I feel absolutely exhausted. So I have decided to take a break from all things internet and go and spend the week in Oxford.

Gives me some time to catch up on my second favourite thing in the world, reading fashion and drooling over clothes.

I will also be taking more pictures of course, try to take 100 a day, I don't want to get behind! Until next week.
