guys do you ever have one part in your story that leads up to your favorite part with favorite characters but you just can't write it because, well you want to write the fun, the action. the big stuff, the angst, the sorrow, the climax. but you can't because you need to finish the part of the story that leads up to that.
WRITE NONLINEARLY.
WRITE NONLINEARLY.
LEARN TO WRITE NONLINEARLY.
ACCEPT THAT WRITING NONLINEARLY IS OKAY AND YOU DESERVE IT.
I can't scream this from the roofs loud enough.
Write the scene you are currently inspired to write! Don't save it as a reward for when you finish slogging through the boring stuff! By the time you get to it, you'll have beaten it to death in your head and the excitement will have worn off and it won't come out as good as if you had just written it when your heart told you to write it.
You won't always be inspired to write that part, after it's written you will be inspired by a different part, maybe even a part that seems boring to you right now. Writing moods change! Inspirations change!
And if a scene is still boring for you to write, ask yourself why it's boring. Then ask yourself why you even wanted that scene in the first place. Is that scene even necessary? If it is, what would make it interesting for you? Or could you replace it with a different kind of scene that serves the narrative better? If it's boring to write, it'll likely be boring to read. Change it to something that inspires you!
