like. you wouldnt be depressed if the woman who promised more kids in cages and more bombs on gaza won? is that what im getting?

funniest possible thing that could happen now: trump dies before taking office

"You can't make friends onli-" I would defend any of my Tumblr mutuals to the death with only a pocket knife and random rock, you heathen.
Fahed Shehab has contacted me to post his fundraiser. I have verified this is a completely legit fundraiser.
Please do not hesitate to donate.
Just over a 1,000 donors have helped @abood-gaza7 get to $23,964. Together we can get him to his goal! If the same amount of people match my donation of $15 we can get Abood to his goal! Please spare anything you can 🙏
$25,280 !
Abood raised $400 in 15 hours and is over halfway to his goal! If just half of the current amount of people who donated spent $20, Abood would reach his goal! More importantly, any bit helps. Even just $5 can change someone's world right now, and please share if you cannot donate to @abood-gaza7
“We won’t be able to organize/ protest under Trump”.
People in the Global South have been organizing and protesting under dictatorships that America has installed as puppets for decades. You will be fine.
*totally rational person when their country is getting painfully overwhelmed with the amount of people who harbor absolute vitriol, disgust, and violent intentions toward women, queer people, and people of color* this is all because this minority who isn't even large enough to make her win even if every single one of them voted for her just couldn't suck it up and get over the deaths of their families 🙄 what do you mean i'm racist i'm totally not
I think people are wildly overestimating how many people in the US identify as a leftist, can explain to you what a leftist is, and quite frankly, can even tell you what is happening with Israel and Palestine. You cannot imagine how profoundly checked out the average American is and I'm not even saying that to be mean
I think whether people know those words and situations, they definitely absorbed a lot of people online and in real life saying they're both the same, politics suck, government is corrupt, america sucks and whether you were right or left or the people watching those tiktoks or posts knew the specifics, if that was your vibe and you put it out there, it sure didn't help.
Again, I think you're overestimating people's exposure to this kind of stuff, the kind of people who have tiktok vs those who don't, etc.
When I say people are "checked out" I don't mean in a "both sides are bad" way, I mean in a "I don't know what's happening in my own state, much less in another country" sort of way. I mean in a "finding out that Biden dropped from the race the day of the election, possibly even while looking at the ballot itself in confusion" sort of way. I mean in a "Cannot tell the difference between Pakistan and Palestine and would likely guess it to be somewhere around the center of Africa" kind of checked out. A lot of people-- and again, if you're using this site you probably might find this to be a cynical statement when I'm genuinely not trying to be-- frankly just do not recognize that the inconveniences they encounter in their daily lives relate to politics at all. They have their general, abstracted slogans about war being bad or whatever, but they don't see a relationship between, say, the price of groceries and any political events happening at a given time.
Mind, I'm not even saying this is *most* people, nor am I even saying "These people are why the election went the way it did." I just think, to reiterate my point, that people tend to wildly underestimate how many people are like this, while also wildly overestimating how many people in the US are like, abstaining because of any kind of principled stance versus not wanting to leave the house on a Tuesday.
Grumbling about internet commies pumping out negative psychic vibes into the air is a coping mechanism for an unpleasant election result, but I think it's important to understand that 1) the reach of those people are wildly overstated on sites like Tumblr, and 2) the average person will, unless making active attempts to avoid it/seek out other content, will passively absorb or encounter predominantly right-wing content. This is even assuming that they are using social media at all, much less the same ones you're thinking of and for the same reasons.

at least in 2016 the vibe the next day was "we have to fight" and already today I've seen 10 different variations of liberals being like "you all deserve this I'm going to watch gleefully while that man starves you and your family"....i don't think you're that politically far off from the people you claim to hate
To be fair, they weren’t fighting during 2016-2020 either. They’re just preemptively justifying a lack of action and lack of solidarity with those who will once again be forced to take action.
anybody paying attention saw the rise in conservatism among the youth over the last few years. the return of the r slur, modesty/ tradwife content, rampant fatphobia, misogynistic twitch streamers...the writing was on the wall
