Pokemon beta babies in the day care center! Gotta look after them too 0ワ0
My girlfriend’s birthday was last week, so I wanted to surprise her with a little something! One of her favourite Pokemon is Snorlax, who she nicknamed Snacky Doug in Pokemon Sun, so I decided to recreate him in chocolate! This was actually a collaboration with @antialiasis! She and another of my internet friends stayed with my girlfriend and I last summer, and Dragonfree drew us some cute Pokemon as a part of her daily drawing blog. I specifically asked for a drawing of Snacky Doug eating some Poke Beans at the time, thinking it might be fun to make in chocolate for my girlfriend!
The drawing (left) was super cute, but a bit small, so I scanned it, resized it, flipped it, and printed out the new version. I flipped it because the chocolate will come out as the mirror image of whatever I make, odd as that sounds! I cut out the new Snacky, and taped him to a flat cookie sheet. I then cut out a piece of wax paper, and taped that over the drawing. Next was time for the chocolate! When doing this method, it’s best to start with the outline. So I melted some milk chocolate by filling a bowl with boiling water, then placing a smaller bowl with the chocolate inside that. I stirred the chocolate until it was runny and consistent. I then mixed in black food colourong.
I placed the melted chocolate into a Ziploc bag, and cut off a small bit off one corner, creating a pastry bag! Then I just had to outline the shape by using it like a pen!
Once I was satisfied with the outline and it had cooled and hardened completely, it was time to add in the small details. I used white chocolate for the claws and teeth, and pre-coloured Wilton Candy Melts for the mouth and Poke Beans.
The next step was filling in the cream-coloured belly. I had to make a custom colour here, and I love the result. Then I just had to add the blue body and wait for it to cool. It may seem counter-intuitive that I covered all of the little details, but that’s because once all of the layers harden, we flip the chocolate onto its back to see all of the details on the other side!
And here is my chocolate creation next to the original drawing! Now you can see all of the details, and how it is now facing the same way as the drawing. This wasn’t the most challenging food project I’ve ever made, but it was so cool collaborating with a friend! And of course my girlfriend got a big kick out of it!
Rustle’s getting the hang of crochet. It’s a little different from knitting, but it’s a lot faster, for certain. Soon she’ll be doing three sets at once! That’s not the only change she’s going through at the moment, though…
No prizes for guessing the scarf’s inspiration. It should be obvious xD
i tried animating! a lillie smile
Happy birthday, Mewtwo!
Mewtwo has been my favourite Pokémon for forever, and I decided to mark his birthday with a cake!
I’ve wanted to try making a simple cake in this style for awhile! I wanted to make it tiered and dye the cake (the bottom layer came out decidedly less purple-white and more white-white than expected) and give it a cute shape! My partner drew me a stencil and made the awesome chocolate facial details.
@antialiart also made adorable fan art of Mewtwo eating my cake at my request!
Bonus pics because Mewtwo parties hard
