“Can’t wait to terrorise some old ladies and get banned from Venice,” Matty says, with a delighted smile on his face. He nods towards the teachers who are trying to round everyone up, then hooks an arm into the crook of Ross’s elbow and moves them along, leaving Jack behind. “Which boat is it, Mr. Rigby?” Matty asks, in a somewhat flirtatious tone that Ross really can’t blame him for. Mr. Rigby is well fit. Tall, bulky, perfect curly hair with only a few strands of silver that look painted in, and a fun little moustache that makes him look like an old Italian film star. On the plane over, Ross caught Matty staring at him and proceeded to challenge him to very obviously flirt with him, for a laugh and also to ascertain what they all suspect about his sexual preferences.
“Number 2 towards S. Marco,” Mr. Rigby replies in a kind and patient tone. “Not the most direct, but we’re taking the scenic route down the Grand Canal, so Mr. Harrison and I can yap about some of the buildings, if you’re interested in listening.”
“Sweet,” Matty says, smiling coquettishly. “Our very own tour guide.” Ross nudges him with his elbow and Matty catches his eye briefly, then adds: “And he looks like Marcello Mastroianni.”
“Well done,” Ross whispers in Matty’s ear, a grin spreading across his face as he watches Mr. Rigby taking in the compliment and beaming. He’d specifically challenged Matty to say that to him, earlier on the plane, and of course Matty’s already delivering on his promise.
“Oh, that’s way too kind, Matthew,” Mr. Rigby replies, preening a little. “Although I did get that a lot in Rome, when I was studying there.”
“Can’t wait for Rome, then,” Matty replies, winking at him.
“Alright, pipe down, you,” Mr. Rigby says, stealing the words from Ross’s mouth. He pats Matty’s shoulder twice and raises his voice to tell everyone to move forward as the boat’s approaching.
Before the new chapter, I desperately still need to get my thoughts out!! You know life has been busy, but I feel like a lot of people (me included) need a little reminder of what happened, so I’m gonna yap awayyyy
“He sees himself again, a little older, a little more handsome and confident, sitting on a couch next to Matty and holding his hand while someone asks them a series of really boring questions until they finally get to the good part. And are you two… you know. Together? “Yes,”[…]”… Damn. Even while reading it a second time, this is a true punch in the gut. George </3. They all just want a happy ever after, don’t they? 😭
I think with this chapter you are slowly pulling me out of the extreme hate I have for Jack. I still don’t love him (sorry mate, and another opportunity to say Fuck You Ross for the beginner’s luck thing. Still not over it!) buuut it’s getting better! I might have even started rooting for the troublemakers after that little (probably super confusing) dream George had. 🌚 All the fucking tension!! You just know how to do it. “I also seem to recall Matty saying something about sucking Ross off in a church confessional.”… has anyone said something about this yet? If not, we should talk about that.👁️👄👁️ Ever since reading the chapter for the first time, my mind went back to that quite a few times to be completely honest. Make that happen, pretty please?
Now to George’s birthday- I *love* the theme so much (little fun fact: Edge Of Seventeen is my go-to karaoke song lmao). The whole conversation between Matty and George while getting ready made me smile ear to ear. I love them SO much. I might be as confused as the baby gays by now- who am I even rooting for at this point? They are all not perfect in any way and somehow, they work SO well together, no matter the pairing. If I was them, I’d probably do the same dumb shit as them, while yearning for something similar to what Carly and Adam have, but it’s just not that simple, eh?

Okay NOW. Tilly. When I first read the chapter, I was like ‘Has George gone full mental and imagined her?’, but then again, other people saw her too. Wouldn’t put it past him at this point though lol
Then the end of the chapter… Holy fucking shit. I don’t know how many times I re-read it before actually leaving AO3 that night. As someone who rooted for Ross in the beginning, then switched teams at one point, this is kind of everything I had been waiting for forever, isn’t it? The whole ‘I’m in love with you’ thing and Matty not being able to grasp it at first touched something incredibly tender in me and made me super soft, but I feel so so so bad for Ross now. (Weird coming from me, isn’t it 😂)
I’ll always admire your way of writing. You’re seriously the only writer who manages to not make me cringe during sex scenes. It’s just *chef’s kiss* through and through. But holy fuck, George, you’re playing a dangerous (and very hot) game with the ‘Will you break up with him?’. I’m not even mad at George. I get it. But Matty… Well.
So much happened in this chapter, and again, I loved every single second of reading it. UGH. Thank you for this incredible story <3

they all want a happily ever after, yes, which is why I'm very happy that you're warming to Jack. despite his and George's methods being far from orthodox, they are both after the same thing as everyone else 😭
George's birthday is a complete slut-fest (affectionate), and while they all want what Carly and Hann have I think they're secretly enjoying their slut days way more than they care to admit. the kissing game was a random idea I had and I can't believe what it turned into. writing that bit was not as easy as I'd hoped but a LOT of fun 🌚
the Blossoms boys are as wholesome as they were necessary, and the idea of Matty being jealous of their moderate local success and pretending he doesn't like their music was too funny not to incorporate ✨
I am happy to confirm that Tilly is indeed real and not a manifestation of George's extremely bisexual subconscious, and also I'm pretty sure they're very non-binary. a truly magical person for George on his special night, alongside femme Matty who was on his absolute worst behaviour that night, and also the next morning.
I feel incredibly conflicted about that First Time but I also love it in a way. how to completely heal a person and utterly destroy another in one smooth stroke 😅 much more on that to come, as you know 👀

heya! I'm in desperate need for a writers advice as I'm writing my very first own play please :'). What do you think about incorporating "situations" from your private life into your writing? Do you do it? I don't know how to feel about it but at the same time I don't know how not to do it or draw from it either.
I started writing this lovey dovey bit when I was in love but now that it's over I don't feel like continuing it it at all. Would you say it's dumb to change the whole thing and turn it into a dramatic mess just because that's how I feel now? Basically in a separating art from the artist way
I don't know if it's just me or if that's a relatable problem ._. I'd really appreciate advice

hey hey, I love this kind of stuff! I have never written a play myself but I guess this logic applies to any kind of creative writing so I'll try to give you my two cents on the matter and hopefully you'll find it helpful.
the short answer is YES, my god, of course a lot of the emotional stuff is very personal, otherwise I think I'd find it a lot harder to convey exactly what I want to convey. "write what you know" is rule number 1 for a reason. it just makes things a lot easier!
that being said, it doesn't always apply. I feel you on the "I had a bad breakup and I don't want to write romance anymore" vibes, because that happened to me in the past and engendered a terrible case of the old WB, which took ages to shake. and there's never a proper cure for it, in my limited experience, it just needs to feel right to write again. but if it's of any use to you as a piece of advice, I wouldn't go destroying the vibe you've already established (unless not much was written before, in which case probably scrap it and start over) and I would just give myself some time to reread and reflect on what deserves to stay and what should go. then, if you do have a new idea for the rest of the story that you definitely want to write in, see what parts of what's already written would fit with and which wouldn't. might help you make a decision, might not.

I've been a little busy in the past couple of days on the least relaxing holiday I've taken in a good while, bopping around the north west of England and being totally normal about the places I picked to visit (today only: all of the locations in the Peak District I put in chapters 19 and 20 🌚)
