refresher on pv facts

EDIT: important bit i forgot whoops! the series was being developed since 2010 as a movie but 2012, negotiations were being made with toei animation to make an anime series that would be animed at teens and young adults, NOT kids. that was was the pv was made - “promotional video” “for internal use only” - producers didn’t like it, so the pv was scraped and they tried for a 3d series instead

since some people don’t really seem to know either because they weren’t originally into it, or forgot, or are new to the fandom:

ladybug was marinette cheng - NOT BRIDGETTE - bridgette is the fandom name we started calling pv!marinette circa 2015 to differentiate the versions of the character
marinette was fully chinese. her surname, from what was known at the time, was just ‘cheng’. there was nothing else that pointed to her being half.
chat noir was felix. no surname. felix was originally a fandom nickname since his civilian name hadn’t been released. eventually promotional material released that confirmed the name was felix.
the original premise for the powers was good luck and bad luck. no lucky charm, no miraculous ladybug, no cataclysm.
actually i think the ship name was lucky charm - you get why
marinette was only allowed to use her powers for altruistic reasons. if she used them selfishly, bad things would happen.
felix was cursed with bad luck. we don’t know why.
he couldn’t take the ring off
he was forced into doing hero work because - i think - his bad luck would get worse is he didn’t. don’t trust me on this one. but he was forced into it.
the only way to remove the ring, and the curse, was to get a kiss from ladybug.
ladybug and chat noir weren’t really partners. she actually hated when he tried to get involved because his bad luck would just fuck things up for her
chat noir relentlessly, desperately pursued ladybug.
marinette relentlessly, desperately pursued felix. we don’t know why.
she really did not leave him alone.
we didn’t know the deal with hawk moth le papillion at the time
le papillion had two buff bodyguards and an assistant/henchwoman. neither were seen in the trailer.
it seemed that mr pigeon and mime were recurring villains?
felix may not have been an absolute prick? there’s concept art of him talking to other people…idk
quantic kids! we didn’t get any snippet of them until 2012/2013 with this online slot machine game. i think i was the one who brought major attention to it? there were old fanarts of them before 2015 but it doesn’t seem like many knew about it…
the first mention of the change from felix to adrien was, at the earliest, 2013. i think it was 2014, i’m not sure. WAIT, no i think it was 2013 cause of the-
FU in the pv concept was called the ‘guardian of the orb’. we have concept art for the orb. we have no idea what it does. if only sam-g released the artbook in english…it’s been what 3 years? gimme…
THE EARRINGS WERE AN HEIRLOOM FROM MARINETTE’S GRANDMA THAT SHE FOUND IN HER ATTIC I FORGOT ABOUT THAT - ok yeah so there was an old source thatihavetofind that said that marinette received the earrings from her grandma, or something like that…
but then there’s also a synopsis that says fu entrusted marinette and adrien with stopping hawk moth…that may have been because they already had their jewelry?
oh yeah, miraculouses weren’t a thing. they were just magic jewelry with tiny spirit pets.

I just remembered I have a Miraculous ladybug art book in my room. So I opened it up, and found something interesting about Hawkmoth. Well, actually the 2D Hawkmoth.

Here are the pages about him, and his evil organization. The name of the organization is 페르그 in Korean. I don't know if this is Ferg of Perg or Pergue in English.

According to the artbook, 2D Hawkmoth was named Papillion, which is the French name of the current Hawkmoth. And his name wasn't Gabriel Agreste, it was Richard Sphinx.

So, I suppose Hawkmoth wasn't Chat noir's father in the 2D version? That makes me wonder how they became related in the current version...

Anyway, 2D Hawkmoth has an insight of the future, with the help of the fairy Null. Null has a plan of making the world back to 0, and is the reason why Tikki and Plagg are stuck in earings and a ring.

It's interesting to see that Tikki and Plagg were not supposed to be in earings and a ring in the first place. Looks like the miraculous wasn't a sacred jewelry in the 2D version.

Also, Null seems to be the prototype of Nooroo. And despite that Null is actually the bad gut. Looks like there were many changes when Miraculous Ladybug became 3D.

Back to the art book, 2D Hawkmoth is a man with great wealth and great eloquence. And he is obsessed with wealth and desire for domination, to forget about his missing wife.

Looks like Hawkmoth's wife was missing in the first place. Well, it is unknown if she's really missing or sleeping or dead in the 2D version.

And unlike the current version 2D Hawkmoth tried to forget about his wife. How interesting he is not obsessed with his missing wife and rather wealth, unlike the current Hawkmoth.

And finally, 2D Hawkmoth has a secretary. Her name is pokerface, and her real name is...uh, I'll call her Adoni Dooser. There's no English name revealed, only 아도니 두서...So Adoni Dooser for a while.

She has the power to make everyone in the world emotionless. And she is in love with 2D Hawkmoth, but it's an emotion that cannot be fulfilled, and she understands it. She is a loyal secretary to 2D Hawkmoth.

I suppose Adoni Dooser is the prototype of Natalie. She is the secretary of Hawkmoth, who else could it be? And it is confirmed that she is in love with Hawkmoth. That explains the Gabriel and Natalie stuff I guess.

It's interesting to find her powers is making people emotionless. It is kinda the opposite of Natalie, a.k.a. Mayura's power, which use emotions and make sentimonsters.

By the way, I found that Adonis means a type of butterfly in French. Since Papillion means butterfly in French, I suppose this is where her name came from?

Unfortunately, there was no information about the other two on the sides. They look like 2D Hawkmoth's henchmen though. I wonder who they were supposed to be. Maybe the prototype of Gorilla?

Also, I found that Mr. Pigeon and Mimeman had a partner fairy in the 2D version. Which is cool, cause they were not just akumatized villains but villains who are partners with fairies.

This information makes me want to see the 2D version of Miraculous Ladybug so bad...I wish I could see that version in an alternate universe.

Under the mask of Chat Noir hides Felix. Felix is a classmate of Marinette, and he's popular among girls. Marinette loves Felix, but Felix has no interest on her. He loves Ladybug, whom he can meet as Chat Noir, but he doesn't know her identity is Marinette.

He has a speciality on athletics and boxing, and when he rotates his ring he can transform to Chat Noir. Felix is more cheerful as Chat Noir.
