poly ships are so fucking perfect and i wish there was more. i wish there were more fics exploring three people falling in love, or two people building a friendship and growing closer because they’re both in love with the same person. i want art and head canons and all of it. there’s so much that’s untapped because not enough people seem to want to go in that direction and it’s really sad

Except when poly fics get significantly less in the way of comments, kudos, and hits than pairing fics.

Except when posting chapter 1 of a poly fic immediately results in anon asks of “How much is <person 3> involved because I love <Pairing>?”

Except when poly fics involve — *gasp of horror* — a female with a m/m OTP, and that cuts comments, kudos, and hits even more.

That’s when writers consider giving up on poly fics, because pairing fics get a whole lot more in the way of feedback.

It really gets really discouraging to see a number of poly fics not get the attention they deserve even when poly is a legitimate and wonderful thing idk I still say we would write our poly ships anyway and stick it to every person who says “ugh poly”

normalize polyamorous people having families and raising children together. destroy the idea that the nuclear family is the default, that it’s the best option for everyone, that it’s the only option that “counts” and that any other kind of family is automatically unhealthy and ‘bad’.

I am honestly so supportive of young women and girls who don’t want to present themselves as sexual, whether they’re asexual, sex-repulsed, politically celibate, women who don’t want to feel or be sexy, or women who just don’t want to discuss it. I’m supportive whether this is something temporary or permanent, whatever the reason for it. If sex isn’t liberating for you, that’s great. There’s nothing wrong with that and I’m sorry you’re being sold the lie that you’re repressed and/or unfeminist.

Taiwan Becomes First Country In Asia to Legalize Same-Sex Marriage

In a vote on Friday, May 17, Taiwan parliament legalized same-sex marriage, becoming the first country in Asia to do so.

This is only a week before the Parliament was to hit the deadline of May 24 set in 2017 after the constitutional court ruled that same-sex couple had the right to legally marry. 

Following years of campaigning by LGBT+ groups for equal marriage rights, hundreds swarmed the parliament building on Friday as the debate was held. Three bills were debated but last-minute attempts by conservatives to pass a watered-down “civil union” laws with not adoption rights were rejected.

In the end, the most progressive one was chosen which allowed couples to form “exclusive permanent unions” and apply for “marriage registrations.” However, this bill was not perfect, as it provides only limited adoption rights and draws some distinctions between heterosexual marriage, such as the inability to marry a foreigner if same-sex marriage is not legal in their country. Yet this is still be hailed by LGBTQ+ advocate as a momentous victory.

This landmark ruling will be implemented on May 24th and is bound to spread hope in Asia’s growing LGBT+ movements.
