btw body horror is stuff that doesnt naturally occur and is used to scare ppl, like extra eyes, animal parts on a human, a mouth opening in the stomach, not. disabled people’s bodies lmao.

This post was a plea to stop treating visibly disabled people as monstrous because of the differences their disabilities have caused. It was not an invitation for people to argue what is and is not body horror. It was a call out for dehumanization, not the horror genre.

bringing this back around for IFEW (international face equality week)!! take this time to educate yourself on disfigurement and similar things, and take the steps necessary to become a more accepting and understanding person!! disfigurement and disability is not something to be afraid of!!

it's unfair how much the structure of the internet these days robs people of the ability to hate on media without having it be taken as an indictment of other people, their actions & tastes. i should get to talk extensively about why i hate a ship, just as much as i get to talk about why i like something. and the people who like that thing and follow me should be able to avoid it without trouble. but more than that i wish there still existed the basic generosity of “i hate this thing you like but i am uninterested in robbing you of your joy, so don't take my words to heart.” and on the other side “i recognise that you have an opinion that contradicts mine but your verdict on my tastes is not a judgement on the worthiness of my pursuits.” you don't have to listen to everything someone says, even if they're your friends. and you shouldn't have to pretend to like things you don't in order to not be deemed a hater. disliking something is completely neutral.

Welcome to art group! We are an inclusive online space for all artists. We are here to learn and grow and most of all support one another!

Here are the rules

-no nudity ever including bare nipples. No not even if it's a Greek statue or an ancient hieroglyph. Nipples and nudity are not art.

-no violence or depictions of weapons or blood. Will this rule extend to photos of generic white people holding spears in their play-pretend pseudo native American garb? Probably not.

-nothing too political, this is art group not debate group! Everyone knows art is only ever aesthetic and carries no political baggage. Don't make people think too hard and for the love of GOD Don't challenge any preconceived notions.

-never ever hint that anything you make could possibly be available for sale, ever. Yes I know this group is about supporting artists but we didn't mean like. Physically in any way.

-No art that makes mod Steve sad :(

-if your art is ugly tag it with a trigger warning

-have fun!

I don’t understand why people who cannot accept any moral grayness or complexity decide to join fandoms for the most emotionally complex stories and then try to shame everyone there who actually is able to understand the material.

There’s this… phenomenon… I’ve witnessed in several fandoms, where a particular blog gets really popular within a fandom.

And suddenly that blog will start getting people literally asking them for permission to hold certain opinions. I don’t mean someone just asking “hey can I get your feelings/opinions on this subject” but “is it okay if I think/do xyz?” like some child asking their parent if they can go somewhere.

Worse, is when these blogs start taking these questions seriously and feeding them answers. Like they suddenly start believing that they truly have this authority. I mean it’s bad enough when people do this and the blogger is just like “well I have my own opinion but don’t ask me” but when they start to actually act like they can tell other people what they are “allowed” to do.

This I the creepiest fucking thing on tumblr I swear.

Why would you give some random stranger on the internet that much power over your mind? Why would you be so afraid of forming your own opinions that you have to ask someone else to give you opinions to hold?

And so often they end up with a rabble ready to crucify anyone who doesn’t do as they are told, and that’s when I really run for the hills…
