I love how people are DEMANDING a new season of CCSCCA. Like, the season only just ended. Madhouse isn’t going to magically pull it out of their arse.
also did people esp those who saw the series when it was airing on TV forget that during the original series, season 2 didn’t air until 4 months after season 1 ended? Season 1 ended December 1998 and season 2 began April 1999. And I’m sure back then they didn’t announce season 2 since this was 1999.
THISSSSS
I saw a post on one of my social media sites I use that was complaining and saying “the original series was continuous wth is with this” basically, and I just shook my head and resisted the urge to bash my head against the wall because it was definitely not continuous in the sense it didn’t have any breaks. Coz there was definitely breaks. Like the very obvious 4 month break between season one and two.
People are also forgetting that the previous anime had 70 episodes but are complaining that Clear Card is moving too slow. Like…what?
OH MY GOSH YES LET ME GET SALTY FOR A MOMENT AND REBLOG THIS BECAUSE SERIOUSLY
I’ve been tweeting in Italian about this because I’ve seen a lot of complaints in the italian audience too but, if I dived into the international reactions I could’ve probably pulled my hair from exasperation
EVERY SINGLE THING SAID IN THIS POST IS TRUE
The old anime was 70 episodes long, but let’s take just the first arc as a comparison: 46 episodes and we got to the core of the story in episode 45, when Sakura captured the last card and the Final Judgement started. Until then, it was 44 episodes of slice of life having always the same pattern: Sakura goes to school, Sakura encounters a card, she waits for a better moment to capture it, she captures it, end of the episode! And this for 44 episodes. Tell me again about slow development? Geez, I saw people starting to ask for answers in EPISODE 5 OF CLEAR CARD! “Cool but nothing happens” Dude what do you expect to happen in episode 5?? :(
And the breaks too, yes, even back in the 90s it was customary to break the anime series into seasons, nowadays we have one further method of division, the “cours”, which correspond to a batch of 3 months of airing time. Currently, the Clear Card Arc anime lasted for 2 cours.
I’m sorry, I’m rarely salty on my blog but this matter is really getting on my nerves, asking for a new season IS OK because we have to show interest to the producers, but BASHING the production committee because they ended Clear Card like this and DEMANDING another series otherwise they consider the anime shit (I swear I saw someone asking back “all the time I wasted on this”) IS A BIG NO NO. Please calm down and don’t do that.
It’s really sad how people think they’re entitled to demand things for free these days. The anime and manga don’t magically appear for free 😒 they take time and money
Yes, there’s actually a whole lot of reasons why we shouldn’t expect a follow-up anytime soon, like it’s pretty clear that they want to follow the manga more closely than in the 90s, so they probably have to wait for CLAMP to continue the story or even finish it (if it ends with volume 6) before starting to work on the new episodes, in order for things like episode 17and onwards to not happen again (they were late on their schedule, that’s why the rush). Plus, next year the second season of Chihayafuru will air, and everyone is basically giving for granted that director Asaka will work on it, so it’s really risky (but not impossible) for a director to work on 2 series at the same time. And character designer Hamada seems involved too. With the staff busy working on another series, things are more difficult. If they asked me “Choose: waiting more time but keeping the same staff or waiting less but changing the staff?”, I’d certainly choose the first one. Asaka completely gets CLAMP and the atmosphere of CCS, so I’d feel really anxious if it ended up in the hands of another director. Not saying they would do a bad job, but why changing a winning formula…
