People so often talk about parallel play as a thing children do, but adults do it too! I love just hanging out with others while we do our own things. The fact that we're not doing something together doesn't bother me. It's simply being together that's important.
Your autistic body language is good, and expressive, and interesting. There is nothing wrong with using non-neurotypical body language.
Day 2 of Auctober!
I've heard a few reasons as to why an infinity symbol is used. The first one I heard was because autism is something we're born with and will die with. It is with us forever. Some may see that as a negative meaning but I don't. You can't remove my autism from me because it is part of me. To remove my autism would be to completely change who I am.
I am forever neurodivergent and forever autistic. And for that I'm glad!
(does one thing) hm i think i deserve a little reward :) (walks around in circles listening to music for three hours)
A Note To Autistic Boys 💕
[note: this includes trans boys, non-binary boys and boys who aren’t sure if they’re boys]
Your stimming is not obnoxious or intrusive. It is just your way of expressing your emotions. Don’t feel guilty about it.
When you infodump to a girl or a femme, you are not mansplaining. You’re just infodumping, a beautiful thing. It isn’t unfeminist to infodump.
Your traditionally masculine special interests do not contribute to toxic masculinity or male privilege. They’re just your special interests.
Your traditionally feminine interests do not make you a “sissy” or a girl (this one goes especially to trans boys). They’re just your special interests.
You are not being “disruptive” by talking loudly, not understanding neurotypical social skills or excusing yourself out of class. These are just things that some autistic people do. It doesn’t make you any less valid.
You are not inherently violent or aggressive by avoiding eye contact (especially MOC). It’s just an autistic trait, that neurotypical society may demonize but still isn’t inherently negative.
Don’t make anybody feel that you aren’t strong, beautiful or good, because I promise you, you are 💕
[anybody can reblog this, whether you’re an Autistic boy or not]
What is autistic nesting? I’ve heard people say it and I was picturing like a literal bird’s nest made out of blankets but I’ve got the impression that that’s maybe not what it means
Ah, nesting! This is my nest:
It’s a mess but I love it. It’s where I am the most and has access to all my needs. Oils, stim toys, my games, books, ear defenders and more!
Not all nests are messy. Some people keep drawers, boxes etc. Some are sofas, like mine, a bedroom corner, their bed etc.
THIS IS AN AUTISM THING?
Anyone can nest, but Autistics tend to do it to an extreme. Remember, we often like sameness and routine.
See how you feel if someone comes in and straightens up your nest area. You’ll know right quick if it’s your autism or not. /lh 😁
(a photo of gold foil with a white square on top, inside the square is yellow-gold text that reads “Honoring Autistic Dignity Day” with the date “8/8” below)
The date for Autistic Dignity Day was chosen because, when written in number form, the date 8/8 looks like two infinity symbols.
Today is about recognizing and respecting the dignity and autonomy of autistic individuals everywhere. Autistic lives and experiences have value and worth.
I feel that imposter syndrome within the autistic community is so common. We're constantly told "you don't look autistic" that sometimes we believe it. It's okay though. You're not alone in feeling this. Don't listen to those doubts, and embrace your autistic self!
I love you autistic people, I love you stimming, I love you people who are considered “awkward” and “weird,” I love you special interests, I love you autistic people with incredibly specific special interests, I love you autistic people who emote “too much,” I love you autistic people who emote “too little,” I love you nonverbal and semiverbal autistic folks, I love you autistic people who talk a lot, I love you reclamation of cringe culture, I love you autistic people who have low/no empathy, I love you hyper-empathetic autistic people, I love you comfort items-

Autistic people with stereotypically nerdy interests are amazing, wonderful human beings who deserve all the love and respect in the world 💜
you don’t have to talk. it’s okay.
Reminder: There’s nothing wrong with being autistic!
autistic culture is when autism becomes your special interest ❤️
I love when I find a fandom with tons of fellow autistic people in it. That’s how you know a fandom will get the love and passion it deserves.
