[Image description - Images of the rainbow pride flag with the text: “LGBT” is not universal. It is not an acronym used everywhere in the world. There have always been queers who weren’t “LGBT”. End description.]
I get it. I have similar feelings about the acronym and I've posted about that a lot over the years. I have never appreciated being the "+".
I rarely ever use "LGBT", and when I do it's specifically used in the context of discussing gatekeeping and exclusionism.
I never use "LGBTPN" because it came into use specifically for the purpose of excluding queer, asexual, and intersex people from the acronym.
I deliberately use the most inclusive forms of the acronym that I'm aware of.
And when I do deliberately use "Queer" as a widely inclusive umbrella term, I end up dealing with the "queer is a slur" and "gay/lesbian not queer" crowds.
It's literally impossible for me to make everyone who interacts with my posts happy.
All I can do is try to use whichever language feels right and most appropriate for each situation.
