It's a something of a nuisance having to go through a poem like the one here in HTML to get rid of the unnecessary <p>'s and replace them with <br />'s. The "Indented" choice just makes things worse.

Any chance you might add a "Blank verse" format choice to the text options dropdown?* It shouldn't take that much code.

dude remember when USA tumblr used to go absolutely apeshit on the 4th of july and when people said "but america is terrible" we said "we know but let us just have this one day" but like ever since trump got elected it's just been so bleak and chaotic that we can't even pretend to be Ultra Patriotic For The Memes anymore. we're just tired and angry.

Why did “be critical of your media” turn into “find all its flaws and hate it” why did people become allergic to FUN

Because people confuse “critical as in critical thinking” with “critical as in criticizing something,” so they think that “look for something bad, no matter how far-fetched” is what “being critical” means.

lmao im always in this dilemma where i dont want to say the phrase “dude chill out its just a cartoon” because that would sound like im underestimating the importance of what animated narratives mean to people or it’d sound like i’d be saying that family content shouldnt be taken seriously 

but at the same time, everytime i see ppl getting really mad about cartoons on an unhealthy life-consuming level i just have to say it. “dude chill out its just a cartoon”

I’m gonna be real here for a sec, and I’m sorry for being the one to say it. Every single one of you who is advocating for shows that tried to be inclusive and had hiccups to be voted down and be punished by attempting to lower the ratings and sending messages to the higher ups are playing themselves. You all turned on SU, Korra, Voltron, and will turn on the Dragon Prince and She-Ra as well when those also turn out to be flawed shows and not peak respectability politics as well. There is no such thing as a perfect show, let alone the prefect rep. 

Do you really believe execs care about what you’re saying? All that they will see is that people hate shows with reps, and that shows with reps get the most hate and more so than shows that don’t even try, so the message to them is that we shouldn’t try since people will eventually turn on them. All you’re doing is making creators see what these shows go through and go you know what, it’s not worth it. Because the level of outright malice is vicious and horrifying. 

Execs don’t care what you’re saying all they see is that you hated the rep so to them it’s better to not have rep. If you think big corporations care about your plight then you are heavily misguided. Creators have to fight and fight to get scraps and there are many internal politics on what goes down and how. They aren’t kidding when they say they fight for it. Shows that try will always be held on a higher standard and when that isn’t met it’s punished for trying and those above the shows will go welp, better never include those nasty queers if they’re gonna hate it. Thats’ the bitter reality of it and it will never change so choose your words and actions carefully. 

in two years people will turn on dragon prince and she-ra it’s a given wank they will never ever care about you only creators will and future creators will see what their peers go through and back down on what they want as well because dreading backlash is now more on the rise than ever heck i’m just a fan and even i fear backlash imagine being a creator that everyone feels entitled to look i’m really sorry to put it out like this but it’s the bitter truth all of these shows are deeply flawed but they are trying

“You can criticize something you love!”

Yeah, and you can also get tired of criticizing something you love. You can get completely fed up with it and decide, “You know what? Flaws aside, I love this thing, and I don’t have to waste hours of my life admitting its flaws to strangers on the Internet in order to somehow justify my love of it.” You can get sick of watching others gleefully tear it apart, for no reason other than that it’s popular and they hate that you love it. You can get sick of watching others tearing it apart with good intentions, too.

In the end, it’s just a cartoon, or a book, or a movie. It’s not that serious, and you can enjoy it without hyper-focusing on its flaws. You don’t need to justify your love of something to someone else, least of all a person you don’t even know.

No offense i didnt spend my entire childhood being made fun of for my interests, fear judgement all the way through my teens and early adulthood, and learn to love what i love free of shame so I could be made to feel bad for enjoying something harmless because “the fandom ruined it/made it cringey”
