THIS will be sooo good for my soundboard. Those online sessions are about to become even better :D

First music, then voice modifiers… Now this. Perfect.

Also, I’m pretty sure it can be used for a lot of other activities.

How do I register to vote if I’m going to college in a different state than my home state?

Did you know that you can still register to vote even if you are living in a different state than where your ID is registered? About 1 in 5 university students attend an out-of-state college, which is a very large amount of potential voters. Here is information for college students on getting registered to vote:

  • Register for an absentee ballot - this is a mail in ballot that would allow your vote to count in the state you are originally from. This is a good option for temporary residents of their college state, but permanent residents in their home state
  • Every state has different residentry requirements, Depending on your state, you may be considered a resident by living there for college, which would allow to register in that state
  • You can only register/vote in one state

Are You Dissociating?

Dissociating is one of the most common responses to abuse and trauma. It involves feeling numb, detached or unreal and (while it happens to everyone once in a while) is experienced more frequently and severely in survivors. Dissociating people vary widely in symptoms and may experience any or all of the things from the following list.

You may be dissociating if you:

  • find yourself staring at one spot, not thinking anything
  • feel completely numb
  • feel like you’re not really in your body, like you’re watching yourself in a movie.
  • feel suddenly lightheaded or dizzy
  • lose the plot of the show or conversation you were focused on
  • feel as if you’re not quite real, like you’re in a dream
  • feel like you’re floating
  • suddenly feel like you’re not a part of the world around you
  • feel detached and far away from other people, who may seem mechanical or unreal to you
  • are very startled when someone/something gets your attention
  • completely forget what you were thinking just a moment ago
  • suddenly cover your face or react as if you’re about to be hurt for no reason
  • can’t remember important information about yourself, like your age or where you live
  • find yourself rocking back and forth
  • become very focused on a small or trivial object or event
  • find that voices, sounds or writing seem far away and you sometimes have trouble understanding them.
  • feel as if you’ve just experienced a flashback (perhaps rapidly) but you can’t remember anything about it.
  • perceive your body as foreign or not belonging to you

(likes and reblogs always taken as support)

Get to know the signs so you can stay safe during a dissociative episode.

Beth Israel Synagogue in Nagasaki, Japan; 1904. x

Following the end of Japan’s “closed-door” foreign policy, Jewish families began to settle in Japan. The first recorded Jewish people arrived in Yokohama in 1861. It was in Yokohama that the first synagogue in Japan was established that same year.

Another early Jewish settlement was one established in the 1880s in Nagasaki, which was a large Japanese port city opened to foreign trade. This community was larger than the one in Yokohama, consisting of more than 100 families. It was here that the Beth Israel Synagogue was constructed in 1894 with money donated by Haskel Goldenberg and Sigmund Lessner. The Jewish population in Nagasaki would continually grow and remain active until its decline was caused by the Russo-Japanese War in the early 20th century. Beth Israel’s Torah scroll were given to the Jewish community of Kobe, which was made up of in part by a group of freed Russian Jewish prisoners of war.  The synagogue building does not exist today and no monument or marker marks the spot where it once stood.

Shopping for laptops fucking sucks ‘cause I don’t know shit about computers. I’ve never had a computer with a functional webcam or microphone or the ability to play computer games made later than 2005 or a speaker that could play anything loud enough to hear from more than a foot away. How the hell should I know what I want?!

wow that would be such useful advice if only desktop PCs were small and portable and did not require desk tops on which to place them and I could take them with me when I traveled

I know this is a haha funny post, but for anyone who needs it, here's a quick-and-dirty of what you're most likely going to see while shopping for a computer/laptop (w/Examples)!

  • Cores/Intel Cores (Ex. i3, i5, i9)= Processing Speed= how fast your internet and other programs run. More cores is better.
  • Hard [Disk] Drive(HDD)/Solid State Drive(SSD) (Ex. 250GB, 480GB, 2TB)= How much you can store on your computer (files and apps and programs). A Terabyte(TB) is 1,000 Gigabytes.

*HDD is cheaper and more storage while SSD is faster, more durable, and uses less energy.

  • Memory/RAM(Random Access Memory) (Ex. 4GB, 8GB, 16GB) = How many different things your computer can do At The Same Time.

Ex. A computer with 4GB of RAM will probably shit itself if you try to play a game with with the internet open.

  • Video/Graphics Cards (Ex. NVIDIA, Intel HD Graphics, AMD) = How much visual complexity your computer can handle without throwing a tantrum. Only important if you play video games, do digital art, or watch a lot of movies on your computer. (When you're watching a video and it pixelates and lags when the action stuff happens, that's a bad/small graphics card)

Also, DO BUY REFURBED LAPTOPS!

Especially with CoVid and the international whatever capitalism is doing stuff going on new laptops have become crazy expensive. Like I was looking at buying one right as the pandemic started, didn't have the money and now the same laptop is like 200€ more expensive.

But if you like only need it for casual stuff, like writing, youtube, playing music, playing games that aren't as demanding (like Stardew Valley), a refurb device is just fine. And if you get it from a reputable source they will have given it a once over and it will have a warranty. Mostly for a year, some places. offer two years for a few more bucks.

And on top of that, depending on the device, some refurbed models are hardly used. They are from companies that gave out laptops to their employees who also had desktop PCs. Obviously that changed too, so refurbed Laptops are also getting expensive and scarce. But if you find a refurbed laptop that fits your needs, you're also helping reduce electrical waste. It's a big pain in the ass to properly recycle electronics, which is why it's often not done. And let's be honest. Not everyone needs the newest, flashiest device.

It's just important that the place you get it from is reputable, check reviews and other websites. Maybe even check if someone on reddit talked about. And heck, you can even get a high spec laptop from refurbed places, only they are most likely almost just as expensive as new, but still. Support refurbed stuff.

hi! i love post-level reblog controls, very good feature. i saw in the teaser for it posted a while ago that there were originally "people you follow" and "only you" options, and i was wondering if those would ever be added? i think those would be lovely additions to the feature!

Hey there, @soulofazazel.

Thanks for this question, and we couldn’t agree more—it’s a fantastic idea. We can say it’s on our wish list, but we can’t say when we might get the chance to start work on it. We’re sorry we don’t have anything more solid to offer right now, but keep an eye on @changes for any updates.

This is great feedback. Thanks also to @galatoma for getting in touch to ask the same.

Best,

—George (Tumblr Engineering)
