Sneak Peek: Spencer Reid's season two/three-based fic.
“What‘s wrong?” Spencer asks you when you didn't respond to his previous question. You are so immersed in your thoughts that you don't even notice he asked you something.
“What?” You turn your confused gaze from the TV to him. You both were on the couch catching up with your favorite series, but it seemed your mind was somewhere else.
“You have been looking at the screen almost without blinking, clearly not paying attention to what is happening there.”
“I was concentrated, Spencer,” you mumble, shifting your position on the couch.
“Yeah, that much that when I said I was cheating on you with Elle, you only hummed.”
You pull a face, realizing there is no way your boyfriend will let this go.
“You wouldn't dare,” you deflect, trying to change the topic.
“No, you are right. I wouldn’t. Now, can you tell me what’s bogging you?”
You’re not sure if it's a good idea to bring this up. Maybe it is only you who is reading too much into it, but that doesn't mean it hasn’t spiraled in you over the past three days.
You let out a deep sigh, collecting your thoughts to talk about the topic in the most neutral way you can find.
Spencer is patiently waiting for you to take the first step.
“Gideon hates me,” you mumbled, defeated. Spencer’s face falls and fills with pure confusion.
“What? No! Why do you say that? Of course, Gideon doesn't hate you,” Spencer assures you as if he is pretty sure about that.
You knew it would be his natural reaction. Not because he doesn't believe you; it is more like he can’t picture his mentor hating someone who is making him happy. Or at least you hope it's his reasoning.
“I have a list, you know?” you half joke, half tell the truth, and Spencer is really curious about why that idea is rooted in you.
“Of reasons about why Gideon hates me.”
It doesn't seem like a joke or some kind of teasing, so Spencer starts to worry.
“O-okay. What does that list contain, then?”
