Adrien knew he messed up his first attempt at a normal friendship with Marinette. 

She disliked him, thinking that he was in league with Chloé’s horrible antics, but was later proven wrong by his sheer kindness.

As the year progresses, Adrien most likely assumes that Marinette’s stutter and inability to talk to him is because of his actions the first day of school, and how she might not have fully forgiven him for not ratting out Chloé.

So when the opportunity arises…

Adrien finds his second chance to impress Marinette.

Trying a little too hard, all Adrien wants is to gain Marinette’s approval of him; whether it be his civilian life…

…or as Chat Noir.

It just hit me that Chat Noir didn’t fall for the incredible, the awe inspiring Ladybug. He fell for the clumsy girl who became the infamous superhero.

Chat Noir/Adrien Agreste fell for Marinette first, because when they met she was still learning how to be Ladybug.

I might actually cry because that kind of ends the whole argument about whether Chat Noir would be disappointed that Ladybug is Marinette.

PRETTY MUCH THIS ALSO TIES INTO WHY CHAT NOIR I PERSONALLY FEELS DOESN’T CARE IF HE ISN’T AS FAMOUS AS LADYBUG HE KNOWS FIRST HAND THAT SHE FAN INSECURE AND AS ADRIEN HE IS ALREADY SUPER FAMOUS AND GETS ALL THE ATTENTION FROM STRANGERS ALL THE TIME AS CHAT NOIR THE ONLY PERSON HE REALLY WANTS TO NOTICE HIM IS LADYBUG AND MAYBE HIS CLASSMATES HE DOESN’T CARE ABOUT THE REST OF PARIS HE ALREADY KNOWS FAME AND HE KNOWS WHAT IT MEANS FOR PEOPLE TO ADORE YOU BUT WHEN IT COMES TO LADYBUG HE WANTS PEOPLE TO LOVE HER THE WAY HE LOVES HER BECAUSE SHE IS A WONDERFUL AND AMAZING PERSON NOT BECAUSE SHE’S PRETTY
