Whenever I think about Gabriel’s hug to Adrien and the way our local sunshine child reacted I just *dies* Like, when was the last time Gabriel actually paid some real attention to him?

So, theory time because why not? Just let me dream. This contains origins spoilers as well as some regarding the last episode (jacksays). That being said, let’s commencer

So, up till now we have all assumed that Gabriel Agreste is Hawkmoth because, uh, well, common sense and proofs. Everything is screaming at us “hey, notice this! This bitter old villain is actually the cold, seemingly heartless father of our local ray of sunshine, wuuuuh! So bad!” And in the first origin episode we get to see Hawkmoth holding a photo showing a woman who is pretty likely Adrien’s mom, so it’s clear as day that there’s a connection between the two. So yes, Gabriel being Hawkmoth is quite possible.

But, after this last episode (jacksays) there’s something off about Gabriel’s demeanour and him being Hawkmoth. I don’t really know why (and I haven’t got much material to back this up) but what if Hawkmoth is someone close to the Agreste family (maybe Gabriel’s brother or something like that) instead of Gabriel himself? This mysterious person could have been in love with Adrien’s mom (who wouldn’t) or maybe he’s her brother (less likely)? What if they’re trying to make us think that Hawkmoth is Gabriel giving us ambiguous hints? Yes, he really looked interested in Ladybug’s ring and Chat’s ring, and he even noticed Adrien was wearing a ring and showed surprised, even asked about it, but what if there’s something else? Also, he was somehow nice to Adrien at the end (in a way a bad, bad, villain wouldn't, in my opinion) and it's clear as day he's worried to death for his son's security. Akumatizing people means putting everyone at risk, even your son, and even more so if half the villains are from Adrien's class, you know.

The truth is that Gabriel being Hawkmoth would be completely fine with me cause it would mean drama (and I really like that), but what do you think? Have I finally gone crazy? (Cause this show has taken over my life). Opinions?

Regarding Adrien’s mom

Just something I’ve been wondering (this contains origins spoilers) but in the first origin chapter we get to see a protrait of the whole Agreste family, with  Adrien’s mom included, and Adrien looks in his teens (pretty much like in the present timeline). So, does it mean that her mother has been missing since not so long ago or maybe it was Gabriel who asked the painter to include her even though she’s not around anymore?

Up till now everyone had mostly assumed that she disappeared when Adrien was little and he hasn’t seen her ever since, but what if that’s not the case and it was a more recent event that we thought? That would explain akumas appearing only now and not before (though it also could be that it has taken Gabriel this long to find his kwami)

BUT the thing that doesn’t makes sense with this, however, is Adrien being isolated for so long. And his relationship with his father looks like something that has been strained for quite some time now, not nothing new.
