And after all this time i *just* noticed the idle animation for kickin sand around, one kick anyway, it happens after the traveler looks around quickly. Not often seen when idle but i saw it twice while waitin for any companions. Love this game.
old time situation bubbled to the surface(this afternoon after work) when a buddy of mine asked if i felt sad if i lost a companion during the Journey...i really dont/didnt. buddy got angry. i dunno 2012 was an odd year. i ran the game all by my lonesome just for that moment to do all the things with another, capturing glyphs and awakening murals.
most of the time, alone. i was all by myself with only my own chirps and beeps to accompany me.
my first run of Journey and the many other journeys, I was utterly alone, through all the areas and the starfall back. i have had a lot of companion-less journeys. A lot. I was taken aback by that though. I thought it was a timing or connection thing or something because right outta that first area before you hit the area to make the bridge ribbons, you can see if someone is in that area - from the huge gate open you can look down that corridor and see another traveler, i would get so excited seeing them and when i did reach that location.
alone. no one there. i’d chirp chirp chirp chirp. no response, nothin. alone again.
from some experience of other players their whole adventure was with another person and they(some of them have told me) sometimes feel utterly ripped when their partner is gone during the adventure.
the first off lonely journey haunted my starfall-return from the mountain, any returns with or without companions , i am one with the alone.
dont get me wrong, i enjoy and adore the companionship, and being with or without somebody isn’t some deep profound thing
but my starfall was alone and that’s okay, everyone starts off that way.

My soul always shudders when I play this game.
Journey is awe. I love this game, I love the Traveler, there are such neat details with this entity. I noticed the shake of the head to get sand off, I noticed the small glyph speak when mediating next to a companion, I noticed BACKFLIPS and side twirls when jumping during the surfing sequences. I adore the singing and dancing and flying and the way these people swim!

Design concepts
Ever since I found out that the Journey Glyph generator was using a dictionary I went ahead and pulled a 0-9 and A-Z (no lower case) of the glyphs. I have not made any fonts yet, I'm still brainstorming, I really like the glyph generator! Of course out of all the generated shenanigans I tried, I still did not see the 21 player symbols, or I did and missed them ( my mind became woozy) Credit for the generator goes to this person! The glyphs at the bottom of this set are the 21 player symbols

A simple tool for creating Journey-style glyphs at random. Each glyph is generated by hashing a word taken at random from the dictionary - click on a particular glyph to receive a permalink, or try using your name as a hash for that personalized feel.
Not so much anything about the robe’s embroidery (patterns of the bottom) but the just the colour scheme itself. 1st is the default red and orange/gold. 2nd is the 1st one inverted. 3rd is the white robe ( attempted anyway) and 4th is the inverted white robe. I can’t for the love of me remember where I got the 1st image from. The robe patterns are from the Journey Wikia. The last two edits - the canon white robe doesn't have the triangles like the red one does - the darker red triangles. And of course all the playable Journey Persons will have black faces and white eyes. Hell, it was in-game too.
I just wanted to see if my favourite colour scheme could be pulled by inverting the default red and white robes and YEP, i can.
My latest run of the game Journey, the area of the snowy parts, just before you can run into a niche and wake up some obelisks and ribbons to lighten a mural. Right before that area, before the stairs there was a fragment of those serpent ribbon harvesters in the snow and one of those little ribbon dragons would freak out when it saw us and it wound hide in the remains of the serpent, no matter how much we sang to it it would not come out, it would hide there, shivering and terrified.
When you reach near the end of the Journey, where you've already passed that shower of lights of the other symbols that have gone before you, if you are with a partner , you walk side by side when you land and the light is in front of you. In all that snow, between the crevice - you both look like the mountain as you cross that crevice of the peak and the closer to the end you get - you and your partner have to walk single file and then you both become one and still look like the mountain you've been trying to reach so desperately.

Sometimes you start the Journey alone and as you go further along, none come to be at your side, sometimes you reach the end with only yourself. An isolation such as that is taken often by many a person, they have traveled that path as well, so in one sense, no, not alone, not entirely.
Yet sometimes when one finds a companion and the Journey is taken together and they might sometimes fade away like a distant ghost,then does a extremely profound emptiness form.
I have taken the Journey alone like many before me.
