Which Pillar of Nosgoth are you affiliated with?

This is just a random diagnosis thing, for fun, add your name /nickname, capitalization & spacing of names do change results ( so yeah you can add spaces and change results), the results change daily too, annnnnd it wouldn't let me add more details like the sister principles or the elements. ugh.

if i three space + Aomi i get the Pillar of States

Hylden are not Demons and the Demons are not Hylden. Two seperate species and by all accounts the demons are the ones being shafted in the whole ordeal. They were minding their own business when suddenly a bunch of asshole Ancient vampires shoved a bunch of asshole aliens into their asshole demon realm and presumably locked the 'door'.

okay now i'm curious i have to know how you align yourself within the blood omen / soul reaver universe. what do?

EEp.. well. okay.  We’ll use my confirmation bias that I have for Aomi  ok? To long-story-short this entire thing:

Human-wise: most likely doing anything with the pillars of states / Anacrothe because it’s just sticking with Aomi’s initial character shenanigans, alchemy and tinkering and whatnot - shapeshifting/sorcery, etc etc. The Pillar of States itself having Death as its sister principle and Water as its elemental predecessor - and in the colour tarot, Aomi’s teal colour is assigned to death and scorpio and scorpio is a water element.

Vampire wise: easy, Razielim - mostly because Raziel = secret of god / keeper of secrets / angel of secrets. and Aomi = secret /mystery.  that… and the colour theme of the spectral realm and Raziel’s blood colour (not vampire or sarafan Raziel’s blood).

Hylden: haven’t kinda thought about this type of scenario much, i kinda fused it with perhaps Aomi could be a Hylden that underestimated a demon from the shadow realm- and when the pillars were destroyed and the ‘gates’ opened to Nosgoth… i dunno where to go from there.

Demon : same as above - a demon minding its own business when getting ram-rodded/enslaved by Hylden.

Do you think that eventually in this Nosgoth f2p that they'll bring in time travel? or awareness of the Hylden and the demons? that there could be inclusion of fledgling vampires? and perhaps a common faction for the good of Nosgoth overall?

I DON’T KNOW, ANON, I REALLY DON’T KNOW. Everything seems to pulled-out-of-the-arse right now. WE’LL SEE IT IN ACTION AND PERHAPS THE DEVS AND PLAYERS CAN COME TO AGREEMENTS IN DESIGN/GAMEPLAY/STORY. etcetc.

TIS ALL ONE CAN DO.  wait & see.

The Demon Dimension / Hylden Realm

The Hylden Realm is a demonic dimension that warps and distorts reality with chaotic energy. The Hyden tried and succeeded in carving out a niche that left a few of them unaltered. Using the Glyph network, they created order out of Chaos, even subjugating the native creatures there.. but it was very limited and at great cost. Eventually even their great magics would succumb to the demon dimension and warp. The Nexus stone and device were all part of their attempts to come over. The Demon Realm is not a mirror copy of the Material though, it just touches on it in certain 'weak points' like Avernus. It's not like the Spectral Realm.. it has its own areas, too and time passes differently there as well.

In [The Dark Prophecy] I was able to add to the Hylden mythos. Imagine a race that was able to fight the ancient vampires toe to toe to a standstill. They've been warped, weakened, and drained through their experience in the Demon Realm, but those that preserved their pure state in the center of their Glyph cities are every bit as strong as before.

Like any intelligent species, the Hylden have their own hierarchy, conflicts and insurrections. The demon realm would have necessitated a certain unity though, for the sake of survival. I do like to think that there would be have and have-nots, with lesser clans left to the warping as their abilities faded first. Remember that nothing and no-one in Nosgoth is one dimensional. If we had the time, we would have woven a lot of dimensions into everything.

The Hylden appear in the demon dimension, obviously intruders to that realm, which causes immediate conflict. For the Hylden it would have been like being damned to hell: they fought and carved out their place in the world. Preserving what civilization and technology they could. The more damning realization came later when they realized the entire dimension was warping and twisting them. They used their sorcery and Rune technology to create bubbles that kept them safe until those too started to twist and fail.

Further still they realized that they could not die from old age, essentially freezing them in time and space (I think unable to raise children as well. Realizing their eventual fall was due, they reached out to their old enemies and forged alliances, finding ways to breach the thinner passages to the Material Realm of Nosgoth. (Entropy has a way of making strange bedfellows) Lesser demons would have been enslaved, greater demons would have been in an uneasy alliance with the Hylden. They Hylden would have used their possession abilities to reach through the jail of the pillars and even possess demons who came through the other side (thus their knowledge of Kain and Raziel). In Defiance we decided to use the 'green glowing eyes' to show possession or influence. I also believe they focused on possessing more pliable vessels. (Also, I think the demons were pissed off about the whole possession thing)

This vast glyph powered city, with its edges being warped by the demon dimension. The glyphs would keep the warping at bay, but they would eventually fail and a whole section would fall to the demon dimension's twisting. It would set up tension within the city, intense resentment, and conflict for resources. I'd really like to add dimension to the Hylden.

Possession by a Hylden "uses up" regular hosts. Mortanius lasted longer because he was the Death Guardian, but eventually succumbed. Janos and Turel - as immortal Vampires - could last forever, but Turel was trapped in the Catacombs. Janos also was able to power the Device because he was the last of the Ancients. The Hylden can be gentle with their possession, which makes the host last longer, or they can fully possess them, which transforms the body - this is what has happened to the Revenants later in the game, as well as what happens to Mortanius at the end of Blood Omen.

So you got:

  • Vampires.
  • Aliens (Hylden).
  • Demons.
  • Humans.

All wanting to call Nosgoth home or a hugeass grave, whatever have you.

Elder God isn't technically dead( he's deeeeep within the world) , the Hylden have smote the pillars and have busted out of their realm they shared with the demons... having been banished by the Ancients.

So it was the vampires that had been boop'in with the Elder God originally? He wanted moar souls, Hylden would be good, they told the vampires to suck it. They fought and fought, vampires got cursed, stuck with their meat suits, THE WHEEL DID NOT TURN.

Soooo basically at the end of Legacy of Kain: Defiance, you got a bunch of very angry aliens and demons...and with the Soul Reaver no longer insane

WAR FOR NOSGOTH COMMENCE. WHERE ARE THE NEW GUARDIANS?

KAIN IS THE SCION OF BALANCE.

THE PILLARS NEED THEIR GUARDIANS!!

I know how some LoK fans regard Blood Omen 2. But that game has its moments.

Anyhoo, poor Umah ...I completely understand why Kain did what he had to do here. As a leader you can not have anybody in any way trying to undermine you, even if it is for your own good. I mean what if more of your group decided to do the same thing? You lose your authority. You gotta be a tyrant in a world of fear, paranoia, and other...tyrants.

Now, at last, the masks had fallen away. The strings of the puppets had become visible, and the hands of the prime mover exposed. Most ironic of all was the last gift that Raziel had given me, more powerful than the sword that now held his soul, more acute even than the vision his sacrifice had accorded me - the first bitter taste of that terrible illusion: Hope.

You pathetic creature - you haven't got a clue. The seduction of the Circle and possession of Mortanius; Ariel's murder; the corruption and collapse of the Pillars: all orchestrated as a prelude to this moment. We sought an incorruptible vessel, and you provided one. We required the blood of our ancient enemy, and you delivered Janos Audron - having first been lured to the Heart of Darkness. Best of all, you murdered the Scion of Balance to get it. We've already won.

Hylden Lord, Legacy of Kain: Defiance

"Here, no doubt, was the 'evidence' Moebius wished me to have... For the Vampires had prophesied not one, but two champions - one destined to be Nosgoth's redeemer, the other its destroyer. The Vampires' hero wielded the Reaver, forged for this very purpose. His opponent was clearly the champion of their adversaries - the Hylden - and brandished a flaming sword. The foretold outcome was unambiguous: the Vampire hero would fall." - Kain, Legacy of Kain: Defiance
