This blog is SFW. I will not pass judgment on controversial or NSFW fics, but some topics I'm not comfortable reading (Including explicit sexual content, as well as, shipping Bruce, Dick, Jason, Tim, Damian, and Cass with each other.) I will occasionally recommend fics with DamiJon in the background, but in general, it's a dynamic I'm not enthused by.

I am limiting the suicidal content. I will not take asks centered around suicidal ideation.

The young Timothy then handed him his book, “I can't sleep. Can you read it to me?”

“Don't you want me to find your father?” Bruce tried, hoping to get out of that situation.

“Why?”

“Well, he is your dad.”

The kid just shrugged, “He is busy. When he's busy, I can't disturb him. You're not doing anything. You can read to make me sleep.”

He was incredibly articulate for someone his age. And he had clear ideas.

Bruce wouldn't have made it out with his dignity intact, would he?

“I don't think it's appropriate…”

“Why?”

“I want you to teach me to be a witch,” Stephanie looks up, meeting John's gaze with conviction. There it is. There’s the damned point.

“Pardon?” He closes his eyes, letting the gentle breeze of stale Jersey air waft into the room.

“I want to be a witch.”

“No, I heard you. I just thought that the bats were allergic to magic.”

Jason snorted, “He didn't kidnap him. This one broke into the house, stole my cookies and slept on the couch while we were out.”

“What? How? This place is full of alarms!”

The boy shrugged, “That was easy.”

Bruce looked unhappy, "Tim here is a resourceful boy…"

“You can even say I'm a half-demon. It's not an insult."

“I have my ways,” the kid replied evasively, and damn if he wasn't suspicious as hell.

“What if the owner of the house realizes that he is missing some bottles?” Dick asked.

“He'll think Patrick and his friends found them and he'll tell their parents,” Jason said confidently.

“They're all going to get detention,” Tim continued.

“And they probably won't come to these stupid galas for a while,” Jason said with a smile, and the two kids exchanged a victory high-five.

Dick meanwhile felt his headache increasing, "Someone could get hurt."

“Very unlikely.”

“Yeah, Dickhead, we're not idiots. It's no fun when someone gets hurt or maimed.”

“Public humiliation was enough for us,” Tim said, completely without guilt.

Clark called Tim twice. The first time, no one answered. Tim picked up immediately on the second time. His voice was quiet and frantic. "Who are you, and what do you want with me?"

This alarmed him. What happened to Tim to think this way? "Tim, it's me. It's Bruce. There's no need to be nervous."

"See, that's how I know you're lying. Bruce doesn't call, and he definitely does not call with this phone number. There's always a need to be on alert. So, either something big happened to him," here his voice lost some of its hostility, "or you're not him."

"Tim. I am Bruce-"

"No, your voice isn't the same. It doesn't have the same cadence and authority that his has. Yours is gentler. I could try to determine exactly who it is by voice alone. However, that could take too long. Bruce wouldn't let anyone pretend to be him for a few hours. It needs to be someone he trusts. And there's only one person that Bruce trusts enough that also has a soft voice like yours. Hi, Clark."

This one got to me. It has one of the best AU versions of Jason's death I've ever seen.

“Master Richard,” says Alfred on the other end of the line. Dick freezes immediately. The last time he heard Alfred’s voice being so shaky was when Dick came back from a mission in space and found out Jason had died in the meantime.

“I’m here,” he answers because he cannot bring himself to ask who died this time.

“It’s Master Bruce,” continues Alfred. “He’s very badly injured. Doctor Thompkins and I have tended to his injuries but we’re not sure he’s going to make it. Would you mind—”

“I’ll be here as soon as I can,” promises Dick before Alfred can finish his sentence. He stumbles out of bed as soon as the phone call ends, tripping over his own feet. It’s not a death, at least, he tries to reassure himself. But it might be one. Dick’s dad might die today or in the next few days. Dick might find himself an orphan twice over.

"So. New rule." Tim said. He walked over and gestured for the candle. "No burning your hand on candles."

Tim kinda understood where Bruce was coming from. You don't climb up gargoyles at age nine with absolute no training if you didn't think you could handle it.

Yet Tim had a valid reason for possible-sucide without intending suicide. Bruce was just being a dumb kid.

He shook his hand when Bruce didn't give him the candle. “HelIo your hand is burned, not your ears.”

Bruce frowned, blowing out the flame before finally handing it over. "But I'm training. "

Tim frowned. "Are you whining? Seriously? I know for a fact you went through Socialite 101, keep those emotions repressed." He tucked the candle stick into his pants pocket. “Also, training for what? Touching pans straight out of the oven? You're banned.”

"What? No- I just. I just am. " Bruce said. There was a sudden pink in his cheeks. “And that ridiculous ban has nothing to do with me. ”

“I already said I wasn’t working with him. He was using kids that's against my rules.” Jason is able to get out, voice strained.

Wonder Woman scoffs.

“You expect us to believe that? After everything you have done? Your record shows you do not follow a “no kids” rule, at least not explicitly.” Wonder Woman sneers.

“I don’t- I don’t hurt k-kids..” Jason stutters. His breathing continues to become more panicked.

“I-I-I don’t! It was a mistake. I-I didn’t mean to.” Jason gets out through stuttered breaths. He isn’t even sure why he is rambling on but he needs Wonder Woman to know that that isn’t who he truly is. Tim is his little brother; he doesn't want him dead!

“I- I didn’t mean to-” Jason stammers. And he didn’t. He didn’t mean to attack Tim. It was a mistake, a huge mistake he has to live with for the rest of his life.

But does that matter? Sorry doesn’t heal injuries. Sorry doesn’t bring someone back from the dead.

“Red Hood-“ Jason hears Superman start but not finish because all Jason can hear now is his breathing. Loud, heavy, labored. His lenses are filling up with salty water, soon the pool of tears will eat away at his mask adhesive and start sliding down his cheeks.

He pushes his weight off the wall and twists his head until he gets his teeth in Hood’s unarmored forearm and bites down hard. Hood yelps and starts trying to shake him off, but Tim snarls around the arm in his mouth and starts kicking wherever he can land a hit when Hood lifts him off the ground by his collar in an attempt to pry him off. For all his determination, the human jaw isn’t built to clamp down like a crocodile, and Tim gets thrown off.

“What the hell, Tim?!” Hood inspects the bleeding bite mark on his arm as Tim gets back on his feet. “Do you have rabies or something? Do I need a vaccine now?”

If he were in the mood, Tim might offer a quip about how he should be the one asking about vaccines, seeing as he can taste blood, but he’s not feeling up for levity. Instead he spits what he can out onto the floor to avoid swallowing it.

And when Jason pushed aside his obsession with Bruce, the answer was so clear. He knew exactly what he wanted. He knew what he’d always wanted, ever since he was that little street rat who spent money he needed for food on making himself look clean. Because he’d needed to look clean and presentable to get into the public libraries. Because they wouldn’t have let a dirty homeless kid touch the books.

“I want to go to college.”

And Talia had made that happen for him.

“Cranky,” Dick says, smirking. “You weren't fast enough and I like this bathroom on account of it being the most hidden, which means that, alas, you have to contend with me.”

“I'm going to feed you to the toilet.”

“If there is an actual toilet monster that none of us noticed then I’m happy to let it.”

Tim stares at Dick. “Sewers.”

Dick gives a near imperceivable wince. “I take it back.”

All eyes swiveled towards Bruce. Technically, he wasn't even playing. He'd sat on the sidelines, content to watch his kids having fun. Now, five expectant faces were turned towards him.

"Truth," Bruce said, deciding to play along. The delight on all of his kids' faces was worth it.

Tim thought for a long moment. It was tempting to ask Bruce something embarrassing, but he had an opportunity here; he wouldn't waste a chance to get Bruce to actually open up.

"What made you become a vigilante rather than something else? What was the biggest inspiration for an alter ego?"

"Hn…"

After a few seconds of silence, Dick said, “Hey, B?”

Bruce grunted in acknowledgement, eyes still focused on his research.

“Do you think we should tell the League that you raised and trained me?”

Bruce’s fingers paused on the keyboard and he slowly turned around to face Dick. “…Do they not know?”

Dick laughed so hard he doubled over, clutching his sides. “No! You’ve worked with most of them since I was a literal child and they had no fucking clue that I exist. I wonder whose fault that is, Mr. I-Work-Alone! Now I’ve earned Hal’s respect because he thinks I hate you, I think Clark is worried for my sanity and physical wellbeing, and Wally told me that Barry might be on the verge of a mental breakdown.”
